Eno Sarris: went here last weekend, couldn’t get the song out of my head
12:00 |
Comment From smashinunicornsAHHHHH STOP HITTING ENTER
12:00 |
Comment From ShawnGot my hands on some Sip of Sunshine. What are your thoughts on it? If I remember correctly you like over Heady Topper?
12:01 |
Eno Sarris: Yes! And that Fiddle beer, I like it over Heady too. I think Heady might be the sixth or seventh best beer in Vermont after I get my hands on some Hill Farmstead.
12:01 |
Comment From ShawnAnibal Sanchez was just dropped in my 10 tm- use waiver priority to grab him or just stream the spot? Could use another SP
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Anibal still ten team roster worthy.
12:02 |
Comment From smashinunicornsTraded vmart and mookie for edwin. Lets take a moment to fap at my lineup. Grandal, Rizzo, Kipnis, Beltre, Castro, Harper, Stanton, B Hamilton, Pujols, Edwin. SCHWING!
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Nice. When Billy Hamilton and Albert Pujols are the worst hitters in your lineup, you’re winning.
12:02 |
Comment From Julio PepperI want some validation after being mocked: Salazar’s better than Carrasco, right? The man looks filthy on the mound.
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Both filthy, both have command and health issues.
12:02 |
Comment From Maxamuz
So many day games.
12:02 |
Comment From NolanAnthony Rizzo has made adjustments. Is he quickly becoming the games top 1B?
12:03 |
Eno Sarris: Starting to exceed even my high expectations for him.
12:03 |
Comment From STSWork is out of the question when you are online!
12:03 |
Comment From BradEno! Are you buying Yasmany Tomas yet? Has he made any noticeable adjustments?
12:03 |
Eno Sarris: We talked on the podcast about this, but I am surprised by the contact rate (average) and spray (average-ish). But! He still reaches way too much and swings a ton. I think the K% will go up.
12:04 |
Comment From Ron Swanson
12:04 |
Comment From All InWhat are your thoughts on Jon Singleton – Destroying AAA. Do you think he can be something meaningful to the Astros this season? The more elaborate the response… the more appreciated!! Thanks a lot.
12:05 |
Eno Sarris: He’ll be up. They locked him into a contract, so there’s no need to keep him cheap. I figure they’re looking at the construction of the major league roster and don’t want to lose an asset to bring him up. But that K% (19%) in Triple-A is his best, and that’s good news.
12:05 |
Comment From GuestWhat do you expect from Jamie Garcia? How many innings until his shoulder explodes again?
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: He always does well by arsenal score type analysis because all of his pitches get good whiffs, but for some reason he never gets good K% and his WHIP is always high. I think he might benefit from a different pitching coach, actually. He might be a great K guy if he went for the grounder less often. Anyway, he’ll be good/okay, and then he’ll be hurt.
12:06 |
Comment From KrisWho appears in the Majors first: Rusney or Correa
12:06 |
Comment From MiketronWith Crisp most likely heading the DL, how much run should we see out of Billy Burns?
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: He didn’t get a ton of ‘burn’ last time.
12:06 |
Comment From ReturnOftheMackSpangenburg, Middlebrooks, Gyorko. Let’s play Keep, Trade,
12:07 |
Eno Sarris: Honestly, I don’t think you get any value in a trade from any of them unless it’s Spangenburg, and he’s playing best. You keep and you try to squeeze one starter out of the bunch.
12:08 |
Comment From HouzerI’ve heard some fantasy analysts saying that Rusney Castillo will prob be a top 30 OF once called up. So would you rather- Gordon or Rusney once the call-up happens?
12:08 |
Eno Sarris: Gordon will hit more homers. He’ll probably get more plate appearances, so more R/RBI. Rusney will steal more and hit for better average, but in fewer PA. I’ll take Gordon.
12:08 |
Comment From KrisYunel or Kang in my SS slot until Segura/Correa are back/called up?
12:08 |
Eno Sarris: F it take Kang
12:09 |
Comment From hscerAnswer: Marvin Hudson, Angel Hernandez, Joe West, CB Bucknor, Bob Davidson, and Laz Diaz. Question: What is the worst conceivable postseason umpiring crew?
12:09 |
Comment From EWHas Y. Tomas shown enough spark to justify ownership in an NL-only lg?
12:09 |
Eno Sarris: Oh yeah there, for sure.
12:10 |
Comment From RAGSHow scared are we that Tulo is headed for a lost year? In an NL-only league, if I can sell name-value and get 90 cents on the dollar, do I take it?
