Eno Sarris: lyrics of the day are FRESH (at least for this old man)
Out of control but you’re playing a role Do you think you can go til the 18th hole Or will you flip-flop the day of the championship? Try to go it alone on your own for a bit
9:00 |
Comment From person hscerAm I in the right place? This is where we talk about baseball and other things, right?
9:00 |
Eno Sarris: Sure. Or whatever.
9:01 |
Comment From SteveWhat does a full season of Prime Anthony Rizzo look like?
9:01 |
Eno Sarris: I’d hate to get all gushy about him, but I think he could have more than one .290+/40+ season on his ledger.
9:01 |
Comment From Matt AdamsI destreoy the minors and have a huge start to the season yet I still don’t get much love. What’s my ceiling??
9:02 |
Eno Sarris: Maybe .280-.290 with 20-25 HRs? Maybe a little more power than Craig? Problem is, you’re a first baseman and a first baseman alone.
9:02 |
Comment From EricMy “stacked” rotation of Strasburg/Gio/Greinke/Morrow/Samardzija currently has one pitcher inside the top 50 on ESPN’s player rater. Any ideas on how to fix this disappointing bunch? Or do I just need more patience?
9:02 |
Eno Sarris: You should be fine. I don’t really believe in Morrow, but I like the rest. perhaps you could package Morrow with something else for an upgrade.
9:02 |
Comment From AJTAny cause for concern with Jay Bruce?
9:03 |
Eno Sarris: I believe in him. Tons of line drives, he’s just swinging too much. I think .250 with 25-30 hrs is still in the cards, and that’s about all you could expect anyway.
9:03 |
Comment From DjangoI have Neil Walker on the DL so I dropped Andrew Bailey to pick up Yuni (it hurt my soul to do it). Should I make the opposite move when Bailey is about to come back and just rely on Walker to come back healthy?
9:03 |
Eno Sarris: Yes I think so. Walker will be back soon and who wants Yuni anyway.
9:03 |
Comment From MilhouseDuda or Jay Bruce ROS in OBP league?
9:03 |
Comment From SteveIt’s dump trade week in my league, I need AL steals, would you give up 3 years of Capps or Rondon for Dyson? Same settings as tout with inflation, Capps 4, Rondon 7, Dyson 17.
9:03 |
Eno Sarris: Sure. They are relievers and they’re already getting expensive.
9:03 |
Comment From LudeBurgerJose Fernandez is awesome right?
9:04 |
Eno Sarris: Dude. I think so. But I just got a trade offer rejected where someone said “I see no difference between Jose Fernandez and Edinson Volquez.” BLEW MY MOTHER F’IN MIND.
9:04 |
Comment From UnchainedDrop Avila for Doumit in roto?
9:04 |
Eno Sarris: eh. Doumit’s losing that precious playing time to the young guys. I wouldn’t.
9:05 |
Comment From GoatHey Eno! Sure I’m not the only one to say that the new section of site rules, unfortunately it may mean I’m out of a job by June… On the day Brett Anderson comes off the DL, would you rather have him, or Milone for the RoS?
9:05 |
Eno Sarris: Anderson. Just believe in his stuff more. Milone’s fastball is down to 87!
9:05 |
Comment From Tacoby BellsburyI am presently trying to sell David Price for 90 cents on the dollar. Is that what I should be doing? Who are some worthwhile, high-K SP targets? Or am I panicking prematurely?
9:05 |
Eno Sarris: I’d hold on to price in redraft leagues. Even in keepers, I’d want a nice run out of him before I trade him.
9:05 |
Comment From Rubby of the RoseFirst time my boss has been in my office during your chat, Eno. Sadly, this means I’ll miss most of it when he takes us out to lunch and gets us drunk off of wine. 🙁
9:06 |
Eno Sarris: It was fun while we had you.
9:06 |
Comment From Bud SeligWhat would be my best course of action, if any re: the Angel Hernandez blown call?
9:06 |
Eno Sarris: Talk to Rubby.
9:06 |
Comment From Gila MonsterWhere do you put Matt Harvey’s value RoS? Top 10 SP? Top 15? In a QS league?
9:06 |
Eno Sarris: Definitely in the top 15, and higher in QS since the Mets do all they can to blow his wins. I think top ten. Hard to put him ahead of Felix htough.
9:06 |
Comment From UnchainedKindly rank these OF: S. Marte, Jennings, Gardner
9:07 |
Eno Sarris: You got it. Looks like Marte will manage a higher BABIP than Jennings.
9:07 |
Comment From SimonFreese or Middlebrooks?
9:07 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Freese. Middlebrooks’ 30% strikeout rate just scares the crap out of me.
9:07 |
Comment From TreyWhat are you planning to ask of Braves players today?
9:08 |
Eno Sarris: Need to do more research. But! I have one question planned at least. I’ll ask Andrelton Simmons how he got so *shudders* with the glove.
9:08 |
Eno Sarris: I mean, we don’t have to take interludes, if we just want to plow right on through.
9:08 |
Comment From GuestKyle Kendrick gonna remain this usable all season?
9:08 |
Comment From Tacoby BellsburyDrop Angel Hernandez?
9:08 |
Eno Sarris: On his noggin.
9:08 |
Comment From MaxamuzDiane Young. What do I win?
9:08 |
Eno Sarris: Your question answered.
9:09 |
Comment From TravisAndrelton Simmons = Ozzie Smith with a better bat.
9:09 |
Eno Sarris: He’s amazeballs I think is the term.

