Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 3/3/16

1:20
Eno Sarris: be here shortly. If you’ve seen the ads on MLBN, you’ve heard this song, but it’s great, and the video even better:

1:20
Eno Sarris:

12:00
Jack Black: Please rank for 2016: Eovaldi, R. Hill, Berrios, Snell

12:00
Eno Sarris: You got it, but I could see moving Berrios ahead of Hill. Hill only has two pitches…

12:00
enos brain:

12:01
Tom: Would you be so kind as to name three prospects you would love to roster at this weekend’s AL-LABR?

12:02
Eno Sarris: You going to make me bare all my strategy eh. I’ll give you a couple: Michael Fulmer and Kyle Zimmer. Because, opportunity.

12:02
Otis: favourite brewery not from the US of A?

12:02
Eno Sarris: Cantillon.

12:02
T-bird: Who do you like more between Mazara and Brinson, both in the short-term and long-term? Do either make a significant impact this season?

12:03
Eno Sarris: Mazara closer and higher floor. Really nice swing. Brinson higher ceiling but higher bust rate and further away. I usually end up with Mazara types.

12:03
Marc: Did you listen to Dan Haren on Jonah’s podcast? Have other players expressed their anxieties with playing to you? Highly recommend giving it a listen if you haven’t.

12:04
Eno Sarris: Dan Haren himself talked about it a bit with me. I’ve heard it some from Sam Fuld and others. But it’s all such an alpha male sport, you’re not going to get a lot of people to admit it, particularly while they are in the league.

12:04
brad: do you think piscotty’s changes in swing mechanics can lead to a jd Martinez like break out?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Yes. Well, not sure he has that same power ceiling, but I see similar changes.

12:04
Astro Boy: Who’s the starting 1B for the Astros on Opening Day? Does that individual keep the job all year?

12:05
Eno Sarris: Singleton or Tucker. I actually think it might be Tucker. And no.

12:06
Mitt Romney: I find myself loving Nick Castellanos for the upcoming season. What say you about his prospects for breaking out in 2016?

12:07
Eno Sarris: He’s only 23 so he should grow in all departments. Just a little more contact and a little more power and he could be a .275/20 guy. In real life, that needs to be paired with better defense.

12:07
Shamus: You’ve sold me on Liam Hendricks over the past few months, but how feasible is it that he would even be ahead of Axford on the depth chart at this point? If your sole focus was vulturing saves and you could only roster one of Hendricks or Madson, would you still go Hendricks?

12:07
Eno Sarris: Yes.

12:07
Miketron: So how far has Soler’s value fallen?

12:07
Eno Sarris: Depressingly far. Right now, having trouble seeing more than 300 PA…

12:07
Yankee Doodle: What kind of expectations do you have for Starlin Castro this year? Would you rather have him, Andrus or Semien?

12:07
Eno Sarris: Semien. Castro should be fine but his ceiling isn’t huge and his floor is bad.

12:08
Marc: Southern Tier is opening a microbrewery by PNC park in Pittsburgh soon. On a scale of 1 to All Of It, how much should I blow between that and baseball?

12:08
Eno Sarris: This is useful for my craft beer guide! thanks!

12:08
Hannah Hochevar: Is having two kids like signing two QO free agents? Once you’ve committed to losing one pick, you might as well lose two. (So long as one kid doesn’t turn around and sign with the Cubs instead…)

12:08
Eno Sarris: I guess but the third just seems like too much for me. Don’t tell my wife I said that. Well, I guess she knows.

12:08
Jt: Do you have any suggestions for a strategy for the last 10-15 rounds of the nfbc draft and hold leagues? The guys left are seriously bottom of the barrel. All prospects people have heard of are gone.

12:08
Eno Sarris: Set it up so that you’re picking starters and relievers. That’s where you want quantity anyway.

12:09
Brandon : How would you rank Stanton, Machado, and Arenado in a points league system this year? And how would you rank them as far as keepers? Thanks.

12:09
Eno Sarris: Machado, Stanton, Arenado. But Arenado may slide ahead of Stanton as a keeper.

12:09
Alex: Would you rather have Jacob deGrom as a 2nd round keeper or Carlos Carrasco as a 4th round keeper? There are 96 players kept in this league, so a 2nd round pick isn’t exactly your traditional 2nd round pick.

12:10
Eno Sarris: Still so many great players available after keepers selected. I’d rather have CC.

12:10
Gerb: Does Salazar have to potential to make the next step and give Cleveland 3 true aces? What are the odds that the AL Cy Young goes to a Cleveland pitcher?