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: Not really that worried yet. I’ll keep him.
12:10 |
Comment From jocephus
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: Uh this is awesome.
12:10 |
Comment From ThroneberryfieldsforeverDesperate for starting pitching now Eno, please rank these gentlemen: Samardzija, Colby Lewis, Phil Hughes. Many thanks.
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: Shar, Hughes, Lewis.
12:11 |
Comment From Sardinas Happ Abad OdorEno! I am in a shallow H2H league and need some advice at C. Who should I roll with ROS? Gattis, YMolina, YGomes, Wieters, or Vogt? Thanks
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: Vogt. Gattis. Yan.
12:12 |
Comment From HouzerJay Bruce … 25HR / 90RBI / 10SB seem about right for a finishing line?
12:12 |
Eno Sarris: Sure, but without looking, will take under on SB.
12:12 |
Comment From AndrewShouldn’t the value catcher’s provide by pitch framing be used as an argument in favor of using a digital strike zone? It rubs me the wrong way that the batter is being punished for doing something correct (laying off a ball). And with the new pitch framing metrics, this has been shown to alter the outcome of the game fairly significantly. Thoughts?
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: My piece went up about how framing has changed Andrew Cashner this year, so it’s crazy how framing gets its fingers into all parts of the game. But Questec/PFx got us this zone, too, so there are benefits and drawbacks. Here’s something I thought of recently: the human strike zone allows baseball to manipulate scoring without changing large-scale rules. Is that a benefit? Maybe. I might like a little more scoring without changing the mound height, for example.
12:14 |
Comment From Captain ObviousProbably goes without saying Jose Quintana is a better play ROS than Carlos Rodon.
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: Need to see more changeups, or barring that, way better command of the slider.
12:14 |
Comment From Ryan MattosLoving Chase Anderson right now!
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: Me too! I think more Ks will come.
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: But it is worth noting that changeup swinging strike rate had the lowest correlation to overall swinging strike rate among the pitches.
12:15 |
Comment From Johnny WeezPliny the Elder is better than Pliny the Younger…. discuss
12:16 |
Eno Sarris: Disagree! Pliny the Elder is yesterday’s best IPA. Pliny the Younger is today’s best Triple IPA.
12:16 |
Comment From AndrewStart deGrom against the Cards today?
12:16 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheyou know how some players take to a new position well and others don’t? if you ever want to see a visual representation of that, watch mookie betts play CF last year and then watch hanley in LF this year.
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: Related to how well they did the last position!
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: Love how the Hanley to Manny transformation is now complete, too, with that throw right into the ground.
12:17 |
Comment From LarryAI know its been an insane hot streak, but is Kipnis’s power back to where he used to be in 2013? can he get back to 15hrs / 20sbs?
12:18 |
Eno Sarris: I always thought he could. He was underprojected for power because of his injury last year. Of course, he’ll get to 15 homers in two streaks like this, that’s what he seems to do, but he’ll get there.
12:18 |
Comment From LarryAAm I biased because I e-stalk you, or are Sours getting the push that IPAs got the past couple of years? Can you check if there has been a spike in Check-ins recently (Ex-Eno)
12:19 |
Eno Sarris: I will check this. It certainly seems this way, but then I give sours to some of my friends and I get the Bitter Beer face. “It’s vinegar, make salad dressing with it,” says my mom. (not a bad idea if it wasn’t so expensive, might be a good salad dressing)
12:19 |
Comment From JoeyIs it too soon to cut bait with Polanco? He doesn’t look like he has improved on last year at all…. looks worse actually
12:20 |
Eno Sarris: I still see a lot of talent. Still stealing bases, still making more contact than average. Still patient. Still athletic. Pulling the ball too much this year, sure, and for some reason K-ing more. And that play to end the extra-inning game was embarassing. But I don’t think the team has other options, and I think the 23 year old has a lot of improvement left.
12:20 |
