Kiermaier’s Piercing Green Eyes: The league made sure that the sanctity of baseball was protected and that Brad Miller will no longer use his contraband pink bat after his illegal 3-5 performance on Monday. This feels like a missed opportunity for the league. Why can’t players get whatever color they want, lightsaber style? Cespedes could get a neon bat to pair with that garish arm sleeve, players could use colors to support causes, sons of former big leaguers could honor pop by using the same color…seems like an easy marketing opportunity and chance to add more personality to the game.

Greg: So it looks like Freddie Freeman’s wrist is probably fractured. Any long terms concerns with any injury like that?

Eno Sarris: Yes. Hamate problems sap power, wrist is pretty bad for that sort of thing.

Eno Sarris: Background: Samardzija was ranting a bit to me the other day that the game is too scripted and over coached, that there isn’t as much fun and unpremeditated individuality. I responded that he sounded old and what did he complain about as a young player and he said “day games.” He said that he wished players could go out there without the scouting reports, throw low and away for strike one and see where the game goes. He thought there should be more balls in play because people at the game have no idea what each pitch type is, even with the gun’s help, and that they want to see people “throw the ball away, fall down, run around.”

John: is E5 broken? Is Schwarber really just a left-handed Mike Napoli as has been said? Will Kyle Hendricks finish 2017 with a sub 3 ERA?

Eno Sarris: Godley’s change has some upside, not much wiggle, but good drop and decent velo gap. Curve is sexy. Cutter maybe.

CamdenWarehouse: In all of last week’s discussion on the place of ties in baseball, I’m really surprised that no one was advocating for more managers to dress like Connie Mack.

Eno Sarris: I think it’s sorta ridiculous that we wheel guys like Bobby Cox out there in a uniform.

Eno Sarris: I honestly didn’t see this coming, and there is a whiff of unsustainability about it. Not just the strand rate and things like that — the idea that he can keep batters swinging when he never throws in the zone kinda boggles my mind. Look at Liriano’s ups and downs, that’s his closes comp in zone%. But Keuchel has command and Liriano doesn’t, I guess.

spencer: who gets call first- rosario or brinson?

Eno Sarris: The need is bigger for Rosario. The team keeps claiming they won’t, but I think things magically change in two to three weeks.

2-D: Would you rather have Bautista or EE RoS?

Eno Sarris: EE

Eno Sarris: Bet the scouting report caught up because he was more into the fastballs. I don’t think he should throw a lot of fastballs. He’s like a 75-80 guy.

Asdrubal: Thoughts on JC Ramirez as the SS rate goes down but the results stay good?

Eno Sarris: Getting comfortable with the sinker, I guess. Hopefully that means he’s commanding it more. He was throwing more breakers than fastballs for a long time, now it’s a more conventional 50/50… I like him in that 60-70 range.

Superfly: Did you ever have white guy dreads?

Eno Sarris: Never could go for it.

Eno Sarris: There’s something a little weird to me about it because it’s like a religious thing where I was born. And I’m not a rasta.

Asdrubal: So… What is Eddie Butler now? Looks like he used the slider a lot.

Eno Sarris: I … don’t know. I’m not that into it as a big time slider guy trying to go for ground balls, though. Doesn’t have great command. Velo is good, I’d pick up in the deepest of leagues I guess.

Eno Sarris: It’s a hard change now, with some movement… small gap, I doubt it.

Sim: Do you see Knebel sticking as the closer in Milwaukee?

Eno Sarris: I like Barnes, but yes Knebel is good.

RotoLando: Is it time to completely write-off Jung Ho Kang, even in deep dynasty leagues?

Eno Sarris: Man I’m still holding in my deepest. He has a couple key dates coming up this year.

Asdrubal: Karns is pumping his curve in there a lot, is he pomeranzing?

Eno Sarris: I love it. It’s a great curve. It’s he hardest it’s ever been now too. Change has been the best it’s been too. Definite pickup. 50-60 rank.

Al: A) Do you think this is a good time to sell high on Darvish? Am a little concerned about the decreased K-BB% and a possible trade to an even worse home park (NYY/COL). B) Any idea what kind of 3B I might target for such a trade? 7×7 league with OBP and 2B’s for hitters and QS and HR allowed for pitchers. C) Do I need to switch to decaf?

Eno Sarris: I might only trade him in a dynasty. I think he could have Cy worthy season this year.

Asdrubal: Any sleeper prospects you’re stashing in dynasty leagues?

Eno Sarris: Tyler Krieger, Forrest Wall, Jasrado Chisholm, Miguelangel Sierra, Mike Soroka, Triston McKenzie, Takahiro Norimoto. Don’t at me if you think some of these are studs and not sleepers, I don’t care.

Pikup Androppov: When Brent gets the call later this summer will he do Honey-well Honey-bad or just Honey-ok?

Eno Sarris: Honey-well I think. I guess if nobody swings and he walks the lineup, that might be a problem, but I think he can fire it near the zone. Park will help smooth out some of the command issues. Not Snellian with the command.

Frank: The way the Orioles treat Hyun Soo Kim is very strange right? It’s like he’s still never recovered from that hitless streak in spring training last season.

Eno Sarris: It’s possible that they just see his defense as really bad, which would make him a one-tool (OBP) guy.

OddBall Herrera: Alonso has gone two weeks since his last hit that wasn’t a homer…sure, he changed his FB% but that home run rate seems really fluky, no?

Eno Sarris: No, I think it’s the BABIP we have to worry about. Moved the launch angle so far that he shouldn’t have a plus BABIP.