12:11
Eno Sarris: I think so. The curve has potential. And the odds have to be better than most. I found that past Cy Youngs have come mostly from pitchers projected as top 30 pitchers in their late twenties. That describes most of the top three.

12:11
Sean P: Are the White Sox being foolish by going into next year with Rollins/Saladino at short and Garcia in right?

12:12
Eno Sarris: No, they have Anderson and he could benefit from a little less pressure, so I like the Rollins thing. Not getting in on Fowler or another late OF might have been a mistake though.

12:12
Pretty Tony: Live in MI and just got Ballast Point here in November. A sixer of Sculpy still costs 14, 15 bucks most places. Do prices typically drop after a few months after a brewery expands its distribution or am I going to have to treat myself to BP only when I’m feeling like splurging?

12:13
Eno Sarris: You *might* see six pack prices go down because they were bought. Being bought by a big company allows you to slash prices on six packs in particular.

12:13
Ryan : My bulldog has recently taken to eating socks lately. Its weird. Speaking of socks, what should we expect from White Sox prospect Tim Anderson this year?

12:13
Eno Sarris: I’m worried he’ll strike out too much, so if he can keep it to 20% strikeouts in the minors again, I’d be excited.

12:14
Scott: Stumbled my way onto a bottle of Goose Island 2015 Rare Bourbon County Stout. Have you had it? I love regular BCS but this cost $70, I see the market for it is around $130 or more, and my taste buds aren’t worthy of $7-8/oz liquid. What should I do with it? Sell it now, keep it and see if it gets more expensive, keep it and drink it for a meaningful life moment?

12:14
Eno Sarris: I would drink it with someone at a big moment. But if doubling your money is interesting to you, don’t stress too much. I love beer but it’s just beer.

12:16
Eno’s Angels: Hi Eno…I wanted to know which pitchers you like to make a big jump this year based on what you’ve seen. I think you’ve mentioned Rubby De La Rosa as one? Thanks!

12:17
Eno Sarris: DeSclafani (went to curve), Ventura (more curves, more velocity), Gibson (more changeups), Eovaldi (more splitters if arm holds up) made significant changes in the late going last year.

12:17
daneyko: best SP in 2016 (your order). Quintana, McCullers, S.Miller, Smyly and Rodon

12:19
Eno Sarris: Move McC first, Smyly ahead of Miller.

12:19
Craig in Chicago: What was your line, in the basketball game, last night? 🙂

12:19
Eno Sarris: I was yelling out Ron Artest! and someone said Old Kobe! Because I was something like 6-20 with a couple blocks.

12:19
Pretty Tony: Don Kelly is the Don Kelly of Don Kelly

12:19
Pretty Tony: Donk Elly

12:20
Yoenis Envy: Paul Sporer has so many teeth! Your response?

12:20
Eno Sarris: hmmm.

12:20
Marc: What do you make of the Cole/Boras vs Pirates situation? I get that his pre-arb $ doesnt equal his perfromance but per the CBA thats expected and common practice for the vast majority of teams. The whole situation seems overblown and that Cole is being a little bit of a whiner no?

12:21
Eno Sarris: Maybe they trying to change those practices, which I guess is okay. Sometimes you have to whine to get things done.

12:21
Nelson: Are you going to continue youre Dimaggioesque streak of not visiting Arizona Wilderness while in AZ?

12:21
Eno Sarris: Going Monday night!

12:21
The Dude of NY: Does Votto ever get upset that so many pundits say he walks too much? If he does, will you give him a hug for me?

12:21
Eno Sarris: He makes some sarcastic comments here and there, but I don’t get the sense it’s existential angst.

12:22
Art Vandelay: I watched two innings of a terrible Tigers/Yankees game yesterday and I couldn’t be happier.

12:22
Eno Sarris: I SAW ROBERT STEPHENSON AND LUIS SEVERINO PITCH! (they didn’t pitch well)

12:22
Khris Davis: Am I the slugger that just changed teams who just shrugged when you asked me about the different aspects of my hitting?

12:22
Eno Sarris: one team correct but not the player

12:22
Brian: Brett Anderson out 3-5 months – who takes his spot in the rotation?

12:23
Eno Sarris: Wood breathes easier. Now Bolsinger or Beachy get a shot.

12:23
batman: Thoughts on rolling with Justin Turner as a primary 3B? Market is dried up in the way of keepers, and he seems to be a good middle of the road selection if i can get him at the right price

12:23
Eno Sarris: Fine if cheap.

12:23
Bork: So would the perfect pitcher mold be a ground ball pitcher from 18-30, fly ball from 30-38, then knuckleballer 38-60?