Comment From JEBBEEEEEEEEEER! Got two bottles of Founders Doom last week. Delicious to say the least.
9:09 |
Comment From jwise224Oh man, Eno, oh man…
9:09 |
Comment From jonEno – Is Freeman too much to give for Kimbrel? OPS counts, as does K/9 and IP. Would replace Freeman with Swisher
9:10 |
Eno Sarris: Actually I think Freeman doesn’t have much upside. He’s meh. Kimbrel is tops at his position and would goose your K/9.
9:10 |
Comment From person hscerAnd speaking of The Game pitchers: I believe in you RA Dickey (at TB for $5)! I believe in you!
9:10 |
Eno Sarris: Can’t wait for the Jays to come to SF/OAK.
9:10 |
Comment From UnchainedTop of the morning to you. Dan Espinosa droppable for Dee Gordon in OPS league?
9:11 |
Eno Sarris: Feel like Espinosa’s RoS OPS upside isn’t much better than 700 at this point. If Dee can walk 10%, then he might be able to manage .350/.350 and get there too, with way more steals. or he loses his every day job quickly. Point is, a .700 OPS can’t be that special if Dee Gordon can get there.
9:11 |
Comment From wesIs Glen Perkins a good enough RP to receive straight up for Cobb? K/9 counts
9:12 |
Eno Sarris: Trading for relievers is tough and I normally say just don’t bother. So this is about what the market does if not what market value should be.
9:12 |
Comment From tiburonIn a 10-team mixed keeper league ($300 budget, 30 roster slots), would it represent fair value to trade Tim Lincecum at $8 for B.J. Upton at $10?
9:12 |
Eno Sarris: Sure. I don’t hold out much hope for Timmeh any more.
9:12 |
Comment From JohnMarte and Buxton for Gio Gonzalez, dynasty league…. your thoughts, go!
9:13 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t actually love Buxton types myself. All tools, lots of questions, decent bust rate imo. Marte is already here though, and he’s a position player… maybe try to get a flier SP prospect thrown in.
9:13 |
Comment From FitzHave Jason Grilli, and obviously very satisfied with his performance thus far. Should I sell high on him? High lob%, low babip despite a high ld% and hasn’t given up a HR yet. Thanks.
9:13 |
Eno Sarris: No I like him. Kept his old man velocity gains somehow.
9:13 |
Comment From 3B WastelandLawrie or Moustakas? 6×6, OPS and AVG
9:13 |
Eno Sarris: Moose doesn’t walk much and Lawrie steals. I’ll take Lawrie.
9:13 |
Comment From palo altoIn a 10-team mixed keeper league ($300 budget, 30 roster slots), would it represent fair value to trade Hisashi Iwakuma at $1 for Josh Hamilton at $28?
9:14 |
Eno Sarris: That’s selling pretty low. $28 in that kind of league is — what — $25 or less in a $260. (MATHS) Even with a bad BA, Hamilton might recoup that value. Then again, I believe in Iwakuma to produce extra value on top of that $1… So it’s not bad.
9:15 |
Comment From PopCoghlan’s Law- Beer is for breakfast…drink or be gone.
9:15 |
Comment From MaxamuzDuddda doobie doooo
9:15 |
Comment From scbWhat are your favorite 2-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes?
9:15 |
Eno Sarris: Munch on THAT.
9:15 |
Comment From JonThoughts on Arcia? Is he a potential keeper in the OF?
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: A little worried about his plate discipline. Might only be a .260/.320 true talent guy with okay power.
9:16 |
Comment From person hscerAs a Nats fan I don’t know what was more depressing: the Espinosa-Gordon question, or your answer.
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: Sorry brociferous.
9:16 |
Comment From PopFreeman, no upside? You just spoiled my lunch.
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t see much more pop in there. I think he’ll keep doing this… which is great while he’s cheap.
9:16 |
Comment From DavidAfternoon Eno! So there’s no reason to carry Miguel Montero as a backup catcher in a 10xMixed is there?
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: Who’s your starter.
9:16 |
Comment From Hiya
My new liquor store: Can you get me a discount?
9:17 |
Eno Sarris: Presented without comment.
9:17 |
Eno Sarris: Oh I can’t resist. A wine lover is an ENOphile.
9:17 |
Comment From MarkOver/under .5 flushes when you wrote LITERALLY?
9:17 |
Comment From scbI am a Cubs fan who recently moved to Minneapolis. Target Field is very enjoyable. My question: who will make a World Series first, Cubs, Twins, or obviously neither?
9:17 |
Eno Sarris: Actually like what the Cubs are doing. Theo can run a team.
9:17 |
Comment From Rubby of the RoseKolten Wong is never coming up, is he?
