Just for the record, I don’t think the Braves are concerned with Freeman at all and Goldstein said this yesterday….

“Atlanta isn’t even pretending Freeman has competition for this job. He’s not in the class of Jason Heyward, but he might be close.”

As for Prado playing 1B, I think he was just listed as a possibility. He’ll be in LF until Chipper goes down, then he’ll slide over to 3B. Hinske and/or Mather will likely backup 1B.

Freeman is 21-years-old and they seem to be pretty confident in handing the 1B job over to him. They may not be scared, but as a Braves fan….I may be. But he’s not being counted on to contribute much with the bat next year, his defense will desperately be needed in an infield that features Brian McCann, Chipper Jones, and Dan Uggla though. If he can put up an OPS of .750 and play solid defense(I’ve got no doubt about his defense), I’ll be a happy man.
