FanGraphs App in the NY Times
The FanGraphs App was featured today in the New York Times where they call it a “nifty iPhone app”.
FanGraphs ($3) is a nifty iPhone app that crunches almost every conceivable baseball-related statistic, including a team’s probability of winning a game as it proceeds.
In other FanGraphs iPhone app news, it was featured as one of the iTunes Baseball App Essentials.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.

Why aren’t all of the stats from the site in the app?
Because the screen resolution and size of an iPhone is at the very most a fifth of your computer monitor.
The iPhone app is designed as a quick way to look up some of the most useful stats by player or by game on a tiny screen, not as a replacement for the website.
Andriod plz.
I love the app. I just wish i could read articles on it. I’d pay another three bucks to do so.

Android version plz, I already read the articles from the links on your twitter account, I would pay to have easy access to the stats
Agreed, time for a Droid version of the app, please! I just got a new smart phone for fantasy baseball more than anything else, but it will all seem for naught if I can’t get the Fangraphs App! Anything we readers can do to help facilitate this? I will lead a sit-in outside Motorola headquarters if we need to…

lol agreed @noseeum. But it’s more because I’m so out of touch with (certain) technology, I don’t even know what an adroid is… I keep picturing a Star Wars guy but I guess it’s a new type of phone?
I know of iPhone apps though. Cool idea and I’d definitely try it if I had an iPod cell or touch.
well, there will soon be more Android handsets in the world than there will be iPhone apps. Android is a multicarrier(as in every carrier has an android phone) and is quietly becoming the preferred OS of choice.
While we’re all making requests, I figure this is the least blatant place to put something like this without having to use the forums or looking like an idiot for requesting such a dumb breakdown..

After I saw the Nats dropped him, I was looking at his career stats- particularly his k/9 rate and how it seems to dip and gain at random over the course of his career. I figure a lot of this could just be chalked up to situational use and how he was used on each squad, but the differences in some years are odd. I’d make an uneducated guess that maybe his 2000-2004 years would be good go by, based on how he was altered from the pen to rotation back and forth between that period and it may show some insight as to his odd numbers.
Just something I noticed and always wondered. Obviously he’s basically a LOOGY at this point in his career, but his career is just an odd one to me.
Seriously, if anyone would do a quick run-down, it’s something I’m curious about. Don’t even know where else to post such a request, but since everyone is calling for droids…
