Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 5/22/14

11:45
Eno Sarris: I will be here soon!

11:45
Eno Sarris: In the meantime, hear something that blew my mind.

11:45
TheSoundtrackBeast:

11:46
Eno Sarris: This came out before Stairway to Heaven. Both bands played about ten shows together in the year before Stairway came out. Fast forward to about a minute in if you want to hear what I’m talking about.

Sup Eno.

Eno Sarris: Sup.

You didn’t know that about “Stairway”? Zeppelin is infamous for this sort of thing.

12:00
Eno Sarris: Yeah stuff started coming through about them once we listened to this this weekend at a wedding — my pops’ best friend’s daughter, so they were all nodding so hard they broke their necks.

12:00
Comment From matt
ventura for moss. who says no?

12:00
Comment From Brian
I can trade Yordano Ventura for Nolan Arenado in a keeper league. They have identical keeper values going forward. Good or bad move?

12:01
Eno Sarris: I can add to this Ventura for Ian Desmond asked elsewhere.

12:02
Eno Sarris: I like Ventura, but in keeper leagues, you have to think about his size a bit. Tim Lincecum, Scott Kazmir and the like. Even Pedro broke down a bit early. But! These guys were great when they were young. And are you really thinking about owning Ventura in five years?

12:03
Eno Sarris: So I say keep Ventura over Moss (platoon issues), Arenado (power?) and Desmond. Am I crazy?

12:03
Comment From John H.
With my boy Moose Tacos in the minors thinking of making an offer for Machado (dynasty league).

12:03
Eno Sarris: Sounds good.

12:03
Comment From Sonny
Eovaldi struggling lately. Still bullish on him for the season?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Nothing’s crazy out of wack but there’s the idea that a guy with a limited repetoire has a harder time the more often he sees teams to worry about. I might sell him high, but not dropping.

12:04
Comment From taylor
What are some prime buy-low OFs you can think of?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Heyward comes to mind. No problems with him.

12:04
Comment From David
Safe to start Cobb today fresh off the DL and vs. Oakland?

12:04
Eno Sarris: yes

12:04
Comment From Mariners fan
Hey Eno! Last Saturday, Paul Goldschmidt went 4/5 with 2 steaks and 6 rbis with 5 runs scored against the Dodgers. The starting pitcher for that game was Clayton Kershaw and Goldy had a career 4/23 line against Kershaw with 9 k’s. I only have one 1B spot on my roster and was thinking of sitting him but didn’t because he has been a top 10-fantasy producer this season. Needless to say that was a very smart decision. My question is how much value do you put towards career BVP (batter vs. pitcher) numbers in deciding your lineup? Thanks for answering!

12:05
Eno Sarris: None. Been shown to be useless, mostly!

12:05
Comment From American League Hustle
You were one of the first to announce your voyage on the Belisario train, so what do you think of him going forward now that he somewhat has the job? Could he manage to stay in the role all season?

12:05
Eno Sarris: Lindstrom out two months? I think he can keep it. Unless Nate Jones gets unbroken. UNBREAK YOUR HEART

12:05
Comment From Don
Just traded Justin Verlander and Melkey Cabrera for Adam Jones in a 20 team mixed league, thoughts?

12:05
Eno Sarris: Like

12:05
Comment From Al
My Melky & Balfour for Freddie Freeman? This is a no-brainer, right?

12:05
Eno Sarris: TRADE BALFOUR FOR WHATEVER

12:06
Comment From Jake
Between A+ and AA, in 2014 Peter O’Brien (NYY) has a 198 wRC+, .722 SLG, and 17 HR, 41 G. Hauling a 2.4 BB%, 23.6 K%. In 2013, he had a 7.5% BB%, 28% K rate through A, A+, 138 wRC+. Does he make it to the show in 2015? Do you like his odds on learning plate discipline, getting to be a 3-true-outcome type?

12:06
Eno Sarris: He’s still in the ‘bad’ buckets for both BB and K in both of those examples.