Comment From mtswDue to wacky scoring system, Denard Span is one of the 10 most productive players in my fantasy league this season (despite missing time!). Is this awesome or should I be mad at my commissioner for making the league so wacky?
12:21 |
Eno Sarris: Boo. He should be useful but not essential.
12:21 |
Comment From JonnyAll closers and set up men are rostered in deep AL only. What MR/LRs do you like for ratios and K’s?
12:21 |
Eno Sarris: Carson Smith, Kevin Jepsen, Junichi Tazawa. Within a snort of saves too.
12:21 |
Comment From Chicago MarkAny chance the Cubs call up Schwarber to play left field? Coghlin has been bad outside yesterday.
12:22 |
Eno Sarris: Hasn’t played outfield this year in Double-A. I think that makes it unlikely.
12:22 |
Comment From Josh GWhat do you think of James Paxton ROS? He’s still showing control issues and the SwStr% is way down.
12:23 |
Eno Sarris: Honestly, he confounds me. I think he might be able to manage what he’s doing, he’s done it so far. But I keep looking for some sort of breakthrough because the stuff can seem so awesome at times.
12:23 |
Comment From mtswTsuyoshi Wada: worth a look in 10 team league or looked good last night mostly cause of Petco?
12:23 |
Eno Sarris: Bad fastball will show up on warm days in smaller parks.
12:23 |
Comment From MSWShoemaker primed for a bounceback, right? Like him or Lohse ROS?
12:23 |
Comment From LanceWould you drop Blackmon for Rusney Castillo when he is up?
12:24 |
Comment From hondoENO IM MOVING TO PALO ALTO. how awesome is rose and crown.
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: Very! Well it doesn’t smell great and there’s a bit too much Palo Alto brewing on tap, but it changes the tap list a ton and the events are great. Let’s have a beer sometime.
12:24 |
Comment From RPStill buying in on DeSclafani? I know it’s early still.
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: I’m still hanging out with him and Shane Greene, feeling pretty good. They have good stuff. Both are trying to figure out a new-ish arsenal.
12:25 |
Comment From Brad PDo you have Gio as a top 30 SP rest of season? I know the underlying peripherals tell a more optimistic story than his ERA & WHIP. The eye test just seems to indicate he’s a bit more hittable and inconsistent this year.
12:26 |
Eno Sarris: Ground ball career high, swinging strike rate career low, many more sinkers. That seems reversable, if he wants to reverse it. Shape and velocity of his pitches is the same! Command problems haven’t completely returned.
12:26 |
Comment From EricThoughts on Tolleson holding down the Texas closer role for the remainder of the season? Has an averageish fastball and what looks like two plus pitches (SL and CH).
12:27 |
Eno Sarris: You know, Feliz was at 93 and has okay swinging strike rates. Still possible he returns. But I do like Tolleson, better command than Burgos, the other new closer.
12:27 |
Comment From Johnhow much faab you spend on mccullers?
12:27 |
Eno Sarris: 6%? Good stuff, bad command.
12:28 |
Comment From Ryan+MattosC Anderson G Polanco for C Santana C McHugh Roto
12:28 |
Eno Sarris: Redraft yes, dynasty no.
12:29 |
Comment From BMI still need a MI since the position still sucks in a shallow 5×5 redraft. Rank ROS Kang, Hardy, Phillips, Crawford, Pearce, Valbuena? Does Aaron Hill (ew) fit in with these guys?
12:29 |
Eno Sarris: Phillips Kang Hardy Pearce
12:30 |
Comment From Better hold in a keeper league: Daniel Norris or Gausman?Better hold in a keeper league: Daniel Norris or Gausman?
12:31 |
Eno Sarris: Norris just because he’s not getting jerked around and isn’t hurt?
12:31 |
Comment From marcsuggestions for a beer novice? I want to try something really different. Not into IPAs or really hoppy beers. Thanks!
12:32 |
Eno Sarris: Saison Dupont. Goose Island Matilda. Firestone Walker Easy Jack. Rodenbach Grand Cru. If you like the first two, you might like Brett beers, which means you can check out some sours and saisons. The last one is a sour. The middle one is a session IPA, which isn’t super hoppy.
12:32 |
Comment From jonAny reason to hold on to LaRoche (10-team) if I’ve already got Rizzo, (1B) Votto (Corner), Machado (3B), and Bryant (UTIL)?
12:32 |
Comment From Josh GHow much are you buying Rubby De La Rosa? Potential top 40 starter?
12:33 |
Eno Sarris: Consistent slider, good change, good velocity, okay command, should get more Ks, I think he can beat projections and be about 3.75/8.5k9/1.2 whip from here on out.
12:34 |
Comment From DanI have Seimen and Bogarts formy ss in a 12 team h2h Safe to drop Bogarts to clear roster space?
12:34 |
Eno Sarris: Redraft, okay.

