Eno Sarris Baseball Chat – 5/16/13

Eno Sarris: be here in 15

9:00
Eno Sarris: Super upbeat lyrics of the day! Because… Rankings week.

Feel it come, I don’t know how long
It’s gonna stay with me, I’ll let desire be, desire go
Oh, dare I face the real world

Everyday, back and forth, what’s it for?
What’s it for? Back and forth, everyday
Everyday, back and forth, what’s it for?
I don’t know, I’ll get out, won’t have to check my watch.

Think I got a problem down here…

Comment From Mark
Cathartic experience of the day: Dropping B.J. Upton. I feel like I did when I dropped CJ Wilson last year.

9:00
Eno Sarris: strange interlude.

9:00
Eno Sarris: prelude I guess.

9:00
Comment From person hscer
Keith Law is also chatting at noon today. My question is: what are your general feelings on competition?

9:01
Eno Sarris: I welcome you all back at ten, when I’ll still be chatting.

9:01
Comment From Nicky Numbnuts
Hi Eno, Once Brett Anderson comes off the Dl who should I drop? Lohse, Haren, Cashner or Fister. No bench and none will be kept. Thanks!

9:01
Eno Sarris: Lohse. Don’t like his home park or his stuff really.

9:01
Comment From person hscer
Forget streaming starters vs. HOU… opposing starters in MIA is where it’s at

9:01
Eno Sarris: I Leaked all over my opponent yesterday.

9:01
Comment From Tacoby Bellsbury
Very concerned about David Price. What’s a reasonable return? Grienke? Latos? Sanchez? Kuroda? Lower?

9:02
Eno Sarris: I would trade him for the first two. If I was really worried, maybe the second two. But nothing lower. Might as well wait to know more.

9:02
Comment From Tom
Can Viciedo stay this hot? Drop Willingham for him if I need HR/RBI’s ROS?

9:02
Eno Sarris: I’d like to see a sustained run of success against righties first.

9:02
Comment From Ben
Can Yelich fix my Ike Davis problem? Any ideas when he is gonna be up?

9:02
Eno Sarris: I don’t think they are in a hurry.

9:03
Comment From Rhymenosaurus
I’m debating offering Arenado & Fowler for Machado. Is this fair or am I offering to much/little?

9:03
Eno Sarris: that’s fine for me, even in a keeper. Especially if batting average league. Fowler a little more bankable in CF OBP leagues.

9:03
Comment From lowercase jeff
a few weeks ago i asked about what i could get for weaver. i thought the best i would do was a similarly broken player was adam dunn but you assured me i could do better than that. i ended up getting starlin castro. approve?

9:03
Eno Sarris: Of course!

9:03
Comment From John
Rather have J. Dyson or A. Eaton?

9:04
Eno Sarris: Eaton. Well, I know his job seems more in jeopardy, but if they both have jobs, it’s clearly EAton for me, and I just read the DBacks saying he has the job when he’s back.

9:04
Comment From Guest
O where O where can our Beergraphs be? Did Eno drink them? Or did the tea-tottlers kill it?

9:04
Eno Sarris: We are so close. June one is our drop dead date. Just collecting good pieces and refining the leaderboards. yes. Leaderboards.

9:05
Comment From Nicky Numbnuts
Also, with regards to Anderson, Haren, Lohse, Cashner & Fister. Would you drop any of these for Ogando? Thanks.

9:05
Eno Sarris: Lohse again. If you want both… could drop old man Haren I guess.

9:05
Comment From lowercase jeff
is fernandez a must-start (or at least start 90% of the time) pitcher now? start him tonight at home vs CIN?

9:06
Eno Sarris: He’s always been that for me. I don’t know why people don’t love him as much as I do. Crazy good stuff.

9:06
Comment From KJ
Two weeks later: you SURE i can’t drop Vogelsong yet? 20 teams but who has pitched worse??

9:07
Eno Sarris: Seems like he was always about a 3.75-4/1.3ish type pitcher, I think he still is. His k rate is over eight and he can walk an average number of batters.

