Fire Kevin Cash: Another Alex Cobb start last night with great results even if the changeup isn’t there. What are your thoughts on him right now?

Eno Sarris: I guess speed is part of the brilliance on the pitch, but he’s missing SIX inches of drop. I wouldn’t trust him for this year.

Jeet: In a 1 catcher OBP league who would you prefer for your team in the playoffs – Contreras or Sal Perez

Eno Sarris: Contreras.

Ralph: 12 team H2H with OBP/SLG can keep 4 with 2 round penalties. Already keeping Springer for a 9th, Lindor for 19th, and Wil Myers for a 21st. I’m between David Dahl for a 14th (He was a FA pickup) or Todd Frazier for a 8th for my 4th keeper. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: Dahl and the extra rounds.

The Dark Knight: What really are the chances of Matt Harvey returning at 100% next season? Have we seen the last of him as an effective pitcher? No precedent of pitchers returning from TOS right?

Eno Sarris: Josh Beckett had another year or two after it, Jaime Garcia is still pitching, Chris Carpenter did pretty well.

Mr. Glass: Strasburg and Stanton are on the permanent “do-not-draft-because-of-M*A*S*H” list right?

Eno Sarris: Every player has a price. If they drop into the fifth and sixth rounds, you probably still get great value with them plus replacement level.

Keith Hernandez: Heard Buster Olney make a player comp for Gary Sanchez the other day on Sportscenter… Defensively – Pudge Rodriguez. Offensively – Manny Ramirez. On a scale of 1-10, how ridiculous is that statement? (This is why I can’t watch sportscenter anymore)

Eno Sarris: I think the Pudge part is worse.

Eno’s Conscience: Thoughts on Soler next season? Still having dynasty value?

Eno Sarris: What’s funny is that he actually is going to do what I thought he would do this year, in about half a season. It’s still crowded in Chicago, but he has full-season true-talent .265/25 type talent.

Birdland: How hot is Kevin Gausman going to be next spring? Top 10 AL Only SP and $20+ in Tout/LABR, etc?

Eno Sarris: Not sure I’m totally into him at those prices. Never thrown 200 innings, curve still isn’t great but it’s better than any breaker he’s had. To me, he’s a number two.

Wily Dames: To your knowledge, has anyone done research on the effect of how long a pitcher sits between innings and their performance in the next inning?

Eno Sarris: Haven’t seen this!

Joe Orsulak: Why does nobody want the Twins head of baseball ops job? Is it a salary issue? Or is it a control issue, with ownership too hands-on? Both?

Eno Sarris: I’d guess the owners are meddlers.

JD15: Fantasy/Rules question: I was playing Terrance Gore the other night (Tuesday I think) and Gore stole a base and caused a balk on a play in the 9th inning. The balk was enforced though by “allowing” Gore take 2nd (which he had already stolen) and Dyson take home since he was on 3rd while this was happening. Why does Gore get penalized for this? No chance there is a scoring change, right?

Eno Sarris: I love what fantasy does to a baseball fan, I really do. No idea if they’ll change it though.

Eno Sarris: No fantasy teams this year, may watch a few quarters of 49ers, go to a few Stanford games, but it feels like I’m doing it because I have to or because my wife will let me sit for an hour if it’s in front of something like that.

The Decadent Moose: Mazara is pretty much league-average by every metric going. Is he still the brightest RF prospect?

Eno Sarris: I see growth coming in patience, power and contact. Next year, I wouldn’t project him for this, but I could see him hitting .285+ with 25+ homers and great R/RBI.

Mike: Does the seventh inning stretch count as a baseball lude?

Eno Sarris: yes.

Zonk: After wading into the Kaepernick thing, when he really didn’t have to, that has to be the final straw on LaRussa’s tenure, don’t you think?

Eno Sarris: Passan ripped him a new one.

Seth: seems like a lot of articles on FG about speed being the new fantasy scarcity with the ‘juiced ball’…how does this move the needle on 1D players like C Carter and K/Chris Davis, or conversely guys like Peraza and Mallex Smith?

Eno Sarris: Wouldn’t be surprised if the retroactive numbers prefer the 1 category speedsters over the power guys. I think Chris Carter’s ISO actually went down relative to the league!

Billy Heywood: I’m getting married in Negril, but don’t want to do the all-inclusive resort to avoid making guests pay the resort fees. Any experience/ideas of places to look into that would be on the beach and can host 100 guests?

Eno Sarris: That size.. I think Negril Beach Club? I used to hang at smaller places like Alfred’s and Silver Sand but it’s all one beach. If you identify a spot that can house the wedding party, book all those rooms, and then help people find stuff along the beach. It’s seriously like 15 minutes walk to great hotels, some super small, some bigger and more first world, your guests won’t have trouble.

