Shouldn’t this have been a “FanGraphs Aaudio” episode instead?
On second thought, based on the content of the past few weeks of the podcast, it might be more responsible to split it in two: Dave Cameron’s appearances can retain the current title, but the rest get lumped into a new podcast called “Shooting the Shit with Carson Cistulli.” I still enjoy it quite a bit because Carson makes very interesting observations and asks offbeat questions, but at this point, I don’t think there’s much point in pretending that there will be baseball content.
Seconded, also why not move them to NotGraphs?

On the comedian/TV show of record bit: even in the era of limitless choices for media consumption, I think people still want to watch what everyone else is watching. “Everyone” else is an overstatement, but at least what your like-minded peers watch. Gives us water cooler conversations and all that.
The other factor is the winner-take-all nature of entertainment consumption – at least from my perspective. I’ve got two kids and a busy job. I’m acutely aware that my opportunities to explore new shows, music, etc. are finite. I’m not going to give something a fair shot unless it has the imprimatur of friends or critics whose opinion I trust. When there’s enough critical mass, like The Wire or Louis CK, I’ll check it out. And with rare exceptions like The Shins, I’m satisfied.
Carson – a sincere thanks for your podcasts. I enjoyed this one in particular.