9:07
Eno Sarris: I don’t get it. Really don’t.

9:07
Comment From Guest
“Young Player X is projectable.” What does this mean to you? I interpret that as saying that Player X can grow/add muscle and improve his velocity/power/etc, but I’m not sure if that’s right.

9:08
Eno Sarris: Yes. Also with a dash of ‘his flaws may be correctable.’

9:08
Comment From SS Consensus Ranks
Hi Eno…noticed on your 3b consensus ranks that you said that ‘this wraps up the infield’ but I don’t recall seeing a consensus rank for SS. Is this yet to come out or did I miss it? Thanks!

9:08
Eno Sarris: Oops! Those are coming later today. What had happened was…

9:08
Comment From Razor
My outfield is stacked and I have Granderson coming off the DL. Ideas for pitchers I should be targeting to trade my Beltran for?

9:09
Eno Sarris: These are so tough for me. I don’t work like this. I go to a team that needs OF pop and look at what pitchers they have. Plus, on here, it’s easier for me to say yes/no to actual names.

9:09
Comment From PalateWrecker
My platoon of Frazier + Moosetacos platoon at 3B is 🙁

9:09
Eno Sarris: Should finish the season with a .25+ average and 25 homers. In a deep league, that shouldn’t wreck your palate for more.

9:10
Comment From Queries from the Clown, bro
Please rank these speculative saves/setup guys for 5×5 h2h: Cook, Herrera, Burton, Joe Smith

9:10
Eno Sarris: Herrera, Cook.

9:10
Comment From Chris
Justin Upton fro Strasburg in a H2H? Pure value alone…

9:10
Eno Sarris: They both look like second-rounders this year.

9:10
Comment From Miketron
Is there any hope for Dillon Gee to turn things around or at least be servicable in NL-Only?

9:11
Eno Sarris: One thing Dillon Gee tries to do which is just straight up bad news is use his fastball high in the zone. His fastball is lucky to go 88. His changeup is nice, but it’s not getting the whiffs it used to. I’m not hopeful.

9:11
Comment From 3B or not 3B
Eno…I have Beltre and Machado and am doing well on offense. I could use a bump in some pitching categories like Wins, ERA and WHIP. What do you think about trading Beltre for a Kershaw, Felix or Hamels and rolling with Machado? Too big a drop off at 3B?

9:11
Eno Sarris: No that’s a good idea. Either way, actually. You have surplus.

9:11
Comment From Aaron
How do you approach fantasy owners for trades? The leagues I’ve been in, when I make offers, they are responded to as though blasphemy against God Himself — or they aren’t responded to at all. I don’t want to make obviously self-harming offers, but people seem to fail to understand that trades are generally a back-and-forth and the initial offer is just that, a starting point.

9:12
Eno Sarris: Trading is really really hard. I think the best thing to do is dispense with the first offer in your mind and go to the second one. That makes it close.

9:12
Comment From Peckerhead
Does Jose Fernandez have Kentucky Breakfast Stout upside (Top 5)?

9:13
Eno Sarris: You know what else Jose Fernandez has in common with KBS? Other than the Bourbon Barrel in Tennessee, it’s mostly surrounded by mediocrity.

9:13
Comment From hooha
I’ve been offered Wilin Rosario for Starling Marte (I already have sal perez manning the one C spot). I’m behind in HRs, but could use sal’s BA, should I pull the trigger?

9:13
Eno Sarris: Nope. Perez is a one-cat guy with a high BABIP at a position that doesn’t usually have high BABIPS, and a higher K% thatne he used to have.

9:14
Comment From Milhouse
Thoughts on nori aoki? Undervalued in fantasy?

9:14
Eno Sarris: Mostly correctly valued. In a scrum with other 10/30 guys. But if I could Aoki and something real nice for my Marte and something real terrible… that might work for me.

9:14
Comment From Ben
Help! I lost Aaron Hill as my 2b/ss in a deep league. I am now forced to add the likes of Yunel Escobar, Chris Nelson, Adam Rosales, Darwin Barney or Beckham.. Whom should I pick up for the next month (hopefully)?