12:06
Comment From person hscer
Strasburg struck out 53 in his first 6 starts, 34 innings. 21 in 27.1 innings in 4 starts since then. So 74 strikeouts and 10.9 SO/9. Where do those last two numbers end up (I won’t check your math to read into your innings prediction…okay, I totally will, but I don’t mean to)

12:07
Eno Sarris: I love Stras for close to a 200 IP season, if not finally doing it, and 220+Ks.

12:07
Comment From Davelamb9000
Are you aware that last week’s chat was interlude free?

12:07
Eno Sarris: CAN’T BE.

12:07
Comment From Brad
You said in your farewell SS that you are devoting time to running website you so wanted to write for way back when. Is that FG RG or are you working for an additional site now?

12:07
Eno Sarris: That was FG. More time one interviews, more posts on RotoGraphs.

12:08
Comment From Matt
Do you think Machado and Bogaerts are both better real-life players than fantasy? Both come with high price tags in keeper leagues but don’t seem to produce as much as hoped.

12:08
Eno Sarris: Totally possible. Both good defenders with patience. I do think XB can 20/10 at some point, maybe even .280 with that.

12:09
Comment From Jake
Does Wandy Rodriguez bounce back?

12:09
Eno Sarris: No, deeeeeeep leaguer at best. I have him on bench in 20-teamer. Knee still hurts, all CB and meh FB.

12:09
Comment From Cleon
You seeing anything in Upton’s profile that makes you think he can maintain this production even with the ks?

12:09
Eno Sarris: History if you talking Justin.

12:09
Comment From Jake
Texas Rangers: Unquestioned worst offseason of 2013-2014?

12:10
Eno Sarris: They coulda probably fixed some of the holes they have now with better pickups, and the Fielder thing looks pretty bad now. But they still have a 23% chance of making the playoffs!!

12:10
Comment From Guest
I can see the resemblance in the Spirit tune but really I don’t see the big deal. Listen to Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick “Ladi-Dadi” and you’ll see Miley Cyrus and Biggie Smalls sampled and stole part of that song too and it came out in what, 1984? It happens.

12:11
Eno Sarris: It happens but I don’t like it. Give the drummer some.

12:11
Eno Sarris: Speaking of samples.

Playoff odds has NYY as a .500 team, 32% POFF. What moves do they need to make to get to 50%? Really, what moves could they make?

12:13
Eno Sarris: Buy the Shark but with what. Maybe spend less buy less and get something for the infield/rotation from someone like the Marlins?

12:13
Comment From DCC
Verlander may be struggling but will he turn it around? I’m way up in saves in my roto and have been offered him for my Perkins.

12:13
Eno Sarris: Well I’d take him for Perkins, but I think he’s not an ace ace this year.

12:13
Comment From pcm4
Do I need to hold Allen and Shaw? WTF is going on in Cleveland?

12:14
Eno Sarris: Pretty sure it’s Allen, Shaw keeps coming in before him.

12:14
Comment From Kris
I’ve been crushing it on the waiver wire re. closers (Rondon, Mejia, Doolittle, Belisario) and I’ve also got Aroldis. Would you deal Aroldis for some SP help (had Big Fern:( ) or just hold onto Aroldis until some of those get deposed? If not, what kind of SP would you be targeting?

12:14
Eno Sarris: Doolittle gets you a solid second closer, but the rest… if Mejia makes it looks solid there, and Doolittle holds, I think those two could be fine 1/2 closers on top of WW guys. But not yet.

12:15
Comment From benj
CJ Cron’s SwStr% does not line up with his K rate. Is he due for some strikeout regression, or does he just reign it in when he’s behind in counts?

12:15
Eno Sarris: Could be aggressive with decent hit tool. Has power. No plate discipline means there good be bad times for him. Don’t think he’s a mixed leaguer yet.

12:16
Comment From Graham
How do you feel about running out two of your pitchers in fantasy who are facing off in real life? I have Cobb and Gray today.

12:16
Eno Sarris: I’d probably run both out, but this is about the only case where I’d wait on Cobb.

12:16
Comment From hooha
My infield has been hurting since the injuries to Zimmerman and Trumbo and I’m not sure what to expect once they do return. Am i wrong to be worried about thumb and foot injuries lingering?

