Just FYI, hockey goalies are generally the thinnest hockey players. The pads make them look bulky but most of the good ones are thin/wiry/quick.

someday the billy beane of hockey will finally employ the ‘mobidly obese guy who covers the whole goal’ strategy, and America will take it’s rightful place ahead of the canucks and russians

When I was growing up the fat kid was always the goalie in the winter and the catcher in the summer. He even used a lot of same pads. But we were a long way from being on track to playing anything more competitive than the other hayseed Alberta towns in our county.