9:18 |
Eno Sarris: The Cards just wait forever on prospects. I think it’s partly to use their peak seasons and then let them go, and partly because they are usually a good team.
9:18 |
Comment From Trout RiverWould you trade Pujols and Samardija for Tulo and Haren? Would leave me with LaRoche at 1B.
9:19 |
Eno Sarris: I actually think I might not. There are already a few missed games in Tulo’s year, and though he might be the best player in the deal when healthy, the jump from Haren to the shark is hefty.
9:19 |
Eno Sarris: Breaking news. Someone new that Angel Hernandez was a bad ump… in the minor leagues… in 1991… http://t.co/pSKPDt3ryv
9:19 |
Comment From JEBThinking about shipping out Gyorko for a 5th round pick and grabbing Didi off of waivers, good idea bad idea?
9:20 |
Eno Sarris: Is okay. Second sucks, but shortstop is usually the worst position. I like Gyorko’s bat a little more, but Didi has better home park.
9:20 |
Comment From GuestCompletely foolish to consider trading Harvey in a keeper? I assume I ask for a top-top hitter?
9:21 |
Eno Sarris: If you’re stacked in the rotation and need hitting, wouldn’t be crazy. But I couldn’t do it myself. too much of a homer.
9:21 |
Comment From AlexWhat can we expect from Machado as he reaches his prime? A-Rod light? He’s looked really impressive.
9:21 |
Eno Sarris: Weird thing was that he had all those low BABIPs in the minors. That’s why he was only projected for a .260 or so batting average. But he doesn’t do anything that would make him have a bad BABIP. Looks good to me.
9:21 |
Comment From CaseyHow ashamed should I be for being back on the Liriano train?
9:22 |
Eno Sarris: I have him… in my 18-teamer.
9:22 |
Comment From IraWhat are your thoughts on the large format beers like Brooklyn #1 that are all the rave right now? Too expensive? Impractical? I personally think they’re stupid because you have to finish them in one sitting unlike wine.
9:23 |
Eno Sarris: You mean like the 750s? the bombers? Here’s why I like them: I don’t want to buy a sixer of a beer I’m unsure about. If I do, and it sucks, what the crap do I do with the other five? With a bomber, I just suck it up and finish the one.
9:23 |
Comment From CJENO!!! Favorite chatter in all of sports, except I don’t drink beer :/. Anyways, was offered CC/Price for Adam Jones/Peavy. Would leave my OF with Trout/Cargo/Bruce and Howard as full time utility. 12 team non keeper h2h. Take it??
9:24 |
Eno Sarris: Glad to have all kinds. If Peavy stays in one piece I think you lose that trade… Well. Just because AJ will probably outstrip the two pitchers you get. But maybe not by much. You know what? If you need pitching, I think your outfield can take it. Maybe you can drop your worst pitcher for a platoon mate for Howard. (You’ll need one)
9:24 |
Eno Sarris: A K-BOMB for KIPNIS
9:24 |
Eno Sarris: (I still like Kipnis, think the elbow is healed now)
9:25 |
Comment From Doctor MetThis craft bar is across the street from my apt and it has a live updating beer menu.. any suggestions? When left hand milk was there I was there until they killed their stash. http://ues.theponybar.com/
9:25 |
Eno Sarris: Love Love Pony Bar. They have one in the UES now huh. Don’t have time now, but hit me up on twitter. The BeerGraphs account is all about recommendations. Especially for travelers.
9:25 |
Comment From dudeDue to roster implications, I dropped mcClouth. He was picked up, and now I feel as if I should be in regret mode. Should I be?
9:26 |
Eno Sarris: I think he can provide 2/3s of .280/15/20 production.
9:26 |
Comment From GuestWhat are the chances that Bell wins and keeps teh closer roll in ARI?
9:27 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t like it. I mean, he got some velo back, and his strikeout rate has been good, but I’ve liked Hernandez for so long, and we don’t yet know about how long Putz will be out…
9:27 |
Comment From GuestZach McAllister looking good…. does it last?
9:27 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t believe.
9:27 |
Comment From JEBThink Tazawa is a reasonable third closer in a 3RP league? I have Perez but I’m trying to unload him before those homers start staying fair…
9:28 |
Eno Sarris: If he keeps the job, he’s reasonable. But you know what, I’m always looking for a third closer, so I’d do that trade if possible.
9:28 |
Comment From JoeDynasty Keeper league. Was offered C. Archer and M. Barnes for Wil Myers. I’m rebuilding. Good deal?
9:28 |