9:14
Eno Sarris: Yuck. Esco plays a bit more that most, has a bit more upside.

9:14
Comment From gouis
HOSMOER OR ZOBRIST ROS?

9:14
Eno Sarris: Zobrist.

9:14
Comment From Pat G
Please help settle a debate. Which rotation would you rather have (6×6 with QS added) A: Darvish, Scherzer, Fister, Bailey, Samardzija and Beachy or B: A Sanchez, Greinke, CC, J Garcia, Cobb and Pettitte? Thanks

9:15
Eno Sarris: Darvish Shark Scherz side. and I like Greinke.

9:15
Comment From hooha
The day i get Greinke back Price gets hurt, FML…

9:15
Eno Sarris: RIGHT IN THE HOOHA

9:15
Comment From Savage Tenderness
Brett Gardner reduced role going forward?

9:15
Eno Sarris: No I’d bet on Ichiro’s role being most in jeopardy.

9:15
Comment From hooha
Ride Rickie Week’s or pick up Jedd Gyorko?

9:16
Eno Sarris: Kinda like Gyorko for the upside, especially if I was protecting batting average. Weeks is likely going to hit .230 RoS.

9:16
Comment From Chicago Mark
Hello Enos, what do you make of Kyle Kendrick? I may have asked this before. But too old to remember. Thanks for answering…..again?

9:17
Eno Sarris: I don’t love him. I know he’s altered his pitching mix a bit, but the peripherals are pretty much the same. Control can only get you so far. I’d call him a true talent 3.9/1.2 6k9 guy, which is back end stuff.

9:17
Comment From Chris
More likely to turn into a pumpkin, Corbin or T Wood/

9:17
Eno Sarris: Wood. For sure.

9:17
Comment From Jeff
How golden is Machado in keeper leagues?

9:18
Eno Sarris: Pretty golden. One thing that stands out for me are his low minor league BABIPs. Also, pretty sure he’s not going back to SS.

9:18
Comment From Kris
Neil Walker, Arenado, Matt Carpenter all pretty much equal ROS? Should I ever play Arenado away from Coors?

9:18
Eno Sarris: I have Walker slightly ahead because of position and a bit more power/speed combo than the other two.

9:18
Eno Sarris: MY CAT IS BACK!

9:19
Eno Sarris: Phew. My half-blind siamese rescue walked off, but he’s back.

9:19
Comment From DC
So I just completed a big trade in my keeper league… This is the last year I own Fielder and Tulowitzki and they go back into the pot after this season. I traded them both along with League and Ryu for Rizzo, Segura and Medlen. Can now keep Rizzo 4 years and both Segura and Medlen 5 years at rd 13 going forward. Was that enough of a haul?

9:19
Eno Sarris: Yes. yes that was great. I think you did really well.

9:19
Comment From Razor
Since it’s your job to do fantasy baseball, do you do my work when you should be doing fantasy stuff? I assume me wasting time on fantasy at work all evens out.

9:20
Eno Sarris: Actually, with BeerGraphs, you’re not far off. Except of course that’s beer related so what should I be doing when you’re drinking beer?

9:20
Comment From Alan
My daughter is sick again, and last night I jumped at the chance to stay home from work with her. My wife said “Are you ok? Normally I have to fight you on this..” The look on her face when I said Eno Sarris Chat was priceless.

9:20
Eno Sarris: I love you.

Comment From juan pierres mustache
McAllister vs SEA a good streaming option for H2H? Best alternative is…Jeff Locke vs HOU i guess. I feel bad because I know zero things about Jeff Locke so he’s probably not getting picked up

9:21
Eno Sarris: Ug, as a pitcher I like Locke a tiny bit better. and it’s an NL lineup.

9:21
Comment From Cliff
What is Brian Eno`s name was Brian Anu instead?

9:22
Eno Sarris: Funny thing, I’m German, at least my family is. And you actually say “E” as “eh” so when you say my name in German it pretty much sounds like “ehnal.”

