I dropped Kluber after his bad April. Thought I’d bought into unwarranted hype, and in a H2H points league, you can’t wait too long to make moves or you’ll get buried. At least, that’s what I tell myself to stop the tears.

Eno Sarris: Perhaps his public comment changed the tone of what was being offered? Plus, he’s leaving a pitchers park, and though you can adjust for park, teams probably eye his swing and miss stuff and velocity (or lack there of) and wonder if he can keep being average.

My point on Lester’s release point was that 2014 is more like 2009-2010. Late 2011-2013 was quite different and his curve generated 29% Whiff/Swing. His 2014 generates 40% Whiffs/Swing, along the lines of the 37% of 2009-2010. It is just interesting. Pitching is one of those things where correlation is very difficult to prove causation.

And he had no problems with Richard’s 97, so he likes fastballs. But that means more Ks, even if it means more power. As a righty that’s played against LHP in past, though, his floor is very low.

Pederson is in Triple-A… you could say he could work on his strikeout rate… It’s not for sure that he’ll start, I’d say. And I’ll take Oscar, but Oscar’s K% suggest a better batting average is coming than Joc will put up, and you can’t bank on Joc hitting a ton of homers and stealing bases right off the bat.

It seems that this class of rookie pitchers doesn’t have of the ones we saw dominate last year (e.g. Wacha, Gray, Jose Fernandez, Salazar). Where do you think Stroman ranks relative to those above pitchers?