Eno Sarris: NO, you build around hitting.
9:28 |
Comment From PopLagunitas Censored was called Kronic, based on the smell during brewing. Label was denied, as a joke they sent it back with a black censored label. It was accepted.
9:29 |
Comment From RJis Yonder’s power for real? 2 HR off LHP already makes me feel fuzzy inside…
9:29 |
Eno Sarris: Oppo power is fairly anti-platoon, so I’m getting happy about him too. Still don’t think he has top-five upside or anything, but top-twelve for sure now.
9:29 |
Comment From dudeWhat percentage of FAAB are you using on Bell? I have Hernandez, and therefore, can basically lock up Arizona saves. I guess some of this depends when putz comes back, but I would like your thoughts on the matter.
9:30 |
Eno Sarris: In your case I think you can push it over 10%.
9:30 |
Comment From CJ
My desk friend. Sorry, sent the pic of Tim with a duplicate question earlier, so I'll ask another. Salvador or VMart rest of year? Losing patience with Perez.
9:31 |
Eno Sarris: sorta can’t concentrate on your question. Sal or VMart? Similar actually, but I don’t like Perez’ new K%. I’ll take Vmart.
9:31 |
Comment From John StamosThank you for teaching me how to do the 2-for-1 trade! Traded Torii Hunter and Ryu for James Shields. I also learned how deep OF can be in a 3 OF league.
9:31 |
Eno Sarris: TEACH ME HOW TO TWOFORONE
9:31 |
Comment From MaxamuzEno, Eno, Eno. Do you collect Beer Taps? If so, I may be able to hook you up. On another note, I have Rollins and Asdrubal and was offered Melky for my Asdrubal. Do I make this move?
9:32 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t collect much of anything any more. Domiciles get crowded, man. would love some extra wide high-quality pics of taps though, for BeerGraphs. I don’t like Melky. I don’t mind trading an SS, but not for Melky.
9:32 |
Comment From IraYeah but the 750s go for the same price as a lot of good sixers.
9:33 |
Eno Sarris: hey if the sixer is good and I know it, sure. Just bought a Red Chair sixer for $7.99 and patted myself on the back.
9:33 |
Comment From dudeDear Eno, you are the best chatter in all of sports/fantasy, but you are ridiculously slow. Love, Everyone.
9:33 |
Eno Sarris: Really? Have gotten the opposite comment. If you mean that I don’t get to your questions quickly… boy you should see my queue.
9:33 |
Comment From Tacoby BellsburyHector Santiago … buy or sell in deep leagues?
9:34 |
Eno Sarris: I like him. Dunno if I’d buy, but I’d hold for sure. Lots of pitches, some velocity. HES GOT A SCREWBALL. Okay, buy.
9:34 |
Comment From BSRather have Bell, Gregg, or Tazawa for saves?
9:34 |
Eno Sarris: Bell I guess. I think Fuji will take Gregg’s job, and Bailey will close when he’s back.
9:34 |
Comment From JonIf David Hernandez doesn’t see some save opps soon with Putz out, is he still worth rostering?
9:34 |
Comment From AaronAny advice for constructing a lineup on Daily Fantasy sites like Draft Kings?
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: Find a cheap pitcher in a good situation first. Then do the rest of the lineup.
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: Also: we should be launching a daily fantasy column here shortly.
9:35 |
Comment From Matt AdamsBut won’t I be the Cardinals DH when the NL finally uses the DH? Could happen very soon, no?
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: Sure. Could give him a few PAs.
9:35 |
Comment From First Time PosterBuck or Ellis as my C2 until Grandal returns. M. Montero will right the ship soon, right?
9:36 |
Eno Sarris: Ellis in OBP, Buck in BA. I still like Montero.
9:36 |
Comment From JonWhat to do about Zimmerman and Lawrie? They (along with BJ Upton) are killing my average. I thought I was set at 3B/CI but it’s been a black hole.
9:36 |
Eno Sarris: Lawrie might hurt your BA all year.
9:36 |
Comment From HiyaJust looked up career BABIPs. Tom McCreery (of the Superbas) with a .390, Ty Cobb .378. That is silly.
9:36 |
Eno Sarris: BABIP was different in their time.
9:36 |
Comment From First Time PosterTommy Milone has a 43/6 K/BB ratio in 46 innings… should I be in love with him in a dynasty or is he still a back end guy?
9:36 |
Eno Sarris: Still think he’s a back end guy. 87 mph fastballs turn into homers. He’ll be a half-time pitcher for too much of his career.
9:37 |
Comment From Johnny RocketsIs it time to just move on from Ernesto, with long term value in mind?
9:37 |
Eno Sarris: Frieri? Still too many strikeouts to move on.