Joey: Verlander… Velo is up for all his pitches. But SwSt% is down and results aren’t good. Is this another slow start or something more like a decline?

Eno Sarris: I think velo more steady than up if you look at Brooks. I think he’ll right the walk rate and be good if not vintage.

Pikup Androppov: Any hope for Matt Moore or is he basically just a tee that can walk people at this point?

Eno Sarris: The cutter has helped his command and hurt his whiffs. I think he should dial that pitch back just a bit. Man that reminds me I never wrote up our conversation about the cutter. Not enough hours in the day.

Eno Sarris: Well there’s Kang news! Welp, he lost the appeal. “Kang, due to the suspended sentence, can avoid jail time if he is on his best behavior over the next two years. But it’s quite possible that he won’t play baseball in the U.S. again.”

clubwart: say the rays are hovering around .500 come trade deadline, and they get there by doing largely what they’ve been doing up to this point: TTO’ing the hell out of the league, solid to above average starting pitching, and mediocre to abysmal relief pitching that costs them games. do you think they push in to get an elite-ish reliever, given the market, or do they forego this year? i can’t help but get frustrated knowing that, if games ended in the 6th inning, their record would be something like 21 – 9

Eno Sarris: Maybe more likely that they try Faria or someone out of the pen and capture magic that way.

Eno Sarris: Thought it would be Zych. Teams don’t usually use lefties. But Pazos has great velo and K%, so it could be him. I think it’ll be Diaz eventually.

Eno Sarris: Not about that specifically, but I do know he gets down, it’s a thing you can see in his body language. That’s okay, I would too.

another bad dynasty manager: I’m stashing Cotton on my bench, b/c I read somewhere he’s been tipping his pitches. It’s a deep keeper league (16 tms) so there isn’t much available. Am I making a mistake for holding him on my bench?

Eno Sarris: I’m holding in similar situations even as I drop in shallower leagues.

Scooby: Eno, would LOVE to have you rank these SPs ROS: Lackey, Roark, Andriese, JC Ramirez, Karns, Godley. In a 12-teamer, where would you draw the line between roster-worthy and streamer? Thanks!

Eno Sarris: Lackey Roark not streamers. JC R, Karns, ZG, on the line. MA streamer type in most leagues. I know MA looks decent but I’m not starting him in Boston or New York.

Moltar: For real, Freeman was like my entire offense. If he is out 10 weeks as reported, is that basically the end for his season? If I’m going for it, should I try to flip him even though he’s a prized keeper asset at his price?

Eno Sarris: IF you can stay afloat, getting him in August and September could be huge.

Bella Hadid’s Panties: Samardzija’s warmup routine sucks. It’s totally unscripted, which is partly why he’s inconsistent.

Eno Sarris: Maybe. He did say that he spends some time figuring out what he’s got that day in the game, and that he’s getting better at in-game adjustments on the fly. Just that kind of guy, I guess. I like the sinker/slider/split guy he’s been this year.

Oddball Herrera: Know you were a Soler guy in the past, think he could still pull an Ozuna now that he has regular playing time?

Eno Sarris: Too many whiffs, has a hard time with breaking balls.

Eno Sarris: okay one more

J.D.: Rich Hill had a great curveball, threw it way more, became awesome. Does same apply for a changeup? Or is it more reliant on at least a touch of fastball usage to be effective?

Eno Sarris: Maybe for the hard change, the super sinker type. But the Estrada/Clippard straight change? I think if it was thrown more than 50% of the time, people would start sitting on it.

Dom: Odor is still so young. Can he get a hold of whatever is happening to him? know you’re a fan

Eno Sarris: Too many fly balls? Leading to too many pop-ups. Not going to have a great BA this year, but maybe he learns from it a bit.

Eno Sarris: I think what we’re learning is that he never had great command. But if he’s pumping gas in the zone, maybe there’s still hope. I remain confounded.

Eno Sarris: Look at his pitching mix changes.

Eno Sarris: breakouts almost always come with a big change in mix.

JJP: Mike Leake keeps putting up great games. My gut says trade him but he’s outpitching Harvey on my roster. Trade them both?

Eno Sarris: Man that might get you an interesting pitcher as a buy low sell high combo. I don’t really believe in Leake but he does have plus command, which is lacking today.

Short on power: What type of middle infielder could I trade Justin Turner for? Any idea where his pop went?

Eno Sarris: Talked to him about it and he wasn’t worried, and I don’t know that I am. Still hitting fly balls — more actually — and doing well with them. He said he starts slow for whatever reason.

Help!: Montas is starting to pitch really well. Any way he gets closer gig or Oakland to cheap for that?

Eno Sarris: Eh they don’t keep guys that get expensive, they might do it. But it’s a committee. Anyway I do like Montas the reliever.

John: I had both dreads and followed phish for several years, Eno. No question here, just agreeing with you. In retrospect it was totally the purposeful formation of an image and I certainly wasn’t living by Rasta principles at the time LOL

2-D: I do remember Samardzija saying his split gets classified as a slider and his cutter gets classified as a fastball. How right do you think the tracking systems are getting it overall?

Eno Sarris: Better now, my questions all lined up with what he’s doing. He’s not turning his back to the batter as much any more, and that robbed him of his cutter, but gave him more drop on the slider and split.

Matt: Re: Joc and also Justin Turner, low HR/fly ball, that going to normalize for sure this year or is it possible they just underperform on over the fence power all year?

Eno Sarris: HR/FB is a really noisy stat that is not very useful. Turner is doing everything right and will be fine. Joc, not so much, but I believe in him as a power/patience/D platoon OF going forward, and I don’t think they have a better defensive CF that they want to run out there this year.