Eno Sarris: pieced together interlude
12:34 |
Comment From Reginald Denton IIIWhat did you think of Bryce Harper’s ejection last night? He got a raw deal that time, didn’t he? He was back in the box and it was his dugout that pushed things too far.
12:35 |
Eno Sarris: Hot headed ump, hot headed player. “Get in the box” is “shut up boy” is inflammatory language.
12:35 |
Eno Sarris: Let’s just all swim mountain
12:36 |
Comment From Josh GWould you take whatever you could get for Corey Dickerson? Could the Rockies potentially shut him down for good?
12:36 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t think so. I wouldn’t sell low. Not like he was playing terribly while suffering. To some extent, it’s a pain threshold injury.
12:36 |
Comment From Won IDo you wish you owned more Justin Upton shares?
12:37 |
Eno Sarris: Happy I kept my shares, not necessarily buying a ton more. Though if he changes teams at the end of the year…
12:37 |
Comment From Raoul DukeShould I give up on Melky and LaRoche or keep starting them like an idiot?
12:37 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll keep starting Melky.
12:37 |
Comment From Legend of joe panikDynasty, votto carpenter and bogaerts for Bryant and tulo?
12:37 |
Eno Sarris: yes. (Bryant side)
12:38 |
Comment From JohnPlease tell me there are positives for Soler? Getting really frustrated with him.
12:38 |
Eno Sarris: He’s got way more power than this and he’s been going with the pitch more recently. He’s made two huge adjustments already in his career and he’s 23. I’ll buy your share if you want.
12:39 |
Comment From RAGSAnother NL-only q: Is there any upside in owning Eddie Butler if you have to take every start? Guys on the wire include Vogelsong, Kyle Kendrick, Jerome Williams and Hellickson.
12:39 |
Eno Sarris: Ottavino thought that Butler was a tweak away from glory, and I think that could be true. Great change. Good fastball. Needs something. The rest of the guys have one pitch or no pitch and are just as prone for blowups.
12:39 |
Comment From JonStill like Ziegler in Arizona for saves?
12:39 |
Eno Sarris: Best rule in saves is Who Got The Last One, so no.
12:40 |
Comment From BiggyMookie Betts: I know he has a low BABIP, but seriously. Doesn’t he at some point have to, you know, get hits to justify my rostering him as a starting OF? Thinking of going with Dexter Fowler instead
12:41 |
Eno Sarris: Above average hard hit % too. But there’s a pop-up problem there, too. His rest of season projections dwarf Fowler’s though.
12:41 |
Comment From Jeff Grosswho has a higher WAR from 2015-2020: Trout or Harper?
12:42 |
Eno Sarris: Maybe Harper. It’s possible that athleticism is covering up some of Trout’s issues, and if he declines a little bit there, we might see an earlier peak, while Harper is just now showing us what he’s got.
12:43 |
Comment From Johnso myers is pretty much done for the next two months huh
12:44 |
Eno Sarris: Been dealing with this since high school it looks like. Dunno if that means two months. Or are they doing surgery.
12:44 |
Comment From Jeff GrossWhat is the optimal grip for a spiegelau tulip glass?
12:44 |
Eno Sarris: The base has beer in it. Grip by the rim, keep your beer cold!
12:45 |
Comment From ParkerEno, Mike Fiers has a cFIP of 86, an xFIP of 3.35, and a Siera of 3.27, yet he has a fastball velo of about 89.7. How and why?
12:45 |
Eno Sarris: Really good non fastballs, and a lot of rise on his fastball.
12:45 |
Comment From MattI’m going to Vermont for work next week. Best work trip ever?
12:45 |
Eno Sarris: Yes. Unfortunately no pro ball there.
12:45 |
Comment From Won IWhat does that show you about Anderson’s change up?
12:45 |
Eno Sarris: Good for grounders. Gets whiffs too.
12:46 |
Comment From JobuWould you hold Osuna or drop him for Tolleson? Could drop Desclafani, but would like to drop him for Chase Anderson. 12 team roto dynasty. 5×5. Thanks.
12:46 |
Eno Sarris: If you dropping DeScla for Chase, I can do that. Cycle relievers. Get Tolleson, he’s closing now.
12:46 |
Comment From jonI’m having a bottle of Dinner this weekend. I don’t have a question.
12:47 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve got Beetlegeuze (blueberry sour from Mikkeller) and Tropic King (tropical saison from Funkwerks) in the fridge myself. Oh and that horchata beer from The Bruery.
12:47 |
Comment From Jeff GrossPliny the Younger is not today’s best TRIPA — that’s Notorious from Boneyard. Now go do your penance, Eno.
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Every time I say something like that, it has the invisible asterisk — “that I’ve had.” Because I haven’t had the Boneyard!
12:48 |
Comment From Johnny WeezFine, but Alpine Nelson is better than both!
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Yes, but get the bottles, they come from up the hill. I’m officially worried about the kegs from green flash.
12:48 |
Comment From BiggyI know the hype is high, but…….besides Trout, is Harper the best keeper commodity in the league? Or, still behind Goldie, Cutch, Cabrera, even Rizzo?
12:49 |
Eno Sarris: Ahead of the outfielders. Even with the first basemen, take your picks. Younger than most of them, so probably ahead of Miggie, if that’s possible.
12:49 |
Comment From Jeff Gross“Hanley being Manny”
12:49 |
Comment From juan pierres mustachebest part of the hanley fail throw is that mookie doesn’t even seem surprised and is ready to respond immediately. it probably happens all the time in practice
12:49 |
Comment From Fister? I barely knew her!Re: Hanley’s throw into the ground… Did anyone else noticed that he tried to throw it and then hilariously walked in the opposite direction of the ball? At least Mookie will try to clean up the mess…
12:50 |
Comment From The MaddnessRealistically, what can I get for an injured Lucroy? He was doing pretty lousy before the injury. Should I wait for him to come back? I’m rolling Caleb Joseph out there now but I am looking to pick up D’arnaud when he gets activated.