Comment From Kylewhat do you expect from Josh Donaldson for the rest of the season
9:38 |
Eno Sarris: .260-.280 with 20+ hr power?
9:38 |
Comment From VinceIs Starling Marte a hold, or would you trade him for a top 15 SP at this point?
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: The BABIP will return to earth. I think he’s a true talent .280 15/30 guy. That’s probably worth a bit less than a top 15 SP. (I tried to sell Marte and didn’t get even close to that in an offer — Dempster and Melky was the best I got)
9:39 |
Comment From SwingerHave you seen the new Victory Saison Swinger? Had it the past couple days, its refreashing. Can’t wait to drink it in the sun. If summer ever comes to NYC…
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: PRO TIP: Saisons for the summer. Both start with S!
9:39 |
Comment From EricHey Eno. Love the chat. Thoughts on getting props from the Fantasy Focus yesterday?
9:40 |
Eno Sarris: It was thorough and impressive. Very kind of them.
9:40 |
Comment From scbPretty sure it’s oenophile.

9:40 |
Eno Sarris: Eh, I choose to ignore the o.

9:40 |
Comment From MarkInterleague play is killing my Travis Hafner buzz. He should be hitting balls to Boulder but he can’t even play 1B.
9:40 |
Comment From dudeEno, you can’t avoid it forever. You are going to have to address the situations with putz and hanrahan. I recommend doing so right after you post this.
9:40 |
Comment From SwingerWhen should I stop being patient with Billy Butler?
9:41 |
Eno Sarris: Hey. at least another month.
9:41 |
Comment From Tony LWill Shelby Miller be shutdown early? Sell high now?
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: Jose Fernandez will be shut down early. Shelby I think can manage 170-175, and might be so excellent it’s just worth holding on to him and enjoying him.
9:42 |
Comment From JTHow did I do in my single-week of rebuilding in our dynasty? (Out, Halladay, A-Rod, McCann, Konerko In, Sale, Zimmermann, Cobb, Chris Carter)
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: You did well. Dangit, this is in our league isn’t it.
9:42 |
Comment From DougIn a Dynasty league would you be willing to give up Taveras and Ryu for E. Encarncion?
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: Ooh that seems hefty for a first baseman.
9:42 |
Comment From MetsoxWhat chance does Erasmo Ramirez have of being fantasy relevant in a deep qs league this year?
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: I’m still holding out some hope. He has to be next in line.
9:43 |
Comment From Harjitbut question, what is Mike Napoli’s real worth in a 10 team h2h? I’ve got Mauer and him (C, 2IF, 1B) and Fielder AND Berkman and on and on, so I figured trying to move one of the C is a good idea.
9:43 |
Eno Sarris: You gotta move Napoli now. I think he’s more of a risk than Mauer even. What’s his value? Right now, he’s a top four catcher with those home runs and the extra PAs at 1B. should be nice.
9:43 |
Comment From JoeyBelleWhy do you have so much gas during the FG meetings? Do your burnps get recorded into the minutes?

Eno Sarris: we’ve got a spy
9:44 |
Comment From DallasSell high on Beltran? Been a pleasant surprise but I’m worried about health and missing my window.

Comment From juan pierres mustachejeff sullivan is spilling your secrets

9:45 |
Comment From JTDave Cameron answered a question about your gas this week, too.

9:45 |
Eno Sarris: listen. I have gastro-intestinal issues. I’ve learned to put the mute on.
9:45 |
Comment From SevenSegura or Simmons?
9:45 |
Eno Sarris: IRL, Simmons. In fantasy, I think Segura’s SB speed will trump Simmons’ ‘decent’ power.
9:45 |
Comment From GuestWould you trade Bruce for Tavares in a forever dynasty where ks
9:46 |
Eno Sarris: where ks matter? If you aren’t in it this year, yes.
9:46 |
Comment From HiyaRobbie Erlin had a half a cup of coffee out of the bullpen, when he comes up next time, is he a starter?
9:46 |
Eno Sarris: I hope so. I like him.
9:46 |
Comment From Guestwhat’s up with niese? im tempted to drop him for kyle kendrick..
9:48 |
Eno Sarris: First, I don’t think any of his stuff is superlative. his curve is okay, his cutter is fine, his fastball goes 90. He’s never had an above-average swinging strike rate. But right now he’s not getting strike one, and that’s killing his walk rate. i think he’s a true talent 3.9-4.1 type pitcher, with below-average K%, good BB%, and strong GB%.
9:48 |
Comment From JackOh, by the way, Choo is hitting .398/.514/.739 vs RHP and .167/.327/.214 vs LHP. It’s early, SSS, etc… but wow.
9:48 |
Eno Sarris: And his defense is turrrrrrrible.
9:48 |
Comment From RamonDynasty: Harvey or Darvish?
9:48 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Harvey’s extra years. And Darvish throws a ton of sliders.
9:49 |
Comment From Concerned FanENO!! Today is my last day at this job. My next one won’t allow me to follow your chats every Thursday!!! What should I do?
9:49 |
Eno Sarris: Get a better smart phone and check in with us at lunch.
9:49 |
Comment From dudeSo rumor has it you burp a lot and Dave said you have some sort of stomach issue. Is beer your medication?
9:50 |
Eno Sarris: My friend who’s into health trends — the tai-chi / schiatzu rapper dj that made the intro song for the sleeper and the bust — says that ‘fermented foods’ are a must in a diet. So… SURE!
9:50 |
Comment From brain gamesYou’ve been a Hosmer fan right? Are you excited that he bats 4th? Probably not
9:51 |
Eno Sarris: I think Hoz can manage a decent batting average, with 20ish homers and a few stolen bases. As long as he doesn’t hit eighth, I don’t see that changing a ton. Might steal more in 4th than 2nd or 3rd.
9:51 |
Comment From DDSPWhen will the marlins trade Justin Ruggiano and will anyone want him?
9:51 |
Eno Sarris: Sure, but it might not be good for his fantasy value.
9:51 |
Comment From MattWho do you like most in a dynasty league: B. Anderson, J. Parker, or D. Straily?
9:52 |
Eno Sarris: Oh man great question. Anderson is often injured, Parker has shown flashes of being the best, love that changeup, and Straily has the worst fastball. I guess I’d take a shot on Anderson actually. Have talked to a few scouts that don’t love Straily.