9:22
Comment From KB
Why is Tyler Colvin in the minors w/ Cuddyer on the shelf and Todd Helton being shell of former self? Todd Shellton, if you will.

9:22
Eno Sarris: I don’t get it either.

9:22
Comment From Rick
Why can’t Machado move back to SS in the future?

9:23
Eno Sarris: I think it’s more that he won’t. Mostly people stay at their positions once they settle in, and the Miggie Cabs episode is the outlier.

9:23
Comment From Jim
Lose Rutledge for Hill when he comes back?

9:23
Eno Sarris: I love Rut Rut. Wait for that to happen and his BA will be better and you can trade him.

9:23
Comment From Ozzie G.
I am in a 6X6 head-to-head that includes Saves and Holds. I am punting on Saves and have Holds on lock-down. That said: if/when Jensen gets the nod in LA, what should of value should I expect in return? Top 25 OF? Bourn, maybe?

9:24
Eno Sarris: I’m very upset that J Crain just got traded for Hanley in a similar league I’m in. so you might as well shoot for the moon. But pick your team/victim wisely.

9:24
Comment From npf
is dondalson for real and if so should I trade headley for a ss in a h2h league. I have albertson at ss, moss 1b, rutledge 2b

9:25
Eno Sarris: I’m pegging Donaldson for about a .260 average rest of season, with 20-ish homer power. That’s real enough to trade Headley because good god this must be a deep league and you need an SS

9:25
Comment From Guest
Trying to deal saves for C. Me: Grilli, Kimbrel, Bell, Kenley. Other guy: Wilin, McCann. What’s the fairest 1 to 1?

9:26
Eno Sarris: If only you’d done this two weeks ago, you could gotten McCann for Grilli. Eh, I might still try that. Bell probably doesn’t have trade value and Kimbrel and Kenley are sexy time.

9:26
Comment From juan pierres mustache
How are your expert league teams doing?

9:26
Eno Sarris: Okay! AL-LABR is top four or five. Tout’s about the same. Blog Wars I’m in first or second daily. My ottoneu team is the one that’s seventh and I’m not happy with it.

9:26
Comment From Preston
Is there any reason to be optimistic about Brett Lawrie?

9:27
Eno Sarris: He’s shown power at multiple spots, he has speed, and most years he doesn’t strike out too much to have a good batting average. I’ll be all over him for cheap next year. And would buy him in a keeper league. In fact… I think I’ll go after him in this one where I need a 3B.

9:27
Comment From Topper Harley
I love me some over/under. Paul Konerko: O/U .275 average .. O/U 25 HR

9:28
Eno Sarris: Under under

Comment From Bert
Trade Bruce fof Fowler? 10×10 (doubles, triples, etc.)

9:28
Eno Sarris: The extra cats make me say yes.

9:28
Comment From Kate Upton: Fantasy MVP
Eno, have you ever tried anything by Buffalo Bayou Brewing? It’s a local Houston microbrewery that makes really good brews. I tried it for the first time last week and was highly impressed. Not sure how widely marketed it is (I haven’t been able to find it at a store yet), but you should try it if you happen across it.

9:28
Eno Sarris: good Houston microbrew is actually good news. For America.

9:28

Nibblin on big league chew
Watchin the ball fly
All of those pitchers arms covered with oil
Swinging my big bat
Oh the ball it goes smack
Smell the hot dogs Im begining to toil

Wastin away again in LUCAS DUDA-VILLE
Searching for my lost glove and bat
Some people claim that there’s a coach to blame
But I know it’s the damn bats fault.

You should just change the name of these chats to “Mostly Random Stuff with Some Baseball Interludes Sprinkled In”

9:30
Eno Sarris: Well hey baseball wrings us all together.

9:30
Comment From BEER AND ALSO BEER
Eno! I just found out you’re an Augustiner fan (my favorite brewery!). Have you found a place that carries it in the Bay? When I moved to Southern California it took me 2 years to find a place that carries it…for $20 a 6 pack.