12:16
Eno Sarris: Wrist is the big one for power.

12:16
Comment From Malone
On May 1, you said Kluber was droppable in 10-teamers. He now is second in pitching WAR and has sub-3 FIP and xFIP. My question is: can you talk smack about some other guys on my team? Come on, Eno! And he gave you a nice interview too!

12:17
Eno Sarris: At least I held him in all my twelve teamers? Ten teamers are tough man. I don’t play in any and all I remember was that the waiver wire was full of guys I wanted.

12:17
Comment From PENO BUTTIS
HI I PENO BUTTIS.

12:17
Comment From Mark
Viciedo’s peripherals looked promising a few weeks ago (particularly fb% vs gb%), but he’s pretty much back to where he was last year. You at all optimistic based on the improved plate discipline?

12:17
Eno Sarris: Do think he coldl hit for a decent batting average and then hit homers v LHP.

12:18
Comment From beep beep
what are we supposed to make of collin mchugh at this point? I don’t believe for a second he’s this good, but is he an actual mlb pitcher now? Are the Astros wizards?

12:18
Eno Sarris: I was skeptical, but that start was another good one. Three good pitches even if no change. Did change his mix, turfed one of his fastballs. Not a 12-teamer but a deep leaguer for sure.

12:18
Comment From hooha
Which major league stadium you’ve been to has the best beer selection?

12:19
Eno Sarris: PetCo not even close. Haven’t been to Seattle, AT&T in San Francisco is second best.

12:19
Comment From Armando
Pedro Alvarez’s peripherals look great/much improved. IS the explosion coming?

12:19
Eno Sarris: I’m buying low. Improved contact, power still there, everything ready for explosion I think.

12:19
Comment From Billy Beane
Am I crazy for thinking that we’re currently watching Brandon Moss become one of the best power hitters in baseball?

12:20
Eno Sarris: He’s made a very important second adjustment after the K% went through the roof, and now he’s got patience, contact and power… It’s amazing. I still worry about vs LHP and the K% to some extent, but I was wrong about him.

12:20
Comment From Jb
Prognosis for Wandy. Worth keeping for $5 in an NL only 10 team league

12:20
Eno Sarris: No.

12:20
Comment From Matt
What would be your all-MLB “Under 25” dynasty league hitting lineup?

12:23
Eno Sarris: Did a quick query for this. Second base goes to Rendon over my boyfriend Betts. SS is Bogaerts over Simmons based on bat upside. First base looks like Rizzo. Stanton Puig Trout in OF. Third base… could only be Arenado. Few young catchers here, they take a while. I only see Sal Perez. DH is fun: Yelich, Myers, Billy Ham, Heyward? I’ll sneak Billy in just in case.

12:23
Comment From Dr. Zizmor

12:24
Comment From Biggus Dikus
Will Minnix be taking over for Collette?

12:24
Eno Sarris: Would you like that?

12:24
Comment From Christopher
Given his awful peripherals, would you try to deal Shelby Miller for another starting pitcher? I was thinking Ervin Santana might be a good target, until he got lit up last night. Thoughts?

12:25
Eno Sarris: I love Erv with the change-up. I like Miller more than most, but I think you’ll do better trading for a hitter or a closer or something — people don’t like when you offer them same position, struggling guy for their good guy.

12:25
Comment From Dr. Met
Is Eric “Soup” Campbell going to super utility his way into relevance? TC is not a great manager but the Mets have to start taking away CY and EY’s at bats don’t they? Grandy may have to stay in as he’s one of our only lefty power threats!

12:26
Eno Sarris: I think something may happen here. Zimmerman found the next Zobrists and Campbell was on there: bad age, good plate discipline, some power, some D. I think EC will be better than Duda in OF and could be deep league relevant. Picked him up in my 18- and 20-team leagues with huge benches today.

12:26
Comment From wes
Would you trade either Kluber or Cashner for Keuchel in 10-team?

12:26
Eno Sarris: Cash. Undetermined time off, not same K/9.

12:26
Comment From Guest
Are you a believer in Puig’s new more diciplined approach? BABIP still seems unsustainable and GB% is high but increased BB% and improved Swinging strike rate look promising.

