And thanks for FG for hosting them and bringing them to a larger audience.

I know this isn’t necessarily the right place for my comment- but has Fangraphs done any analysis on which fans put out the best year-to-year player projections? I’d be interesting in something like that.

this should be taken down, its completely useless and a matter of opinion. Theres no hard scouting done for this at all, for shame fangraphs for endorsing this mockery.

I’ve seen people say this before, and it’s absolutely ridiculous, the problem people have with defensive stats are that the hit location is subjective, Peter Jensen did a study and found that at most the hit location was off by 10 feet, usually 4 feet. Then totally biased fans just rate players, so the one criticism of UZR is much worse in FSR. How could it be better. Please explain your opinion. I like FSR, it’s another cool stat we get to have, and I like how it’s broken down so we can see a player’s defensive components, but I don’t take it seriously when thinking about value. xeifrank please explain your opinion.

I have used both in my simulations. Use of FSR instead of UZR does better against the Vegas lines for me. I have played around with various calibrations/regressing techniques for UZR but it doesn’t quite measure up. Sure, neither is perfect… but given the choice…