Comment From Reginald Denton IIILet’s face it, Jesse Hahn has been bad. Thoughts?
12:51 |
Eno Sarris: Great command, good ground ball rate, good WHIP, more changeups, I see things to like. I think he’s still a twelve-teamer at home, and I think he’ll get more Ks with the curve soon.
12:52 |
Comment From SnarfleI was having dreams to an NPR fundraiser, and in the dream my friend was like “come to the A’s game!” and I was like, “I dunno, I had to wake up really early for a public radio thing.”
12:52 |
Comment From Art VandelayI stopped into The Rare Barrel this weekend, the coffee brew (All Systems Go, I think?) was really unique. I was a little disappointed that Forces Unseen were the only bottles they were selling, that was easily the worst one we tried.
12:52 |
Eno Sarris: I love that place. Ensorcelled is magic.
12:52 |
Comment From Yes my parents named me after Brian EnoSo, my 7 year old daughter is being bullied at school by a boy. I’ve taught her to go for a shot to the bridge of his nose as last resort. Yesterday, same thing only she tells me “I think I can get a clean shot”….do I give her the green light?
12:53 |
Eno Sarris: No idea. I’m a pacificist, but that crap ain’t cool. I think you tell her to keep her eyes open and if he ever makes a move, be ready for groin or nose. It’s always less trouble if the other one makes the first move.
12:53 |
Comment From Trillium is the bestHow much regression do you see for Shelby Miller? I traded Hunter Pence for him (no room in my OF for him) in 10 team h2h cat. league.