9:30
Eno Sarris: BevMo usually has their stuff!

9:30
Comment From dude
Alan…I wonder how my girlfriend feels…Eno, I must have mentioned you like 3-4 times in a month. Which is a lot considering you are a guy…who is also a stranger…shiz just got weird.

9:31
Eno Sarris: Well if you’re in SF, CHI or NY, you can bring her to meet me at a FanGraphs/BeerGraphs meetup. That would be even weirder!

carlos beltran and huston street for derek holland and jaime garcia, who wins?

9:32

9:32
Comment From John
$5 Didi for $25 Hanram… Still Han Ram?

9:33
Eno Sarris: I suppose in a keeper league, if you were struggling, you might go Didi.

9:33
Eno Sarris: But I think Didi is probably a true talent .275/15/5 player. if the power is real, he could push that to .280/20/5

9:33
Comment From saskatunes
How golden is getting to keep Jean Segura in your last round forever?

9:33
Eno Sarris: Very. But I think you wanted more for knowing that was tame impala.

what are the chances Shelby Miller finishes ahead of Matt Harvey in end of year rankings?

9:34
Eno Sarris: I don’t see it. Well, wins might do it. But Harvey has more pitches. Ug, Miller is going to do it, isn’t he?

9:35
Eno Sarris: Oh. You are going to help ME. For once. pffft.

9:36
Eno Sarris: I’m in second in my Blog Wars league. I have a crazy staff for a fifteen teamer: CC, Harvey, Shark, Miller, AJBurnett, JFenrandez, JParker with Nathan and Wilhelmsen. I’m 40 over IP pace already, and have Colby Lewis and Corey Luebke coming at some point. Who do you trade?

9:37
Eno Sarris: Remember, Fernandez gets me the least back. Maybe not much at all.

9:37
Comment From dude
Is it a keeper league?

9:37
Eno Sarris: redraft

Samardzija and twice on Sunday.

9:38
Eno Sarris: You don’t believe?

9:38
Comment From dude
Considering your league is above smarts in fantasy, I would look for an owner that has a surplus of something, and make a trade if they need pitching

9:39
Eno Sarris: yeah but the best I’ve gotten with this approach is an offer of Hart plus something for Miller. And and idea (in my head) that I could go after Bruce somehow. I need BA and RBI. 5×5 cats.

9:39
Comment From juan pierres mustache
i chose fernandez, but mostly because i wonder if other people would be willing to give full value despite the IP limit. harvey maybe for the same reason but you probably won’t trade him because mets. Burnett maybe because of those guys, he’s the one most likely to have an inexplicable meltdown. I’ve been trading for Samardzija because he’s been slightly off lately and people seem jumpy, so I doubt you get good value for him

9:39
Eno Sarris: Fernandez IP limit is a problem.

9:39
Comment From Clownbro mcQuestions
I also always advocate selling SP who are out to a good start but are in their first full MLB season: fatigue is basically unavoidable and IP limits happen w/o warnings

9:40
Eno Sarris: So Miller or Harvey.

9:40
Comment From Wes
I have shameless love for AJ Burnett.

9:40
Eno Sarris: Well not so shameless if you can just yell it out like that.

9:40
Eno Sarris: Maybe I go that way and keep my younguns.

9:41
Comment From JT
In a leauge like that, I once won by NOT trading my excess pitching. I just dropped the scrubs for interesting daily plays for hitters and waved my genetalia at the rest of my league, metaphorically speaking.

9:41
Eno Sarris: It wouldn’t be a chat without metaphorical genetalia.

9:41
Comment From sea salt

9:41
Eno Sarris: He’s been pretty awesome in the NL.

DL stash: Luebke or Beachy?

9:41
Eno Sarris: Beachy for me.

9:41
Comment From Crusty
For years I bought Ron Shandler’s books before the advent of BP and FG. This year he piqued my interest when articles quoted him as down on Trout, which was contrary to popular expert opinion. His views on Trout looked smart until we hit May. Do you think Shandler might have been trolling for a little publicity with this opinion?