12:27
Comment From Art Vandelay
I would say there’s basically no doubt that Taurus inspired the riff from Stairway, but I also would say it’s about 40 years too late to do anything about it.

12:27
Eno Sarris: There’s some sadness to the story with Randy California’s death, probably a slightly mitigating detail.

12:27
Comment From Tom
Eno! Love the name! Got a comp for me on Mookie Betts? #mancrush

12:28
Eno Sarris: Hate to do it to him, but Pedroia works: good plate discipline, surprising pop for little guy, some speed. Mookie might have more speed, a little more athletiicsim.

12:28
Comment From person hscer
By the way, if anyone wants to kill time between when they post their Q and it gets answered (SORRY, I’ll stop, seriously), they can take my quiz: http://www.sporcle.com/game…

Comment From moustakas
Will i ever be anything? am i droppable in dynasty leagues? did i poopie my pants?

12:28
Eno Sarris: .270/20 still possible. Bad plate discipline puts you in the bust bucket though.

12:29
Comment From Gonzo
Doolittle can keep this job right? Velocity, bit of a reverse platoon for lefties, strikeout rate and ONE walk on the season. Isn’t he a better Glen Perkins?

12:29
Eno Sarris: Better? Both great. Love Doolittle. Not worried.

12:29
Comment From Gricomet
Well the big question of the hour: Who replaces Moustakas? Does Danny Valencia get most of the playing time or is Paredes going to get a crack at the job?

12:29
Eno Sarris: Valencia IMO.

12:29
Comment From David
Crappy Closer Ranking …please rank these for saves ROS – Doolittle, Rondon, Rodney, Meija, Belisario, Qualls…because I have all six and they are taking up space. I’d like to drop one or two…but they are my only source of saves.

12:30
Eno Sarris: Not so crappy in Doolittle and Rodney. Mejia and Belisario are fine too. I think you can drop Rondon. Hasn’t look great, plus Cubs.

12:30
Comment From skipperxc
Is Terry Francona ever going to settle on a closer?

12:30
Eno Sarris: It looks like Allen right now, but it hasn’t worked out yet.

12:30
Comment From Francisco Lindor Truffles
LaTroy has defeated age, but can he defeat Brothers or Ottavio?

12:31
Eno Sarris: Worst strikeout rate by a closer since 1990 save one: Dan Kolb, by .01 K/9. Ottavino’s coming.

12:32
Comment From Doug
Trade away Cespedes and Taveras for Tanaka in a keep 15 forever dynasty league? In 2nd place right now.

12:32
Eno Sarris: I like Cespedes but the steals are gone for good and I think he’s basically a .285/25/5 guy. That plus a 50% bust rate prospect for a real-life ace? Sure.

12:32
Comment From Evan
Any thoughts on Atlanta’s second base spot? Fredi indicated Pastornicky is his man when healthy, Gwinnett acquired an infielder that led to more La Stella buzz..

12:33
Eno Sarris: TLS is coming at some point, but he’s not going to help a ton in HR/SB. More of an OBP guy. Pena/Pastornicky ZZZZZZZZzzzzz

12:33
Comment From John H.
Who is more legit rest of the season… Niese of Chavez?

12:33
Eno Sarris: Chavez. Don’t really see a plus pitch from Niese.

12:33
Comment From Flinchy McNipz
What are your thoughts on Danny Duffy? FA pickup in my dynasty league and I’m feeling nicem dicems.

12:33
Eno Sarris: No command. I’d sell high if I could.

12:34
Comment From person hscer
Have you ever gotten questions from both sides of a proposed fantasy trade? That could be funny.

12:34

Eno, one quibble with total BAR leaders index on Beergraphs – Stone is killing it, but (and this is no dis on them, top notch brewery) a lot of that is due to all of their Enjoy Bys stacking the deck (it would seem, anyway. Please correct me if I’m wrong!). Isn’t it fair to say it’s the same beer, just different batches? Also, when’s the Beergraphs app coming out?!