12:24
Eno Sarris: Based on my piece today, I think four-seam/slider/change strikeout guy from 18-30, mixing in sinkers in late 20s, cutter in mid thirties, and sure, knucklers at the end why not. Something like Gio Gonzalez with slightly better stuff and better natural command.

12:25
Eddie: In a keep forever, I have Carlos Carrasco in the 3rd round. I’ve been offered a deal where I send Carrasco and my 3rd round pick to receive Gerrit Cole, who is a 20th round keeper. I need some Eno expertise here.

12:25
Eno Sarris: Wait so you lose the third round pick either way? Seems like a bum deal.

12:25
Eno Sarris: Unless You get to keep Cole in 20th in perpetuity.

12:27
Eno Sarris: KEITH VAN HOOOOOOORN

12:27
Eno Sarris:

12:27
Ryan: Are you concerned about Wainwright? I keep seeing people downplaying the injury since it wasn’t arm related and I get that, but he’s just getting old.

12:27
Eno Sarris: I’m a little nervous about him actually.

12:29
James : Dodgers can’t be that surprised by the Anderson news, right? Do you like Alex Wood going into the season?

12:29
Eno Sarris: I really like that he spent all offseason working on his falling arm slot. That should help goose his movement back to where it was when he was better.

12:29
The Dude of NY: Do you like the Ian Desmond contract for the Rangers?

12:29
Eno Sarris: yes.

12:30
brant brown dropped the ball: hey eno, i kept schwarber but wondering if i screwed it up given the fowler signing. you higher on him than heyward or cano (my runners up)? my other three are arrieta, thor, and edwin. thanks buddy.

12:30
Eno Sarris: There’s news he’ll catch at least once a week, so that’s good news. I’d keep him over your other choices.

12:30
Robert “Bob” Slidell: What worries you about the Mets this year?

12:31
Eno Sarris: Bullpen, defense.

12:31
Scott: Eno ever have anything from De Garde? Just made a big trade, a bunch of NY/NE IPAs for some bombers. Pretty pumped.

12:31
Eno Sarris: Oh man, yeah, I paid too much for a Mosaic Hose and I could hook myself up to a Mosaic Hose if that’s what it tastes like.

12:31
PS: Have you had the 3 Sam Adams Rebel IPas? or are they too commercial for you…

12:32
Eno Sarris: I did not like the first one. I’ll try the raw one. I’m actually really interested in their nitro series, I like nitro beers.

12:32
Bork: Would you support replacing the DH with another player you can stick on the field anywhere? THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES.

12:32
Eno Sarris: Would change game too much.

12:32
James : I know hindsight is 20/20, but was offering a qualifying offer to Brett Anderson really a good deal?

12:32
Eno Sarris: I totally thought he would take it.

12:32
Yoenis Envy: Is Votto gonna see any strikes this year, given the lack of anything resembling a threat on the Reds?

12:33
Eno Sarris: He told me he’s never seen any difference in how he’s pitched based on who’s behind him. Only who’s in front of him — more fastballs if Hamilton is on base. So it’s more on Hamilton than the whole lineup I guess.

12:33
Trump University Degree Holder: Pillar and Burns are both going for $15 in my league, inflation added. Which would you take if given the choice?

12:33
Eno Sarris: Burns. For sure.

12:33
mtsw: Thoughts on Gausman’s breakout potential?

12:34
Eno Sarris: Decent. He also added a curve over the course of the year, and started throwing that rising fastball for more pop-ups too. Has the velocity and two changeups.

12:34
Schiraldi: How do you weigh Carlos Martinez’s shoulder injury w/r/t skills improvement? Beyond lowering his innings a bit, does it make you more hesitant that he’ll improve on his BB%, or worry that his K% will step back?

12:35
Eno Sarris: He’s been fine so far so I don’t worry about what he does on the field.

12:35
Johnny5Alive: so donald trump… where you moving?

12:35
Eno Sarris: Still got my EU citizenship!

12:35
Tyler: Are you high on Yelich’s bat this year, a lot of people seem to be really excited if he can get his flyball rate up

12:36
Eno Sarris: Yeah but how much can he push it year over year? I’d put the over under on home runs for him around 10.

12:36
Mark: What’s your take on Nomar Mazara? Will he hit for average and power?

12:36
Eno Sarris: Yes and at least league average power.

12:36
Marc: The Pirates seem to listen/read your articles on relievers. Can you please write something on how Caminero should be closing?

12:37
Pete: Do you think Addison Russell will close the gap this year between other call-ups Lindor and Seager? Will he prove more valuable at his ADP?

12:37
Eno Sarris: I like him. I think he can approach Jhonny Peralta numbers as soon as this year. Peralta was always criminally underrated in fantasy.