9:42
Eno Sarris: I cannot speak for his motives. And also, he could be saying that he’ll regress this year, and still be right. Like, I thought he’d regress, and tried to roll back all of his numbers, and still came up with .290/20+/40. He’ll probably outdo those power numbers and maybe come up short in steals, but that’s regression… and it’s also great.

9:43
Comment From Too Many Joes
My outfield sucks. Wil Myers is still coming up next month, yes?

9:43
Eno Sarris: June 15, I’d guess. To a bad BA and some power.

9:43
Comment From dude
But also remember, you can bench some of these guys in really bad matchups and that will save you innings

9:43
Eno Sarris: I thought that, but other than Fernandez and Parker… who you benching

9:43
Comment From Tom
Beergraphs needs to include available options at ML & later MILB stadiums and the prices. I’d hate to take a trip to a stadium I am not familiar with only to find they only have Miller Lite.

9:43
Eno Sarris: Finger. Nose. (and not for picking).

9:44
Comment From Matt
Are Burnett’s current numbers really that sustainable?

9:44
Eno Sarris: maybe not 100%, but 80+% yes I think so.

9:44
Comment From DDSP
FYI Eno that monstrosity of a trade (crain for hamlet) just got overturned in hustlers

9:44
Eno Sarris: Phew.

9:44

I have shameless love for Bartolo Colon: Here’s my FB, on the edges, try to hit it or watch it for strike 3….how can he possibly not help in whip w/ that approach?

9:44

Whats Ian Kennedy’s value at this point?

9:46
Eno Sarris: Actually think his control is going to better. Has a top-ten first strike rate (see my piece on Getting Blanked today). So I’d keep and wait for him to build a little more value.

9:46
Comment From KJ
I am waiting for the little new blurb about Harvey’s potential IP limit to fade away and then trying to trade him (in my less intense league)

9:46
Eno Sarris: he can go to 190. That’s not a ‘real’ limit, unless your H2H league goes to final day.

9:46
Comment From Tim

Don't ignore me little man!!

9:47
Eno Sarris: Oh god I mentioned weird, I brought this on ourselves again

9:47
Comment From dude
Outside of clear cut aces, I’d bench all of those guys at Cinci, at Colarado, at Texas…Harvey and the shark I’d start. CC you have to be wary of because of his velo…possibly long ball prone.

9:48
Eno Sarris: We looked at this internally for ottoneu points, which really dings you for homers allowed, and the do/don’t start line is far south of my guys. All of these guys are every-starters other than Jose, and that’s just because we don’t know enough. IMO. Maybe not AJB in Yankee stadium because of THE HORRORS.

9:48
Comment From Mike
Is there enough data now to draw any conclusion about team offenses going forward for streaming purposes? Miami’s been expectedly terrible, but at least to me, the white sox have been worse than I expected.

9:48
Eno Sarris: They’ve had a lot of PAs. I think you can say something about them.

9:48
Comment From Saison Season
w/r/t Shandler/Trout: even if he was trolling, it wasn’t like he was off the mark. If you passed on Miggy for Trout – you’re regretting it. Even with Trout heating up this month.

9:49
Eno Sarris: yeah but the top three picks aren’t ‘busts’ if they return top round production imo.

9:49
Comment From John
Do you think Gausman and/or Wheeler will be up? If so, projected ROS?

9:49
Eno Sarris: No earlier than June 15 for Wheeler. And I like him. Gausman a little more hittable right now, but could come up whenever.

9:49
Comment From juan pierres mustache
gosh, if you really need someone to go to all the major and minor league ballparks in the vicinity of Philadelphia and drink beer there i GUESS i could do that if you twisted my arm

9:49
Eno Sarris: Okay FINE I’ll go too

9:49
Comment From Patrick
Medlen… What’s up?

9:50
Eno Sarris: He wasn’t as good as we thought last year because he never had the K rate of an ace. Now he’s having a bit of trouble, but his control should get better (top four first strike rate). I just think he’s a decent #2 in fantasy.