Zonk: David Ross is on pace to have the 2nd best season of his career by WAR at age 39. He is 7th among all NL catchers in WAR (1.8), despite not playing full-time…just behind Yadier Molina. Who saw that coming?

Eno Sarris: Grandpa Rossy!

Miketron: There seems to be a Singlecut shortage where I am. Any other widely available New England style IPAs to try in the meantime?

Eno Sarris: Not many are widely available. Tree House, Trillium don’t distribute much. Maybe you’ll see more Trillium now that they are canning.

Eno Sarris: Grimm and Other Half and Threes make some too.

Ronnie: In a hypothetical Puig/Braun swap how much value would LA have to add to make a deal?

Eno Sarris: I mean I love this rumor and I’d really think about it if I were the Brewers. Puig would paint that town red. I don’t know about BMac, I think the Dodgers would have to add a young starting pitcher, like a De Leon before he was De Leon now. Brewers would do it to get younger, cheaper, and get the arm.

Pablo: What is Raisel’s role in 2017?

Eno Sarris: One last try at starting, I’d guess. Because otherwise why would you pitch him two innings at a time.

Erik Guy: Hi Eno, before the bball chat, I have a brewery recommendation. Not sure how often you get out to the DC area, but next time you do, check out my buddy’s craft brewery, he makes some unbelievable stuff. Denizen’s Brewing Co, in Silver Springs, legit!!!

Zwibi: Would love to just get your general overall opinion of Strasburg. Think he would be healthy enough to be a keeper going into next year?

Eno Sarris: He’s so good I’ll go to the trough if he’s anything cheaper than an ace. But if you’re keeping three/four and he’s your only pitcher keeper… yeah that would make me nervous. With the forearm again.

tommylasagna: what team that will miss the playoffs this year do you think will have the best turnaround next year?

Eno Sarris: Yankees and Astros in the AL, Pirates and … Pirates in the NL. In each case, a little bit of pitching, found, grown, or bought will make a difference.

Roberto Clemente: As someone who has watched Adam Frazier at all levels, I’m personally not surprised to see him hitting this way. With the obvious caveat being it’s not a huge sample size; do you think he can be anything more than just a utility guy? Keep in mind, this is a Cistulli guy we’re talking about!

Eno Sarris: Little worried this power is over his head, and if that goes, he’s a one-tooler in the outfield, which sounds like a utility guy.

Eno Sarris: (it’s a really good hit tool though)

Walt Schmaltz: Does either Morgan or Asher stand out as a possible back-end starter for next year’s Phils?

Eno Sarris: Definitely not the first. Probably not on the second.

ShakeYourTushieHasegawa: What’s your best guess on FA contracts for these unexciting players: Nova, Hellickson, Prado, Jay, Fister, A. Blanco

Eno Sarris: The pitchers might do pretty well. Jaime Garcia might be the best free agent pitcher. The hitters will get one, two-year small deals.

Bob: As a Pirates fan, how worried should I be that Josh Bell won’t ever be able to play even replacement level defense at first?

Eno Sarris: The hitting looks good enough that he’ll find his place.

Elton: Optimistic for Vince Velasquez next year?

Eno Sarris: For all the bellyaching he might get to 140 innings this year, and by K-BB those were pretty awesome innings. I’ll buy again next year, particularly at SP3/4 prices.

gelezinas vilkas: Eno: end of fake teams season for me, so I’m already thinking about keepers for next year. In a 16 team pts. league (low deductions for Ks at .3) do you like Jose Ramirez or Keon Broxton as my last OF after Trumbo and Blackmon? Keep 12.

Eno Sarris: Rather Ramirezes flexibility than Broxton’s risk.

Zonk: Matt Kemp and Jason Heyward have nearly the same WAR, of course by entirely different ways. Who would you rather have on your team?

Eno Sarris: Heyward. Younger, more ready to turn it around. If it was just *right now* I guess Kemp might help more, you can always find a defensive replacement OF.

i hate my manager: if Rob Zastryzny and Marc Rzepczynski were on the same team, would the world explode?

Eno Sarris: Autocorrect would correct itself into a black hole.

Erik: Has there been a season to season drop off by a young superstar in recent memory which is as large as the gap between ’15 Bryce Harper and ’16 Bryce Harper? Does this ever happen without injury?

Eno Sarris: But there was injury! I suspect that most of these dropoffs like this are injury related, reported or no.