12:37
wocka wocka: How was Hawaii yo

12:38
Eno Sarris: good. We didn’t leave the house much, one trip to Hilo and the beach (big surf problem while I was there, and we were visiting family) but I had great beer and hung by the pool.

12:38
Ol Sea Capn : I just found out that I’ll be in AZ and can make the meet up. Ummm what’s it like? A bunch of strangers awkwardly asking what they think about Jose Peraza’s playing time and Ketel Marte’s lineup spot?

12:38
Eno Sarris: Mostly. But the thing is, since we are all so awkward, something kind of fun happens: the stress lessens.

12:39
AL-only Guy: Are you excited for AL-LABR this weekend? What kind of advice could you give someone also heading into an AL-only auction soon? Have you ever won a league with a Stars & Scrubs approach, or do you recommend balance across the board instead?

12:39
Eno Sarris: I *hate* dollar guys, especially dollar hitters. Bad odds on those guys. So I dive for the middle most of the time.

12:39
Bucco’s Cove: Is Cellarmaker or Treehouse making the best pales and IPAs in America right now?

12:39
Eno Sarris: Treehouse if you push me, but I love Cellarmaker.

12:40
2-D: Are we any more likely to see Urias in the bigs this season now that Anderson needs back surgery?

12:41
Eno Sarris: Yes, also because he’s more polished than his age suggests.

12:42
Eno Sarris: Recognize this sample from a rap song?

12:42
Rockies-fan: with his new ballpark, Gerardo Parra should put the same numbers on the board than Christian Yelich this season ?

12:43
Eno Sarris: Hey, that’s super possible actually. He’s a plus BABIP guy anyway, so he might hit .300 with 10/15 type numbers. Melky!

12:44
Ol Sea Capn : Oh… and what do you think about Jose Peraza’s playing time and Ketel Marte’s lineup spot? I want to drop amd get back cheap but others are now keen on them too.

12:46
Eno Sarris: Peraza needs a trade (BP) to play I think. That’s always dicey to depend on in a one-year league. .310 projected OBP for Marte is a little ominous. That’s second-worst in the lineup. He may not lead off.

12:46
Pale Hose: POMEGRANATE! The safe word is POMEGRANATE!

12:46
The Dude of NY: Carter Capps is visiting Dr. Andrews, might need TJ. WHY GOD WHY????

12:46
Craig in Chicago: “…it’s just beer”. This might be your “Schilling” quote?

12:47
Eno Sarris: hah.

12:47
Marc: Something crazy happens and you have to pitch 2 innings for a team this year. What team would you rather pitch for and against, and how do you think you’d fair given your pitching knowledge?

12:47
Eno Sarris: against the Mets because I would be terrible

12:48
Gary: Eno! Is Buxton worth a 15th round pick the next 3 years? Do you see him having some sort of impact this year to justify keeping him now?

12:48
Eno Sarris: This year definitely worth the gamble. But what if he’s not great. Then you stuck with two more years… Still, even an iffy year, you probably wouldn’t mind holding for one more shot, and then if he craps out, you only really ‘lose’ one year at 15th round.

12:49
dave in slc: do you spend more for high end pitching in an al only keeper league? I have Sale at 31 and Salazar at 21 and considering keeping both due to lack of “good” options

12:49
Eno Sarris: Auction calculator says Sale is worth 41 in 12-team AL-O!

12:50
My Socks are White: You a fan of Latos this season? What can we reasonably expect in terms of results?

12:50
Eno Sarris: I’m a fan of him on the $1 level, because his velocity and movement and per-pitch results haven’t fallen off completely yet.

12:50
Zod: Bill James is great in a lot of ways but he also appears to be a crazy person in a lot of other ways. Any insight into how his polemical side plays in league offices?

12:50
Eno Sarris: We are all crazy people in some way.

12:51
Shawn: Eno Sarris vs. Steph Curry 1 on 1 – who wins?

12:51
Eno Sarris: He’d make me look like Kristaps made Rovell look.

12:51
Eno is: At his peak, is Rougned Odor more of a .275-15-5 hitter, or more of a .300-25-10 hitter?

12:51
Eno Sarris: .275/20/10

12:51
Matt: I find Matt Boyd intriguing. A lefty with an average fastball, above average changeup, and a slider that could be above average.

12:51
Eno Sarris: Trouble keeping velocity though. I’d need to see some growth there.

12:52
Khris Davis: Some baseball writers think this is the season I put it all together. I’ve even seen a few call for me having a better season than the other Chris Davis! These writers are nuts, yes?

12:52
Eno Sarris: He hits the ball super hard and hasn’t played a full season yet. At least in terms of counting stats, this year should look good.