9:52 |
Comment From JonWebster and Doubront were both horrible yesterday. Like either as keepers?
9:52 |
Eno Sarris: Webster is still nasty nasty. I like him. I think his control will get better.
9:52 |
Comment From DjangoEno, what’s with your love for the Red Chair? I’ve had it, thought it was okay but not like you do. Describe your feelings to me!
9:53 |
Eno Sarris: Eh. I think one thing I like about it is this ah-hah moment: I hate some of Deschute’s other beers, and Red Chair has something in common with them, but has a better mix of sweet and that taste, and so therefore I’m like – hey it CAN work!
9:53 |
Comment From Shelby MillerDo I need to expidite the development of my changeup or will I be able to make it through the season with just my FB and curve?
9:53 |
Eno Sarris: I hope that the second and third times he sees teams he starts breaking it out.
9:54 |
Comment From John StamosDogs are forever in the pushup position.
9:54 |
Eno Sarris: Must be exhausting.
9:54 |
Comment From Bill BobbyThoughts on Kenley’s chances of eventually overtaking League? If I’m planning for the playoffs, would you suggest picking him up over some lame duck closers (Frieri, maybe Henderson, Gregg). Thanks.
9:54 |
Eno Sarris: I still like them. I’d take him over Gregg. Not sure about the other two. Number one rule of prospecting for saves is : who’s closing now.
9:54 |
Comment From ChristopherWhat’s your feeling about growlers? They’re environmental, but they go flat fast. Only for parties?

Comment From DavidFollow-up for constructing a daily lineup: 1) Yes, start with affordable pitching. 2) Find affordable platoon bats with good match-ups. 3) Fill out the rest of your roster
9:56 |
Eno Sarris: yes like 2). Basically: scan for cheap players first. You’ll find some good ones in Colorado, or a lefty going against a bad righty, or a pitcher in Petco or whatever, and then you can spend money on the rest of your positions.
9:56 |
Comment From timmehPick 2? Hernandez, Bailey, Tazawa (Bell owned by someone else).

9:56 |
Comment From Joey BelleHas Derek Holland turned a corner? DO you like him more than Milone?
9:57 |
Eno Sarris: Well he certainly has the fastball. And if he’s got the command in the zone, then yes I like him. But I’ll have to take a better look at him for RG.

9:57 |
Eno Sarris: Actually I like Fausto.
9:57 |
Comment From ODawgI’m gathering that you live in NY…does this mean you don’t love west coast hop monsters?
9:58 |
Eno Sarris: Used to live in NYC until 2010. Now I’m in California. Love the hop monsters — Double Jack, Sculpin, West Coast, Lagunitas Sucks and Dogfish Head 75 minute are my favorites.
9:58 |

Eno Sarris: Mat Harvery is dreamy

Comment From SwingerWhat are some good saisons?
10:00 |
Eno Sarris: Saison Dupont is the easiest to find and great. They have a few that I like. Logsdon from Oregon is great, but harder to find. You can find some Brett beers (the yeast in a saison) like Mo Betta Bretta, but they can be expensive. KC has a one called… Tank 7. But try to get the Dupon.
10:00 |
Comment From dudeI mean to the questions quickly. But I suppose to is your queue. I probably couldn’t do better, but Dave has said how fast he is compared to all of you.
10:00 |
Comment From Larry“Dude”, what the Heck? Eno is the fastest by far on FG
10:01 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve taken to jumping ahead to the ‘now” in the queue to try and keep this going. But you should see how many I leave unanswered. I’m sorry for my shortcomings.
10:01 |
Comment From ArcherEno, you answer your questions in a VERY adequate amount of time. Where did you teach people how to trade two-for-one?
10:01 |
Eno Sarris: I’m just all about it I guess.
10:01 |
Comment From juan pierres mustachedave cameron’s computer is like that minority report one where he imagines things and they appear on the screen, it’s the only explanation for how fast he answers everything

10:02 |
Comment From WillieAm I wasting my time holding Oscar Taveras in a re-draft league?? Road to majors looks to be pretty congested…..
10:03 |
Eno Sarris: the Cards take forever with prospects. Starting to think that even if Beltran goes down, it’s Adams at first and Craig in the outfield. Has to be Taveras for Jay in CF, and the Cards don’t seem to do that sort of thing.
10:03 |
Comment From LarryI hate how owning 6 Yankees on my team actually makes me root for them
10:03 |
Eno Sarris: fantasy makes you feel dirty.