12:58 |
Eno Sarris: El Segundo, Golden Road I guess? Couldn’t get into Father’s Office because I had my kids, and they also like ketchup (NO KETCHUP THERE), but Sunset Beer company was fun.

12:59 |
Comment From AnonIs there a source or website to see how players perform against different pitch speeds? For example, if one wanted to examine Harper’s stats against 95+ mph pitches.

12:59 |
Comment From JT SmoothIs there any reason for optimism regarding Wily Coyote Peralta besides dat velo?

Eno Sarris: Hard%, Oppo%, LD% all up big. So maybe he regresses to a .320 BABIP and a .260 BA. Still would be surprised if he hit 10 more homers. And where has the speed gone.

Comment From ashtrayArenado’s OPS at home is .300 lower than on the road. How?
1:05 |
Eno Sarris: Puts a lot of balls into play and Coors inflates BABiP more than anything! (Still love him)
1:05 |
Comment From SeabassDon’t do that to the possum, man. That’s just weird.

Comment From GuestAny gluten free beer suggestions?

Comment From jtEno! My pitching staff is lynn, wacha, salazar, tanaka, hutchinson, descalfani, shoemaker and smyly, is not doing well for me. should i make a splash or hold tight in a 14 team mixed league?
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve got a similar staff that I’m staring a hole into. I just don’t like putting a hole in the boat somewhere else to get pitching. Maybe just cut bait on Smyly and Hutchison for some high upside plays in pitching?
1:07 |
Comment From MSWHad my first proper sour over the weekend, from a local outfit here in Queens called Singlecut. I thought it was kinda like salt and vinegar chips. The first taste was weird but by the fourth or fifth I was basically addicted and drank them all night. Any other sours available in the NYC market I should look for?
1:09 |
Eno Sarris: You know, the Goose Island sisters (Juliette, Halia) are really good. If you ever see Cantillon or Drei Foneteinen, jump. I don’t know the NYC market so well, and I think a ton of sours are west coast. Oh right Allegash makes some good ones: http://www.beergraphs.com/l…

Comment From jocephusIt often makes you wonder

1:09 |
Comment From Yes my parents named me after Brian EnoYou know they’ll shut down Souza before he gets near the single season K record. Do you see him getting 20/20 before they shut him down? Do you think he can cut down his k rate?
1:10 |
Eno Sarris: I’m sure they don’t care about the single season K rate, and I do think he can cut it a bit. Just getting to know the league.
1:10 |
Comment From jvBrandon Belt has turned the corner.
1:10 |
Eno Sarris: I do like that he’s going oppo again. It’s frustrating to me how binary he is. He’s either a spray-hitting guy with good patience or he’s a slugger with a terrible K%.
1:11 |
Comment From BryceroniDoes trading Corey Dickerson on a cheap contract (1 year keeper) for an expensive Starling Marte make me better this year?
1:11 |
Eno Sarris: Only losing one year of Dickerson, huh? Might be worth it if you’re in the money.
1:12 |
Comment From PopSay something nice about Mike Napoli
1:13 |
Eno Sarris: Second-best K% of his career? Even with worst hard-hit of career, he’s above average there? Still playing?
1:13 |
Comment From LarryACan you make your BG podcasts downloadable?
1:13 |
Eno Sarris: They are on itunes, so they should be downloadable there?
1:14 |
Comment From MartyI have Grandal filling in for Gomes who comes back next week. is tyson ross a good target for one of them? think i can do better?
1:14 |
Eno Sarris: people don’t seem to want to trade for catchers, do they? I think Ross is an okay pickup.
1:15 |
Comment From marcBetter Keeper for next year only Kang or Russell?
1:16 |
Eno Sarris: I like Russell, but he’s so young and he may be a better points/real life guy. A week from now, this may look stupid, but I like Kang, and he’s in his peak. IF it’s just for a year, you can’t wait forever for Russell to hit his peak, which might be in four years.
1:16 |
Comment From JohnIs Mesoraco a lot cause for 2015? He’s on waivers and my catching options are limited…worth a scoop or is surgery imminent?
1:16 |
Eno Sarris: He’s going to squat or get off the potty this week, well he’s already squatting. If you think you have fast fingers, you can leave him on the wire.
1:17 |
Comment From AndrewWhat is wrong with my young player that hasn’t hit so far in a month and a half, Eno?!?!?!
1:17 |
Eno Sarris: He’s broken and you’re a fool.
1:17 |
Comment From Yes my parents named me after Brian EnoHas Timmy finally learned to “pitch” rather than throw? He looked great against LA last night.
1:17 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t think so. He’s aiming for the middle of the zone, and I think that will lead to homers soon. Also, he’s throwing junk in all counts, and I think a few teams would do well just to not swing against him.