12:52
Sucka Emcees: Joc Pederson: overrated prospect with low pedigree who looks more like his second half of 2015 over his career? Or young, athletic, toolsy guy who was underrated early and has a potentially pretty damn high ceiling, if he can learn to make some adjustments? I tend toward the latter. What sayeth Eno?

12:52
Eno Sarris: Latter.

12:52
GSon: While it’s still early.. Cody Anderson made his ST debut a stellar one.. six up, six down, one K and threw his FB in the 96-97 range for both innings.. Impress you? or did you miss the boat while traipsing into the AZ wilderness?

12:53
Eno Sarris: Let’s see the velocity in more than two innings!

12:53
Fake Jason in an airport: I’d take you down to the post and abuse you. Thoughts?

12:53
Eno Sarris: I’m fairly soft on offense in the post, but on D I do as well as I can, can cause problems.

12:54
Tim: Trade Piscotty for Bregman and Mazara?

12:54
Eno Sarris: Yes actually. As much as I like Piscotty, getting two top-ten types (if not literally) is very sexy return.

12:54
Sean: Hey Eno. Never have really been a big beer fan. Although, I’ve only had the mainstream beers (coors, bud, miller, etc.). Is there a beer or other drink you recommend to get into alcohol? Thanks

12:55
Eno Sarris: I would try Firestone Walker Easy Jack, make sure to smell it first. Saison Dupont on the belgian side. If you like the EJ, try some IPAS. If you like the Dupont, try Belgians.

12:55
Physical: When does a player who is offered a QO take his physical? Would Anderson have taken one before being offered the QO? Does he take one after accepting? If so, I assume the team can void the QO if he fails? Just curious.

12:55
Eno Sarris: I think there’s an exit physical at the end of the year.

12:55
kevinthecomic: Stop at two kids — you can still play man-to-man. Once the 3rd shows up, you have no choice but to play a zone.

12:55
Eno Sarris: Exactly.

12:56
Eno Sarris: Also I’m averaging about 5 hours a night for the last ten days and I love sleep…

12:56
Eno Sarris: This is some super old school stuff

12:57
Archie: Hey Eno, I know you’ve talked about liking Chris Bassitt in the past. What do you think is a realistic stat line for 2016? Thanks!

12:57
Eno Sarris: 3.75/1.25/7.5K9. it’s better than projections but not crazy.

12:58
Eno Sarris: His velo has been better than predicted, his curve is really good, and I have hope for the slider.

12:58
Following Up: You say Machado over Stanton in a points league: is this because of health or even if we could somehow know that both would be healthy?

12:58
Eno Sarris: Position, health, growth for Machado.

12:58
Liberty: I’m nervous about a lot of things. Is that weird?

12:58
Eno Sarris: No, but remember to concentrate on your breathing.

12:58
2-D: I see a budding friendship between you and Smoltz, he seemed really interested in your findings.

12:58
Eno Sarris: I can’t wait to talk to him again.

12:59
Halp: Does the new batted ball stats (soft, med, hard%) only use exit velocity for its bins? Or are there other components that it uses?

12:59
Eno Sarris: Hang time and I forget what else. Not velo.

12:59
James : It was Ryan Braun, wasn’t it?

1:00
Eno Sarris: He was super intelligent and interesting to talk to actually.

1:00
Chico and The Man: Is Alex Reyes a buy and hold in a league where bench slots are at a premium?

1:00
Eno Sarris: I doubt he pitches much this year in the bigs.

1:00
Adam Wainwright: HOW DARE YOU DOUBT ME?!?!? WHAT’S YOUR PHONE NUMBER?

1:00
Eno Sarris: 8675309

1:01
Marc: Im trying to plan a trip out to Colorado soon. Any breweries out there I should try to visit? Plus what beer should I look for while im there?

1:01
Eno Sarris: Crooked Stave, Funkwerks (tropic king). Avery if you like strong beers (average the strongest beers in the US)

1:01
Nelson: Rank: KBS, Bcbs?

1:01
Eno Sarris: KBS

1:02
Jeremy Jeffress: Have I actually figured it out, or am I jus’ playin

1:02
Eno Sarris: figured it out

1:02
Otis: NITRO BEERS OVER EVERYTHING!

1:02
Dr. Zizmor: When analyzing MLB third baseman rankings, which is the superior non-parametric variance method – the Kruskal-Wallis test or ppe piv pop jpag shmorhg OMG I AM A WEREWOLF!!!!!