Kristen: AL Manager and Exec of the year? Has to be Banister and JD for putting together the best record in the AL despite not having Darvish, Lucroy and Beltran for the entire first half of the season.

Eno Sarris: I actually have a vote for AL MoY and I’m going to try and put together some metrics to guide my vote.

ShakeYourTushieHasegawa: I read somewhere that we shouldn’t ignore this spike in power going into next season. What say you? League wide hard hit% is over 31% for the first time since 2007

Eno Sarris: Exit velo is up, HR/FB is up, and it’s stayed up. If they don’t change the ball again, this is the new reality.

Zonk: I wouldn’t take Contreras over Perez……Montero and Ross are getting alot more playing time lately. Montero’s back is much improved, apparently.

Eno Sarris: PT is a problem. On per-PA work, I would go with Contreras though.

CJC: Is Ryon Healy good? Will he remain at 3B for the A’s?

Eno Sarris: Yes and yes. I like him as a .280/20 guy.

Luke: How do I explain Ivan Nova to my children?

Eno Sarris: Have curve, will travel.

Jappy: Considering a big trade in a deep keeper league–Would you move a $13 Donaldson for a $22 Harper? I’m pretty on the fence

Eno Sarris: If Donaldson were a year older or the more expensive one maybe.

Reginald Denton III: Hey Eno! So my team is ridiculously stacked with pitching…I have Kershaw, Max, Sale, JoFer, and Thor, and I’m going to lose in my fantasy playoffs, because…well, H2H. 🙁

Eno Sarris: … yeah.

Erik: Sounds like both the Braves and Phillies will be at least minor buyers this off-season. While neither will be major playoff contenders, could they improve enough to make the NL east the toughest division in baseball?

Eno Sarris: Phillies were the rabbit this year, so I almost named them as the other NL team. A pitcher could really change it up over there, particularly if Nola and VV are healthy next year.

Merv Throneberry: There’s something about Devenski…his K/IP is solid, BB/9 is stellar and he can roll for multiple innings. Think there’s any way the ‘Stros consider starting him next year?

Eno Sarris: I do, and his changeup is really good. One of the biggest velo gaps among starters. If I hear that is happening in the spring, I’m jumping.

Eno Sarris: I nailed three or four and was super wrong on the rest.

Q-Ball: Between 1926 and 1928, Babe Ruth accumulated 35.6 WAR, leading the AL every year. During that stretch, he also accumulated not one MVP vote. Not a question, just….what?

Eno Sarris: Seems, uh, Troutesque.

Kristen: What is it about barrel-aged stouts that make them seem thinner than non-BA ones?

Eno Sarris: The alcohol? Usually stronger.

hhh: What do you think the A’s do about their hole in CF? I can’t imagine they roll with Smolinski/Eibner/Brugman very long. You see them making a play for, like, Inciarte?

Eno Sarris: That’s a rumor, but I wouldn’t try to imagine what the A’s will do. A platoon in CF sounds very much like them.

AD: Fun fact: Only 3 players since 2000 have hit as many HR as Galvis with a lower RC+

Eno Sarris: Hah. There’s a few like that this year. Odor’s only 11% better than the league with 31 homers! Adam Jones has 27 homers and a 102 wRC+.

Bo: Do you have any good advice for succeeding in head-to-head playoffs? I finished 1st in the regular season but I’m now looking likely to bomb out in the first round of the playoffs through a combination of injuries to key players and bad luck, and my only solace is that this league pays the regular season champ a decent amount. Is there any way to fight back against the randomness of playoffs?

Eno Sarris: Quantity on the pitching side, so perhaps a drop of a hitter for a pitcher in the playoffs. A quick hook with anyone on the fringes that isn’t a keeper. That’s about all I have for you.

Matt: True or False: Billy Butler is, in fact, more valuable than a ham sandwich.

Eno Sarris: Well, can I put some bacon and sriracha honey mustard on there? Maybe on a brioche bun with some melted brie ?

Guest: If the Jays continue to collapse and miss the playoffs, will Gibson be gone and will the organization start a rebuild?

Eno Sarris: People seem to like Gibbie but I don’t really get it.

Zwibi: What is the floor for Peraza next year? Do you think he will get enough PT to anchor the SB category on a 5×5 ottoneu team. Thinking about dropping Dee and using Peraza as my keeper instead.

Eno Sarris: I wouldn’t do that.

Watty: Is there any rule that prohibits tattoos on pitcher’s arms? I always wonder why a pitcher wouldn’t get tattoos of baseballs up and down his pitching forearm to add deception.