12:34
Eno Sarris: We should think about the first and we are doing more than thinking about the second.

12:34
Comment From Reddickulous

Victor Martinez has more HRs than SOs. Steamer and Zips have changed their minds on him, have you?

12:35

Comment From "KOO KOO" for buttsauce
Hey Eno, update on Chase Anderson? Trying to decide holding him in dynasty or picking up a guy like Phil Hughes

12:36
Eno Sarris: I might go with Hughes. I was down on Hughes, but 12.5% swsTR on the fastball is really good. Cutter is meh, Curve only good for grounders, but that’s a decent package.

12:36
Eno Sarris: Anderson might only be fastball/change for all we know. Like a DeGrom.

12:36
Comment From john
I just wanted to point out that Ike Davis is both walking 4% more often, striking out almost 10% less often, while posting a similar slugging and a 60pt advantage in OBP than lucas duda. Another mistake by Sandy.

12:37
Eno Sarris: Didn’t understand why they sold Ike without at least trying to give him more time.

12:37
Comment From Xander
Is this the beginning of the Xander Bogaerts fantasy breakout? Or the beginning of him being platooned and the bosox ruined his confidence?

12:37
Eno Sarris: I don’t know how they’ll do it, but I do believe that Xander and Drew are both better than Middlebrooks.

12:37
Eno Sarris: A little downturn, so here’s something from my past:

Trade me for I need TJ…

12:39
Eno Sarris: It’s a good point on all those trade offers. Could fall apart. But those hitters all had flaws too.

12:39
Comment From Polanco
What kind of impact does Polanco have when hes called up? His minor league stats compare favorably to Brauns minor league stats.

12:39
Eno Sarris: Doesn’t have same power upside, but his K and BB put him in about a 25% bust rate bucket, which is awesome. More likely than most to hit the ground running. With power and speed, on the 20/20 level.

12:39
Comment From RotoLando
Carlos Carrasco had 2 good innings yesterday. That’s something, right?

12:39
Eno Sarris: Not enough though.

12:39
Comment From Jim
Not giving up on Santana yet, but I feel like I need a handcuff at C in my 10-team BA league. Who do you like among Saltalamacchia, Avila, Mesoraco, Iannetta and Miguel Montero? Thanks Eno!

12:40
Eno Sarris: Miguel.

12:40
Comment From BRR
Would you still buy on Homer Bailey? Is Melky too much to offer?

12:40
Eno Sarris: Yes and no.

12:40
Comment From Allyson
Good day Eno. I think I have an unhealthy attachment to Zobrist and Shelby. I can drop them in a 7 teamer right? Probably find better peeps right? Thanks.

12:40
Comment From LarryA
Lance Lynn is so steady you can set your watch to him

Adam Eaton or Allen Craig for ROS in standard mixed league 5×5?

12:41
Eno Sarris: You know? Adam Eaton. Craig is a .280/18 guy for me now. Even if Eaton is only 10/15, that’s more value.

12:41
Comment From Schaf
Are you still going to be doing the Sleeper and Bust? I hope so, great program.

Yesterday, Derek Jeter batted 2nd. Against Jeff Samardzija. The RHP Jeff Samardzija. The RHP, 51.6 GB% in 2014 Jeff Samardzija. Jeter’s got a 56 wRC+ against RHP in 2014, when does he get moved down the lineup?

12:42
Eno Sarris: When he retires.

12:42
Comment From Curtis
any 2B prospects coming down the pike of note? seems a little dry….

12:42
Eno Sarris: Are you gonna make me say his name again?

12:42

Ploffe or McGehee ROS?

12:42
Eno Sarris: Plouffe a million times Plouffe. Good swing metric changes.

12:43
Comment From Dresch
Need a sleeper SP to pick up in my 14 team keepers league. I’ve been watching Syndergaard, is there anyone with more potential that’s about to be called up?

12:43
Eno Sarris: Thor has some of the best potential, but also a bit of a log jam. Alex Meyer should be up July 1, I love him.

12:43
Comment From Hrkac Circus
Had my first cha-cha bowl last weekend, it was definitely delicious, but it just didn’t feel like ballpark food.