1:03
I’m smarterer: The shrug was totally Valencia

1:03
Eno Sarris: huh

1:03
Sir Nerdlington: No need to post, but I’ve noticed you’ve stopped using the “to be” verb in the last couple months in these chats. E.g. “they good” – You’re an accomplished writer, not Hawk Harrelson. I beg for a verb.

1:03
Eno Sarris: EFFICIENCY UBER ALLES

1:03
Bartwheat: How many home runs does Semien hit this year?

1:03
Eno Sarris: 16.5

1:03
Jeremy Jeffress: which club has the worst spring training facility?

1:04
Eno Sarris: Oakland, you could have guessed it probably.

1:04
Johnny5Alive: is hudson going to close in Zona? If zeigler stumbles, is clippard next on deck?

1:04
Eno Sarris: Hudson first in line after Ziegler for me.

1:04
Rick: Rank best to worst: Sculpin, Grapefruit Sculplin, Pineapple Sculpin, Habanero Sculpin

1:04
Eno Sarris: Pineapple, Regular, Grapefruit……………………………………… Habanero.

1:04
Bucco’s Cove: Will the Pirates be able to compete this year with only 2.5 good starters in their rotation?

1:05
Eno Sarris: They will work their magic and find a third guy and then move guys around on defense to make their 4 and 5 look decent.

1:05
Bork: The Reds should have a Votto day every month, or every 2 weeks, where Votto can choose whatever position he wants to play. Or like, he opens it up to fan voting to see where he’s going to play. If you’re going to be awful, you might as well be entertaining.

1:05
Eno Sarris: “Today I will play shortstop”

1:05
Justin: What’s your favorite offering from Modern Times? And what did you think of this year’s Pliny The Younger?

1:06
Eno Sarris: MT is so good. I think their City of the Sun was my most recent favorite, but Blazing World is the overall favorite. Pliny was good this year, not too syrupy.

1:06
Nelson: Can you use your press credentials to get into Warriors games?

1:06
Eno Sarris: No but there’s a secret tunnel between the two buildings that I accidentally walked through and now I’m sorta tempted.

1:07
Maxamuz: Mark Trumbo – 35 HR 85 RBI 80 R with a .820 OPS? Odds that he gets that (assuming he stays healthy)

1:07
Eno Sarris: No projection cracks a .800 OPS so I’ll give that a 30% likelihood.

1:08
The old professor: Gregory Polanco, Yelich, Will Myers, Conforto..please rank this year and career

1:08
Eno Sarris: This year: Polanco Conforto. Career? Might push Conforto ahead.

1:08
Jimbo: you buying the ZiPs line on Conforto? 610 PA’s and 26 HRs? I am bullish on him but that seems a bit aggressive this year at least.

1:09
Eno Sarris: I love him but no. 500 PA, .280/.350 with 20 or so is my cocktail napkin projection.

1:09
Aguas: Hey Enos. Here is an under the radar Mexican restaurant near Old Town Scottsdale called Los Olivos. Who has a better year T.Turner or K. Marte? Cheers!

1:09
Eno Sarris: Thanks! Marte because he starts the year with the job.

1:09
Teddy Broosevelt : Do you think Stroman will bounce back in 2016? Seemed like the K’s were down when he returned at the end of 2015

1:10
Eno Sarris: He traded vertical movement for horizontal and swSTR for Gs on each pitch so I think he may just be a really great GB guy.

1:10
Eno Sarris: George Springer oppo double

1:11
Jay: “Urias will ‘definitely pitch’ more than 100 innings this year according to Dodgers GM Farhan Zaidi”…Not exactly a ringing endorsement to have him make it to the majors as a big time contributor this season.

1:11
Eno Sarris: Unless you put him in the pen and then stretch him out over the ASG break.

1:11
Germans Do Beer Better: Oh, Brett Anderson and Matt Cain are hurt? We’re one Jurickson Profar injury away from the official start of the baseball season then

1:12
enos brain: have you been the to michael mcdonald summer camp?!

1:12
Halp: REGULATTTOORRRRSSSS mount up

1:12
Eno Sarris: yasss

1:12
klof: The wall changes in COL got me thinking. Which would you rather see/which would be more interesting for the game: a stadium with something like the Green Monstah all the way around the field at 300 ft, or a stadium with 4 ft high fences at 500 ft? There’s some magic to a fence at a distance and height that allows for stealing HRs, but would teams have an interest in extreme ballparks like this?

1:12
Eno Sarris: The 500 feet one because imagine someone like Jarrod Dyson on his horse. (and no, because it’s harder to win in extreme parks)

1:13
Maxamuz: You want a sample from a rap song – here it is.

1:13
Art Vandelay: If you want to trip out younger readers with samples they might not have realized you should post Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan.