10:03 |
Comment From WillI was in VT over the weekend. Went to Alchemist to try Heady Topper. Good not great IMO. Much preferred Pliny the Elder. Thoughts-comments?

10:04 |
Comment From SadwickEno, I’m living in Knoxville TN right now, do you know any beers I should look for locally?
10:05 |
Eno Sarris: The Blackstone porters are okay. Look carefully at the Yazoo — their usual offerings are not great, but they have some specials. Not the best beer state..
10:05 |
Comment From DavidTrust EJax in a return to WAS this weekend?
10:06 |
Eno Sarris: So hard to trust him… in H2H I’d throw him. If i was on pace in roto, no. If I was behind IP pace, maybe.
10:06 |
Comment From MaxMatt Cain a top10 pitcher ROS?

10:06 |
Eno Sarris: He was #9 going into the season, I had him 11. So I say no.

10:07 |
Comment From JonnyBatsWhat the heck is that green abomination CJ keeps posting?
10:07 |
Eno Sarris: It’s very strange.
10:07 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheBallast Point recommendations? Just got some of their stuff in at my local bodega/corner store/place that pretends to be a corner store but is basically just for beer
10:07 |
Eno Sarris: Sculpin, Victory at Sea are the musts. They do a smoked lager that’s aight — very strange actually.
10:07 |
Comment From JoeyBelleHow can a pitcher work on improving their control? Is it actually possible?
10:08 |
Eno Sarris: Strike one. If you get strike one, you can then get batters to reach and turn balls into strikes by missing. Also, control does get a bit better with practice.
10:08 |

Eno Sarris: Asked and answered. plus a Duda.
10:09 |
Comment From person hscerSo do you have the queue open twice? once with recent first, and the other with older first that you scroll through?
10:10 |
Comment From dudeDaily waiver league. If I spent 66% of my FAAB already, should I be concerned with that? You can pick up players for no FAAB dollars if no one else bids however.
10:10 |
Eno Sarris: No, that’s okay. You want to spend more up front. You get more stats from then.
10:10 |
Comment From Visionary1What is Carlos Villanueva’s line at the end of the year? Is it as good as his mustache?
10:11 |
Eno Sarris: Couldn’t be. He’ll be okay, but won’t rise above #5 in mixed leagues.
10:11 |
Comment From AnonRe: gas – milk and or gluten allergy?
10:11 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t *think* so, but dairy late night screws me up. Greek yogurt every morning and acidophilis pills at night are really helping.
10:11 |
Comment From mr tis bj upton really this bad?
10:12 |
Eno Sarris: Too many IFFBs and Ks. I htink he can iron out the first a bit, but the second he’ll deal with this year. Career worst BA this year, but he’ll be ownable for a while.
10:12 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheCan someone ask Maxamuz why he loves Duda so much? It’s becoming a thing
10:12 |
Eno Sarris: As long as you don’t ask me the same question.
10:12 |
Comment From BasephamyHomer Bailey seems to have improved GB% K% and Velocity. 3.5 era guy now?
10:12 |
Eno Sarris: That’s the trifecta. I’d take the over, but not by much.
10:12 |
Comment From BasephamyAt what point does Ike become droppable in standard 12 tm roto?
10:13 |
Eno Sarris: The BA isn’t going to rise above .240 this year. But he could still hit 30.
10:13 |
Comment From BSDrop Ackley for Neil Walker now and take the zeros until Walker returns?
10:13 |
Eno Sarris: Walker is close but you might as well wait another day, no?
10:13 |
Comment From mr tis dan straily worth holding onto in mixed? he looks kinda weak
10:13 |
Eno Sarris: I think he’s a deep leaguer.
10:13 |
Comment From MikeMatt Moore seems to be looking a bit more.. uhh, Matt Moorish
10:14 |
Eno Sarris: He wans’t really showing improved control even when he was going well.
10:14 |
Comment From DavidAs chief FG fantasy guy, you’re going to push for depth charts to be added in a more exportable way, right? These are awesome, but no way I’m transcribing expected playing time one time at a time
10:14 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll see if that’s an option.
10:14 |
Comment From Tacoby BellsburyChris Tillman seems to have figured something out recently, looking like a middle of the rotation type. You likey?
10:14 |
Eno Sarris: Still think he’s a deep leaguer, but yeah he looks ownable.
10:14 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheGrantland article on Kershaw today–did you read it? Pretty phenomenal account of how he added pitches and worked on other aspects of his game, along with one part about how he tried a slider and it was immediately MLB-ready without any practice, which seems unfair.
10:14 |
Eno Sarris: Jonah’s piece was so so great. so is Kershaw.
10:15 |
Comment From MarkMark Reynods, he of the perpetual .225 BA, is hitting .280. Is he anywhere near this good or do I follow the gamblers fallacy and assume he doesn’t get another hit all year?
10:15 |
Eno Sarris: He should hit .225 the rest of the way.
10:15 |
Comment From MattShould I be trying to cash out on Alex Cobb while I still have the chance?
10:15 |
Eno Sarris: He’s good but not a #1/2 in mixed leagues imo.
10:15 |
Comment From mike myersshould i just drop konerko
10:16 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve seen this happening. I think he can hit .260 with 25- HR power, though, and that seems rosterable.
10:16 |
Comment From Too Many JoesThe wife wants me to make steak tacos tonight. I have a bottle of Double Jack in the fridge. It’s going to be a good night.
10:16 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll be at the park! So we’re both happy.
10:16 |
Eno Sarris: Got any Braves questions for me? Hoping for Schafer (plate discipline) and Simmons (defense).
10:16 |
Comment From JackOf two recent call-ups of interest, who would you prioritize in a redraft and keeper? Derek Dietrich or Burch Smith?
10:17 |
Eno Sarris: Neither is really sexy to me. But I’d rather take a shot on the MI.
10:17 |
Comment From StevePineda–looks promising. Velo is back.
10:17 |
Eno Sarris: I did see that! He still only has two pitches.