12:44
Eno Sarris: I love their Crab sandwich, too and both are like that. I go there for work now, so I’m maybe a little different, but I’d rather eat whatever I want and not worry about what bucket it falls in.

12:44
Comment From Stephen
Have you ever laced a baseball glove? Doing one right now at work.

12:44
Eno Sarris: looooong time ago.

12:44
Comment From JV
Sean Doolittle a top 3 closer ROS? If not who are you taking over him?

12:45
Eno Sarris: Whoa hold on I love him but he’s not like totally in command. Jim Johnson still matters a bit, and Ryan Cook is right-handed and good. I had him at 19 or so this past week, would probably move him up to top 15 after good week, if all goes right, because of missed time, possibly a top 7-10 closer at end of season. But there’s risk.

12:45
Comment From Tim
Why are you down on Balfour?

12:46
Eno Sarris: Velocity down, pitching mix change, K-BB is negative, looks terrible.

12:46
Comment From Chappy
Yelich has been quietly productive this year. Does he have enough pop to get to 20/20? I’m thinking of trading away Choo with Christian to replace him.

12:46
Eno Sarris: Won’t get there this year, but 15/20 possible and that’s good enough to mimic Choo.

12:46
Comment From Guest
Would TB really go to Peralta as closer, if Balfour is removed? Seems like they’ve been really hesitant to give him the job. Oviedo a good sleeper there?

12:47
Eno Sarris: I’ll have to look at Oviedo, but they really want to keep McGee cheap it seems.

12:47
Comment From Greg
So you liked that someone traded Verlander and Cabrera for Adam Jones. Does that mean you think Adam Jones comes around?

12:47
Eno Sarris: .280/25/10 true talent still IMO.

12:47
Comment From Maxamuz
I’m gonna come out and say it, Heyward is not as good as promised. I want nothing to do with his lack of Duda talent.

Why hasnt radar guns to detect bat speed become a usefull tool for scouts (or has it). It seems that being able to quantify a players bat speed is as useful as a pitchers pitch speed.

If top pitching prospects have such high failure rates, should we try to trade away, Bradley, Stephenson, Grey, etc. Whats a realistic return for one of those to make it worth it to trade them?

12:55
Eno Sarris: I’d try to just shave 50% off a peak projection since that’s the bust rate. Even successful prospects don’t hit their peak projection. So maybe Gregory Polanco worth about a Melky Cabrera?

Currently have Gerrit Cole as one of my five keepers, I’m worried about the massive increase in HR/9 and HR/FB. Is it too early to scale back the expectations of him being a true #1 Starter?

Is there a worse pickup this offseason than Chris Young the Outfielder? All he does is take playing time from Lagares. The Mets would be better off with rookies in left and spend that $7.25m somewhere else.

In your last (literally unfortunately) Saves & Steals you liked Belisario over Qualls. The Astros have 50% more save chances so far this year, FG projected standings have the White Sox with only 1 more Win ROS and the FG projection systems seem to like Qualls a little better. Are you still saying Belisario > Qualls ROS?

Do you think it would be smart, or overly complicated, to add 2 more categories to BIP; specifically, hard grounders, and weak fly balls? I know classification gets a little tricky but it seems that a further breakdown would help understand bad luck/bad hitting. Also, it doesn’t make intuitive sense to me that a hitter doesn’t have control of his LD rate…but I’ve never played any sports so maybe I don’t have the best intuition.

Derek Norris question.

1:43
Eno Sarris: Derek Norris answer.

1:44
Eno Sarris: FERAL CATCHER. What I love is that he’s making contact and doing well against righties. I think he’ll take more and more PA as the year goes on.

What kind of average and home runs do you expect Arenado to hit for in his prime?

1:44
Eno Sarris: I doubt he’ll hit 30 more than once if that. But some great .300+ seasons in average for sure.

Comment From David
Tell me good things about Carlos Santana, Pedroia, and Wright. I spent good money on them and am getting bupkis 🙁

1:46
Eno Sarris: All that’s missing for Santana is power, so I’m not done done with him yet. Wright’s SBs were always a risk for going away, because SBs go away quickly, and his power was never no-doubt. Pedroia is hurt again, and there goes the power again. 1/3 I helped with at least?