1:13
Eno Sarris: All Steely Dan

1:15
Alex: Sorry if you see this twice Eno, but Imma ask a 2nd time: Please pick one of Fiers/Eovaldi/Wheeler. They’d be drafted a 13th rounder this season and keepable with a 12th next season. I’m pretty high on Wheeler with a 12th next year but I’m trying to win this season so it’s tough to fully commit to him this year.

1:15
Eno Sarris: You know what, the other options are actually bad enough I think Wheeler is okay. It’s possible none of them are worth a 13th round pick though.

1:15
klof: Should Ross still be Lester’s caddie? Would the Cubs be better off making Schwarber Hammel’s personal catcher to make space in LF for more Soler starts, but then have Montero eat into Ross’s starts? Ross could be a late innings defensive sub if the Cubs are up big (so, all the games, amirite?)

1:15
Eno Sarris: I’m a little worried about Schwarber messing with Hendricks’ development actually.

1:16
Guest: If you were to guess, when do you think we see Shohei Otani in MLB?

1:16
Eno Sarris: Three years.

1:17
Francis (RI): i keep wondering about these international upside guys (we do a prospect draft in my league) – lazarito, otani, kakie bryan, yadier alvarez – who do you think has the most upside?

1:17
Eno Sarris: Otani.

1:17
Jocular Pedant: I got offered Wade Davis / Domingo Santana for Joc Pederson/ Lewis Brinson and my first round pick in the 2017 unprotected players draft. This is a 16-team mixed dynasty league with no limits on how long players are kept and we can keep 15 mlb players per offseason plus our entire 5-man minor league rostsers.

1:17
Eno Sarris: no

1:18
Scott: Bucco’s Cove: Is Cellarmaker or Treehouse making the best pales and IPAs in America right now?

Grimm is making insane IPAs. Traded Lambo Door for a haul of Treehouse, and I take the Lambo over the Julius, Haze, and Lights that I received. Bold I know, but honest. Afterimage and Tesseract right there with the Lambo.

1:18
Eno Sarris: Damn I wish I had gotten a Grimm IPA instead of that sorta gross Spruce Gose.

1:18
Otis: Let’s be honest Eno, probably WAY worse than Porzingis made Rovell look!

1:19
Eno Sarris: Well I hope I’d have better posture than Rovell.

1:19
daneyko: difference (stats) between Sano and M.Franco

1:19
Eno Sarris: Huge, but in overall value, they may be closer than their prices suggest.

1:19
Sir: Still calling for major regression from Yoenis Cespedes? Or, do you think him playing where he is happy is enough to motivate him to play to the level he did last season?

1:20
Eno Sarris: I just don’t see that he changed much other than a few more fly balls. NL guys going to figure out the book and pitch to him and he’ll be good, but not last year again.

1:20
Jose: My gf gave me three imported beers for my birthday, according to beergraphs they are all bad to meh quality. What do?

1:20
Eno Sarris: Enjoy them and make up your own mind.

1:20
Hans Von Spankovsky: Ketel Marte rosterable in 12 man 5×5?

1:20
Eno Sarris: Yes

1:20
Daniel: Don’t know if you remember a few chats ago (as you may have been drunk) but I asked you about my league where in the draft they skipped the team I took over like 15 times. They ended up giving me a high pick in the 2016 draft (basically all the guys in the upcoming June 2016 class) and a good chunk of international bonus money. It isn’t a lot but it’s something

1:21
Eno Sarris: I’m never drunk in my chats they start at 9am for me lol. I do remember this and I’m glad you got something.

1:21
Guest: Paxton or Karns?

1:21
Eno Sarris: Karns

1:21
Seattle : I miss u

1:21
Eno Sarris: miss u too bae

Merv Throneberry: Trade Osuna for Soler?

1:22
Eno Sarris: no

1:22
doc ellis: Adam Lind is a real rock head, eh?

1:22
Eno Sarris: not him

1:22
Steve: what site do you use for an auction calculator?

1:22
Eno Sarris: fangraphs

1:22
SM: Yoan Moncada?

1:22
Eno Sarris: sure

1:23
the snake: 8 player keeper: trade mccutchen for c. seager?

1:23
Eno Sarris: no

1:23
Otis: What’s your opinion of Gose Gone Wild by Stillwater?

1:23
Eno Sarris: great

1:23
Dan: Is bigger always better?

1:23
Eno Sarris: not in elevators

1:23
senpaisanto: yo eno, whas yer take on maeda’s impact? you likey?

1:23
Eno Sarris: not really. NL makes more likely, but don’t love the stuff.