9:50
Eno Sarris: (and was always, true talent)

I need power. Is Adam Dunn or Chris Carter rosterable in a 12 team, OBP league (2 Util spots, 3 OF spots, 1 1B and no CI spots)

9:53

9:53
Eno Sarris: Any question for the Royals? Going to try to interview some Royals tomorrow when they are in town for Oakland.

Beergraphs stadium edition would be awesome. Get on that! I can vouch that Minute Maid has a variety of refreshing craft beers (at unfortunate stadium prices, c’est la vie). Very underrated stadium though. Especially since you can sit behind home plate for $56 (true story – no one goes anymore).

9:55
Comment From Jonathan G
Do we see Billy Hamilton before September and does he have a fantasy impact this year?

Well I thought this was a roto 5×5 league. You look to protect your whip and era. You have all second half to play matchups and make adjustments. You are 40 innings ahead. Take the safe route and protect your ratios.

9:57
Eno Sarris: This is true. But I’d rather leap out in front, trade one for a bat (my OF right now (5OF, 15 team) is Marte, McCutchen, D Brown, Werth, C Quentin, L Martin, R Raburn, R Grossman). Wait, is that fine?

Eno Sarris: oops. I meant Kentucky/Tennessee. Because Founder’s is great.

9:58

I think people are wrong in the poll on trading CC. I would trade Miller. 75% FB. You know what you are getting from your other starters for the most part. Miller will get you back the hitter you need. Aj wont. So there is the difference.

Wait, so… your interview with Simmons, I tweeted you about his nickname Simba. What was the reasoning behind that?

10:04
Eno Sarris: I actually asked him about that and he said no lions. Just a couple of cats. He was named Simba… because a minor league coach thought it was easier than Simmons. It’s like “Simmy” or something similarly inane. Couldn’t figure out a good reason to put it in story haha.

12 team roto keeper league. Would you trade Scherzer for Pujols? I have a staff of Harvey, Anibal, Scherzer, Kennedy, Cahill and Beachy on DL. Scherzer would be $18 keeper next year, Pujols $35. I feel crazy for not jumping on this but Pujols injuries are holding me up.

10:18
Eno Sarris: I’m probably in the minority, but I would if they threw in a $1 pitcher and you gave them your first baseman. You may get no keepers out of one keeper, but Scherzer is not a great keeper for me in a keep-six, keep-ten situation. Even in dynasty. I see injuries coming.

But Travis Snider has had a couple HRs robbed defensively and some booming doubles.

10:33
Eno Sarris: And power takes forever to stablize. But he’s got like a career .400 slugging percentage and at some point…

should have listened to you on cingrani and sold him after his first couple starts… got greedy and now i cant get anything for him. Hold onto him or just git rid of him and be happy for the points (head to head points league) he has given me to this point?

10:33
Eno Sarris: Hold until they really say what’s up.

Trade Gausmann and Odorizzi for Archie Bradley in dynasty keeper pts league? Just got an offer.

10:33
Eno Sarris: Nah, keep the quantity.

10-team, 5×5, H2H. There are tons of mediocre 1Bs available in my league: Hosmer, Moreland, Morneau, Loney, Carter, Morales, Ike, Belt and Alonso. Ride one of them or stream from week-2-week?

10:34
Eno Sarris: I’d own Hoz if i owned one, but Moreland at home is good. Maybe two. Moreland and Hoz. Play moreland v rhp, hold Hoz for upside.

is there any better way to encourage intelligent responses to rankings? the 3B rankings had someone who asked how JZ could rate lawrie over machado, then JZ gave his exact projections for both, then the guy responded “well i think machado gets more ABs than that”. I don’t have any real ideas, but it seems like every response is just “i don’t think that’s right and i don’t really care why you do”.

10:34
Eno Sarris: That was a decent exchange actually. At least we know why the rankings are different for those two people now!

What’s with Desmond Jennings? Is he a slow starter, or just not as good as when he had the prospect hype?
