What a waste of my time. To say the content of this podcast is “largely on the the White Sox” is quite misleading. I would say the content was largely a bunch of pointless waffle on the use of the word “suck” and other similarly worthless topics.
Unfortunately this seems to be a recurring theme for the Carson/Kiley podcasts.
You tell em, Stan. Your time is way too valuable for this kind of free content lacking the utmost seriousness.
I would happily pay for a high quality podcast from Kiley/Carson analyzing White Sox prospects. The fact that this content is free is irrelevant as it was still a waste of my time. I assume both Kiley and Carson are paid for their services, and as consumers we can expect a certain level of standard and quality (especially now that we’re being bombarded with ads), which these podcasts have been completely lacking.
To be honest I don’t care about the pointlessness of the above podcast, I just wish it had been labelled as such.
I think you’re entitled to you opinion on the quality of the content of this podcast, and I can actually see your point of view. My problem with your comment has more to do with its rudeness towards the producers of this free content. The fact that it is free might not be relevant to your judgement of its quality, but it should be relevant to how you you present your criticism. My standards of evaluation for a play might be the same when judging the free “Shakespeare in the Park” play and a Broadway production, but the the fact that one slice of content given away for free is absolutely relevant to my reaction and supplied feedback. (One good reason why this is the case is that I might be made at more of a personal loss by a production that wastes my time AND my money).
There is a certain etiquette I think we should practice when giving feedback on these free podcasts (and fangraph posts in general) that I think your commented violated.
What I’m saying is that your articulation of how your expectations as a consumer were not met did meet what should be our collective expectation of human decency. Again, your displeasure with the content might not be misplaced, but your rudeness was, given the fact that this is free content.
Wish it had been labeled as such? Have you listened to any of the previous podcasts? This was a pretty standard Kiley/Carson product. If you don’t enjoy that fine (though plenty of us do) but it’s not as if this was some great deviation from what is usually an all business affair.
The funny thing is I would love both. One silly podcast a week and one on topic!

You’re totally right! And given that the White Sox minors players are at best 2 of the top 100 players that is about 8% too much on the White Sox. And 2% is a…strrretch! Stretch! STRETCH!
Considering the name of the podcast episode is “Kiley McDaniel Largely on the White Sox” maybe they should have, you know, spent more than 5 minutes actually talking about the White Sox. Also, not that it should matter, but Keith Law has stated the White Sox have “four likely top-100 prospects, including right-hander Francellis Montas” so it’s not like their system is so void of talent they couldn’t have gone in-depth at least a little bit.
I still enjoyed the podcast episode, but I can see why White Sox fans would be disappointed with its content, considering the name of the episode.
With that logic, 25% of the top 100 list is “uncertainty over the context of the word, ‘suck'”
Oh and um. HE GONE! Hawk Harrelson joke! Funny? No?
