Eno Sarris: Homers take a bit longer to be believable. And the K/BB was excellent, and I have Kyle Boddy — who works with Bauer — telling me that they worked mostly on command, which other than his changeup is the main thing keeping him back. I have three or four shares.

Eno Sarris: Hasn’t struck out yet! We only need another 100 or so plate appearances to believe his new strikeout rate! Just checked. He struck out 24% of the time in the spring, so give him another 75 PA and then maybe we can believe he’ll improve his strike out rate enough to carry a .240 batting average.

Eno Sarris: I mean, he’s not Brantley, not at all, but I do believe this will be his best power year. Brantley was a five-tooler that got aggressive. Snider is more of a power guy that was in a bad park and had to take a reallly long time to improve his approach at the plate.

Eno Sarris: I doubt you could do much better than a struggling young guy like Trevor Bauer, or a young guy without much pedigree, like Shane Greene.

Eno Sarris: Otherwise, go old and try to get someone like Ian Kennedy I guess. Not going to get you a stud position player or pitcher.

Heard on the Dodger broadcast that the D-Backs wouldn’t “let” McCarthy throw cutters for them. Why do teams not want pitchers throwing cutters?

Eno Sarris: Orioles wont’ either. They think it kills fastball velocity because the pitchers get around the ball. Haren said he agreed to some extent but his velocity was gone. Jesse Chavez said that too. But not everyone agrees, and it seems you can avoid the velocity loss if you don’t start cutting all of your fastballs. I don’t think blanket bans are a good idea for any organization. Each pitcher is different.

Eno Sarris: If you have an innings cap, on the road in SD and SF are indeed better. I wouldn’t look at his home/road splits.

Eno Sarris: It’s good that it came with an improvement in K and BB% vs lefties, but the zero homers against lefties is unsustainable. That said, the change actually had three inches more drop in his first start than last year. That could help him keep his gains.

We keep hearing about this crop of great young shortstops (Correa, Russell, Lindor, Seager), but are any of them, outside of Lindor, definites to stay at SS? Russell is playing some 2B at Iowa and it sounds like some scouts view both Correa and Seager as 3Bs long-term. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: Correa and Lindor for me. Russell? at second? I think he’s a really good shortstop, that surprises me. That said, baseball is full of former shortstops.

Eno Sarris: Syndergaard is a great one. I have a feeling that Seager might be in LA soon. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Sano up before Gallo. Maikel Franco is close and I like him more than most.

Is it OK to carry 0 bench bats in a 12 team H2H? I drafted a lot of lottery ticket pitchers because I waited a bit on pitching and got Cobb as my #3 late. But I got a bunch of guys like Hahn,Greene Eovaldi, Shoemaker,House,Martinez, even my wishful dream in Brandon Morrow. If it OK to sit on them for a couple months to see who breaks out?

Eno Sarris: Yes. I usually have one, but those few at-bats extra you get from a bench bat are usually overrated.

monopod? are tripods not allowed on the field? Get one! About looking into the camera–don’t do it. Eye contact with the camera only works with a lot of practice. Most people just look creepy.

Eno Sarris: I’m not going to be my own crew, so don’t want to lug a tripod around. The monopod is going to be fine. I have to look into the camera for my 120 sports hits, and have some practice, but noted.