Comment From Johnhow much faab on burgos, assuming he keeps the role? and does this mean Hudson at this point is completely useless in an NL only dynasty… I got him at $1, when it looked like he still had a shot to be in the rotation; then they talked about maybe he could be a closer. now hes just???
1:19 |
Eno Sarris: Hudson told me he’s trying to stretch out slowly this year, with an eye on the rotation next year. Burgos is worth your standard 11-16% just because any new closer is worth that, but his command can be terrible.
1:20 |
Comment From RickVogt has cooled considerably. What do you think he’s got left in the tank for this year? Another 10HR? .270 BA?
1:20 |
Eno Sarris: I think he can do that yes.
1:21 |
Comment From JoshSomeone in my 12 team roto dropped Cashner. Who out of this group would be the best guy to drop to grab him: Hughes, Syndergaard, Quintana, or Porcello?
1:21 |
Eno Sarris: Porcello’s transition to a conventional pitcher from a ground-ball one is complete, and he’s meh now.
1:21 |
Comment From carlIs randall Delgado ever going to get into the rotation?
1:22 |
Eno Sarris: Not this year, but has outside shot at closer if Burgos implodes and Reed doesn’t figure it out.
1:22 |
Comment From LarsIf / when you are in England, would you drink your beer warm Eno?
1:22 |
Eno Sarris: Lived there for a year. Lived on cold lagers and pilsners. Staropramen!
1:22 |
Comment From Johnre: myers – i just read it was the same injury that made him miss 70 games last year? so obviously, as one of my big acquisitions in my nl only roto league, i am concerned
1:23 |
Eno Sarris: He actually hurt his wrists in the past. This one is tendonitis brought on by bone spurs. So it’s a big ‘dunno.’
1:23 |
Comment From Johnny WeezI have the Stone Enjoy After 10/31/15. The bottle says you don’t necessarily have to wait. Should I?

Comment From Johnin my local beer bar, they have different beer clubs… you drink 50 different beers, you become a “port city low life” with a t-shirt, bumper sticker and occasionally low life only beers on tap. now i am going for the “cask crusader” where i have to drink 50 different casks. That takes considerably longer, but the t-shirt is sweet because it has a monty python knight on the back. Then again, 50 beers there is like $300 bucks, so it better be a sweet t-shirt

Comment From danny cwith regards to arbitration, would it be cheaper for a team to use 3 closers, each getting an equal amount of save chances or one set closer?
1:28 |
Eno Sarris: Each save is worth about $50k, some recent research showed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was unequal. if you share saves, none of the pitchers can claim to be the sole closer. Other idea is just to use the guy closes to FA.

1:32 |
Eno Sarris: They’ve cycled through almost all of their options. Might see him this year, but might only be in September. Hang on to Taylor for the next month or so.
1:33 |
Comment From Chicago MarkAsked Cameron without answer yesterday. Do you think the BBWAA have turned a page and are looking at more than just triple crown numbers for MVP? Or was it just Miggy down year/injured? If the latter, how much love does Cruz get this year?
1:33 |
Eno Sarris: Change comes slowly. Some look past triple-crown numbers, but it’s easier to do so if they’re not actually a triple crown attached to it. That’s a singular event that gets a lot of attention.
1:34 |
Comment From buctoberFinally going to my first pirate game of the year. Two questions, isnt PNC park perfect? and two how great of a pitching matchup is Cole v. Thor?
1:35 |
Eno Sarris: Perfect in every way except maybe beer and the press box (up top). But those might be things you don’t care about. That pitcing matchup will be fire. I’ll be watching.

Eno Sarris: Experience. How many of those types of pickups I’d like to make in a season. Time of year — I like making bigger acquisitions earlier, when you have more season ahead of you.
1:36 |
Comment From ShawnHow do you pronounce Gose (the beer, not the Tigers CF)?

Comment From AndrewBuchholz has a FIP of 2.88 and an xFIP of 2.96. Does he seem like the best fantasy asset in the Sawx rotation?
1:39 |
Eno Sarris: I just feel like we’ve seen this from him all the time. I know he’s worked on his changeup, and he’s throwing the fewest fastballs of his career, and his strikeout rate is up, but I just don’t trust him.

1:50 |
Comment From PopWho is Nola?

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Thoughts on Tomas? Am I crazy to like him more than Mous for the rest of the season?