Eno Sarris: I know they’ve made people wear long sleeves before…

Eno Sarris: Oh just have two toddler boys and getting an hour on the weekend to not follow them around and keep them from killing each other is something I’d take if it was given to me.

Jeff: Some days I go on Youtube and watch Pedro Martinez pitching highlights. Has there ever been a filthier pitcher than 1997-200 Pedro? That changeup was breathtaking!

Eno Sarris: I once took a look at if every pitch he threw was a top-five pitch in the league. It was actually much closer than I thought.

Pablo: Is there difference in beer from a can vs. beer from a bottle?

Eno Sarris: Can more likely to be fresh and unaffected by light, should be fresher.

Roadhog: What would an A’s/Reddick reunion look like this offseason? 3/42?

Eno Sarris: I get this feeling that they can’t offer more than 3/36. I’ve never heard a larger number. That’s what they supposedly offered him before.

Eno Sarris: Fatigued I guess. Weird.

Eno Sarris: An underrated thing about moving up in the minors is that the seasons get longer. I saw Bryce Harper play alongside Mike Trout in the AFL the year before they debuted in MLB and they both were dragging ass, Trout more than Harper though. He went in hard at second in the All-Star game with that eye black dripping, made everyone mad.

Table: Why is an expensive old slugger with bad defense worth more than just Puig in the first place?

Eno Sarris: Everything comes down to how you value Puig. They don’t seem to value him that highly, having put him on waivers and the like.

Eno Sarris: I, myself, like Puig and would trade for him.

Q-Ball: Reds pitchers are only 7 HRs short of surrendering 241, the all-time team record. At -0.6 WAR, they are withing striking distance of being the first team ever to pitch at below replacement level all year. I hate to pile on but…wow.

Eno Sarris: One of my BOLD, BOLD okay BOLD, predictions was that they’d produce three top 50 pitchers. lol. I like Straily as a back end guy, Desclafani as a two, and if Iglesias isn’t so brittle, he could be a 1/2. It looks bad, but part of it was injury. The other part was Finnegan (better recenlty) and Lamb (woof) not working out.

ShakeYourTushieHasegawa: Cotton’s K rate will improve over time, yes?

Eno Sarris: For sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not elite, though. I found that changeups relate to K% less than other pitchers, so he might get some weak contact from that filthy, filthy thing.

SDinSEA: Does Schimpf settle in as a 2-3 WAR player?

Eno Sarris: 1.5-2.5. He’ll be a guy for a while, but not sure you want him starting when you’re going good.

SDinSEA: Travis Jankowski, an every day 1st-2nd division regular?

Eno Sarris: I like him a little better because of the defense.

jon: $100m for Chapman this winter?

Eno Sarris: Oh man. $100m for a reliever. I know that money is worth less over time, but that would create a real uneasy feeling in my tummy.

Flaka: Opinion on Ariel Miranda? Useful streamer?

Eno Sarris: I’ve been using him at home and on the road against weaker teams. Interesting that Seattle is playing more average this year though.

Bork: That’s like Brett Cecil’s agent this off-season. LEFTY CAN PITCH.

SDinSEA: As we now have such a high number of high 90s to 100s pitchers relative to the past, do you think we’ll see the top end of velocity limits increase or are we currently maxing out the limits of our anatomy?

Eno Sarris: Casey Weathers threw 108 at Driveline. He was sorta running when he threw, but 108.

Guest: A’s secretly competitive next year? Hope Gray was a fluke/injury and watch some of the young guys develop? Can see a run at 85 wins without squinting

Eno Sarris: They’re getting closer. Healy/Semien/Lowrie are a Wendle/Pinder breakout from being a decent infield. Davis/Vogt capable. Graveman a fine 3/4, Cotton and Manaea have frontline and huge breakout potential. Add a healthy Gray and another bullpen addition (they seem to buy one every year), and that at least looks like .500 to me.

asdfrrs: Which of the Dodger players will the Giants sign: Turner, Hill, Jansen?

Eno Sarris: Oh man they’ll want Jansen so bad.

Eno Sarris: That’s about right. I’ve been in some roto leagues with second half awards to combat that.

Mike: Do you think that the braves new park next year will play more hitter or pitcher friendly than turner field?

Eno Sarris: The biggest determinants of park factor are temperature and altitude, I believe, so about the same. Unless the walls are nutso.

Steve: Can a pitcher’s reputation have an impact on his performance? in any measurable way? I thinking maybe hitters changing their approaches in a way more favorable to him.

Eno Sarris: Umpires do give people calls. And if you’re known for command and throw a dickshot like Kershaw does sometimes, I think people just don’t expect it and miss it sometimes because of it.