Comment From mike myersbrett lawrie is so good. how did he get this awesome
10:19 |
Eno Sarris: Well on defense, you’re right!
10:19 |
Comment From ODawgCameron said Tazawa may not be a great fit at closer because he’s an extreme FB guy. The stats don’t really back that up – a lot of noise from 2009 when he was an overmatched SP. My point is, I think Tazawa can close, and Bailey and Hanrahan are injury prone, so Tazawa is worth owning. Thoughts?
10:20 |
Eno Sarris: I love Tazawa and have not seen a link between FBs, HRs and the closing role. Jack Moore’s piece on velo and K% is the only one I’ve seen that shows a skill that’s predictive with closer changes. Everything else is just ‘role’ based.
10:20 |
Comment From DanIs Drew Smyly rosterable in a 10 team mixed league (with big rosters and not many appealing SP on the wire)? He picks up random wins and saves from pitching multiple innings, plus some nice bonus K’s?
10:21 |
Eno Sarris: eh. If your rosters are huge and you can stick him at SP and get a few wins and saves and good ratios, maybe. But I bet there’s a better actual SP sleeeper on your wire.

10:22 |
Eno Sarris: Duda did dat.

10:22 |
Comment From AnonGluten allergies can cause gas (does for me). Go gluten free for a week, just to see how your body reacts. Worst outcome is that you see no difference, and you wasted a week of effort.
10:22 |
Eno Sarris: No, the worst outcome is that I find I have a Gluten allergy.
10:23 |
Eno Sarris: I’d rather live on in ignorance.
10:23 |
Comment From Secret AdmirerOF consists of Holliday, Gomez and J Upton. I have Grandy coming back. Who’s the odd man out?

Comment From ArcherDo you think the Moose is finally starting to turn it around?

10:25 |
Comment From JTFG+’s preseason blurb stresses that cheap power is power nonetheless, but am I right to value Chris Carter highly in 12 team mixed league dynasties?

Comment From HiyaI still don’t see the crazy BABIP regression for Marte. Austin Jackson has sustained a .350 BABIP for years now. Sure Marte isn’t going to hit at .400, but he has a legit chance to lead the majors in BABIP at .350-.375. Could regression be overrated?
10:33 |
Eno Sarris: I didn’t bump him all the way down to .300 in my head.

Comment From MattRe: beer in bombers – when a bomber is just as expensive as a six pack (which sadly, is often the case), does it really make a difference? If you’re left with 5/6 of a sixer, at least you can try to share it with someone else who might enjoy it.

Eno Sarris: I’m not completely alone in this house as a beer drinker, but I don’t like it, my wife and bro in law probably won’t drink it either.

Comment From dudeA reason to change your mind on Milone, Eno. He doesn’t walk a lot of guys. And even if he gives up homers, he doesn’t walk many guys at all. He has been dealing with low velo his entire career. He can adjust a lot better than the hard throwers who lose velo.
10:35 |
Eno Sarris: It’s true, but check out the community blog post on velocity. Essentially it says that 89-93 mph is about the same for the fastball… and then there’s a huge spike around 87. So basically if your fastball is mid-80s and your change is 80ish … not enough difference. I get what you’re saying, and when he’s in Oakland, he’ll have that good PU%, the good EDGE% and be better than he ‘should’ be.

10:35 |
Eno Sarris: It does a bit. I burp, fart some.
10:36 |
Eno Sarris: But my problems are overstated. I have some reflux. Just have to watch what I eat. No raw garlic or onions, red sauce and cheese late are bad too.

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
If you had Harper in a dynasty league, would you trade him? I get 3-for-1 offers like Granderson, Weaver, Todd Frazier for him, but I’m not biting. Thoughts?