1:23
2-D: What % of MLB catchers do you think have the freedom to call their own pitches for a full game?

1:23
Eno Sarris: vogt claimed 100% but I doubt it.

1:24
metzwinston: What’s yer favorite Excel function or formula? Index/Match combo is pretty sick IMHO.

1:24
Eno Sarris: vlookup

1:24
Halp: For a good time give eno a calllllll

1:24
Shawn: I’m a fool to do your dirty work

1:24
austin meadows ass: YEAAAAAAAAAAA MON

1:24
Craig in Chicago: Do you recline your seat, when you fly? 🙂

1:25
Eno Sarris: no but I don’t hate on people and if the baby is asleep on me I will

1:25
Steve: Your chats are more stimulating than sex.

1:25
Me: So, not buying into Grandal’s high praise for Maeda?

1:25
Eno Sarris: he going to say he thought the stuff sucked?

1:25
mtsw: Steve Pearce on the Rays: something or not something?

1:25
Eno Sarris: vs LHP guy

1:25
Halp: will you tell us if we actually guess the right player?

1:25
Eno Sarris: In my own way I would

1:25
Sean: tell Shawn that he spells his name wrong

1:25
Guy on a plane: I smelled your hair when you slept on the plane

1:25
Eno Sarris: gack

1:26
ctw: if you dont draft posey this year who do you grab in later rounds

1:26
Eno Sarris: Mesoraco Grandal Vogt and in deeper league Realmuto.

1:26
SM: Piscotty or Grichuk this year, OPS league?

1:26
Eno Sarris: Piscotty

1:26
Miketron: Aramis Ramirez is the guy!

1:26
Eno Sarris: nope

1:27
Alex: Closer for Padres?

1:27
Eno Sarris: Rodney and then loser of Maurer/Pomeranz battle for roation.

1:27
Guest: It’s Chris Carter

1:27
jake: brett lawrie is the guy

1:27
Eno Sarris: nope on the second one, that dude talks a mile a minute.

1:27
Scott: Who is the best pitcher on the Mets this year?

1:27
Eno Sarris: Thor

1:27
Halp: it’s definitely Coco

1:28
Eno Sarris: he’s the one with the icy stare.

1:28
Jack: Is Oswaldo Arcia the Marcell Ozuna of the AL? The guy who just needs a trade out of his current situation to move on to something better?

1:28
Eno Sarris: Rosario is iffy enough that he could do it in Minny.

1:28
Horn Please ThankYou: Stash one in a keeper: Zimmer (Cle), Mazara or Moncada?

1:28
Eno Sarris: Redraft? Mazara. Texas going to plug him in somewhere at some point soon.

1:29
Jose: A-Rod just dingered

1:29
Frank: Juan Pierre 30+ steals?

1:29
MP: Would you sign HUndley and Kang for $5 each? 5×5 12 team mixed

1:29
Eno Sarris: Kang yes. Hundley only maybe.

1:29
enos brain: do you like websites?

1:29
Eno Sarris: bloggies.

1:29
Craig in Chicago: Will my Sox ever develop a position player? #waitingforAnderson

1:29
Eno Sarris: A’s have same problem.

1:29
Derek: I love your long chats Eno but I hate the fact I have to wait until it’s archived to read it at work. Odubbel Herrera had three months of a BABIP over .400 last year…how absurd is that?

1:29
Eno Sarris: not happening again!

1:30
James : How does Swihart do this year?

1:30
Eno Sarris: .270/.320 8 homers, decent work

1:30
Teddy Broosevelt : blink twice if it’s Chris Carter

1:30
Ryan: WE ARE THE REVOLUTION. LEAD US

1:30
MP: Oh that was A 2 catcher mixed with hundley

1:30
Eno Sarris: oh yes then.

1:30
John: What do you think about Alex Meyer and what will MIN end up doing with him?

1:31
Eno Sarris: I like him, but he didn’t even throw a single change last year and looks headed for the bullpen I guess. Maybe the next closer.

1:31
Craig in Chicago: Better offensive numbers: Eaton or Heyward?

1:31
Eno Sarris: Heyward.

1:31
Eno Sarris: Okay. The baby is sick and it’s my last day before heading out so I think I need to go. Love and kisses! chat from Arizona next week!

1:31
Scott: Best sour producer in America? Russian River? Hill Farmstead? Jester King?

1:31
Eno Sarris: RR.

1:31
Curious: Analytics gets it wrong just as much as scouts… right?

1:32
Eno Sarris: Sure, but both together the ticket.

1:32
SM: Which ballpark has best beer selection?

1:32
Eno Sarris: petco.

1:32
Eno Sarris: Okay NOW I WILL GO.
