Deep pts. league. Need to keep one more, either Morneau or Plouffe. Projections for Plouffe seem to me low: before he injured his thumb on 7/20, he was not only mashing HRs but hitting for a very high average.
Given that Target Field seems to be a lot more HR-friendly to RH hitters than LH hitters–and that Plouffe is younger–wouldn’t he be a wiser choice? (I don’t need either a 1B or 3B–thinking more of trade value down the line.)

Morneau “might” give you more value in trade, if you can find a trade partner that likes “name value” as well as statlines. But, thats about it for Morneau. Me, I am inclined to go with Plouffe. Sure, he was never projected to do what he did early last yr. but, he wouldnt be the first to exceed expectations.

A lot of people have been saying that Gio was a one hit wonder last year and his performance was PED fueled in light of recent findings. Now it may be true it may not be, but can you bring up something to show that gio was an all star pitcher in 2010 and 201.

I haven a question about my team . I’m in a 18 team keeper league with smart owners. I traded Trumbo for Hunter, Kubel, Aybar, Bauer and infante. I am going into an auction with the sixth most money and an offense that needs one more player because I filled 4 spots on offense with The Trumbo trade. Did I screw up?

Okay.. Trumbo is on the way up (careerwise).. The rest are plateauing or on the way down, save for Bauer (who, according to rumors, was traded due to unwillingness to adjust to coaches advice as much as anything).

That and you tied up two to four spots instead of one. (depending on how you play hunter, kubel, aybar and infante).

On the upside, you have depth, which is useful over the course of 162 games and the injuries that come with it.

I like the Trumbo deal, especially in an 18 team league. Trumbo hit .227 the second half of last season and his K rate skyrocketed. This deal is great for you, especially with a mix of older guys, guys in their primes and Bauer. You were able to fill a bunch of spots with that deal and now have money for a superstar or two in the auction. Or a bunch of depth/upside plays, depending on which way you want to go.

Plus Trumbo is going to be a DH-only this season, so he’ll lose eligibility down the line…