Comment From Migs
My friend was drinking a left-hand milk stout nitro straight from the bottle. That seems wrong to me.

1:46
Eno Sarris: Hard pour or GTFO.

Mets fans bitch about the field dimensions. Since the walls were moved in, the field is almost exactly the same dimensions as Shea, in terms of the lines, the gaps and center field (albeit with some quirky lines to get there). The real reason there is no power on this squad is poor player evaluation, not the field. No other teams have problems hitting home runs here.

1:46
Eno Sarris: Their position player prospects are… not good. Nimmo might be okay, in a while.

Any data on frequency of TJS in the NPB?

1:48
Eno Sarris: Yeah in my piece on Sports on Earth. less than half as many TJs as us. They rest more, do different weight lifting, more massage and pre and post pitching warm up / cool down, but otherwise, they let their kids throw a lot and throw a lot of junk. Average FB in NPB is probabl 87 to our 91, though.

I refuse to believe that Santiago Casilla chose to swing the bat against Bochy’s wishes. Have you seen his previous at bats?

1:49
Eno Sarris: I was laughing until I was all like oh he’s really hurt I should stop laughing.

On Tuesday night EE was holding Papi on at first. Gibbons promptly got EE’s attention, pointed to his own gut, then moved EE off of first base. Baseball.

Starting Masterson against the O’s today?

I’m desperate! Getting different advice everywhere I go. 12 Team H2H Weekly Points League – Kershaw/Reyes or Tulo?

1:51
Eno Sarris: This is because advice for points is impossible. Also don’t know the rest of your staff. Given that Tulo injury risk has to about = Kershaw, I’ll take Kershaw side.

Comment From Capn America
Kenley also has 1.5 WHIP… Robertson’s .63 and an FIP a half run better than KJ. oh yeah did I mention DR’s K-BB rate is 33.3 while KJ’s is 26.9 ?

1:53
Eno Sarris: I would never look at WHIP for a ranking. Too many things go into that. Yes, DR’s K-BB is good so far, in 12 innings. He’s a great pitcher. He’s never struck out as many as Kenley, and I doubt Kenley has WHIP problems going forward. As I said, DRob would’ve moved up, and I think he or Chapman would have likely replaced Uehara, who’s throwing 87 and is tired.

I think you should double-down on Carrasco. He’s already your bannerman.

1:54
Eno Sarris: Hold on! http://www.fangraphs.com/fa…

I see Skaggs, Kluber, Gray, Tanaka, Keuchel and Estrada before I see any Carrasco on this list.

remember when the mets wouldnt trade their SP depth for any kind of bat or an actual major league capable short stop? Remember?

I picked up Dellin Betances. Through last week he has averaged this season per week (2.94 IP, 2.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 6Ks). Is this a good strategy for a RP picture to log some IP to help out standard pitching scoring and pick up some Ks?

Eno, Need Beer and Baseball Advice. Come to the conclusion most IPAs are just too bitter for my aging taste buds. Recommendations other beer types? What are your thoughts on Carlos Martinez, Stephenson, Skaggs, Stroman long term. Thanks.

1:59
Eno Sarris: Try Saisons, session IPAs, Dirty Pilsners, Browns. C-Mart a reliever for me now. Skaggs okay and great reclamation project but ceiling not super high. Stroman might be good for a few years a-la Kazmir. Need to know more about Stephenson.

Aoki largely an empty space with 0 hmrs and a few steals. Jump on the AJ Pollock bandwagon?

2:00
Eno Sarris: Aoki not taking off is important because he’s old. Never was big for power. I think he’s droppable, even if Pollock has a risk of losing time when Trumbo returns.

2:01
Comment From SK
Is Tyson Ross for real?? He’s got a reliever profile…

2:02
Eno Sarris: The change is a little better this year but the mechanics are awful. I think he can be good for short bursts but wouldn’t invest in a keeper league.

Clippard may not be eminent, but might he be imminent? (depending upon how much beer he’s drunk?)

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
