If Seattle signs Prince it will put the M’s in a tough spot in that 4 guys will eat about 70 million in 2012. But looking long term, Ichiro has an expiring contract, why not sign Prince and balance the payroll distribution in 2013?

Dave said this in a question about White Sox starters Gavin Floyd and John Danks:
“Danks is perceived to be better, but Floyd is under team control for the extra year.”
Technically, I suppose that’s true since the White Sox have an option on Floyd for 2013. Both have equivalent service time and will have at least 6 years of service time at the end of the 2012 season, but since Floyd is a under a multi-year deal with an option for 2013 that could conceivably be picked up(it’s reasonable), he does have the extra year.
That could be offset, however, by the perception that Danks has more talent(and some think he does) and could fetch more in a trade.
Just my 2 cents. 😉

what is ZiPS projecting for Lawrie in 2012? I didn’t think the 2012 Jay’s projections had been listed yet….
