Title: Coordinator – Scouting Operations

Summary
Assist the Domestic Scouting Department with operational tasks as directed. Work with resources across the department, the organization and outside to ensure the smooth operations of the Domestic Scouting Department, with special focus on the Rule 4 draft and Pro Acquisition contexts. Work closely with the R&D and Systems teams to ensure that all data needs are met for Domestic Scouting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with VP, Domestic Scouting to set and implement strategic direction for data usage in the Domestic Scouting department.
  • Lead player flagging efforts across Pro and Amateur spaces.
  • Oversee intelligent assignment of coverage for Pro and Amateur in coordination with Special Assistants to Scouting.
  • Manage and facilitate multiple data inputs to the Domestic Scouting process. These include statistical inputs, pitch tracking data, collected data, and others.
  • Ensure data inputs meet quality standards. Oversee data mapping processes to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Manage relationships between Domestic Scouting, R&D, and Systems teams. Work with them to define needs, set priorities, and drive specifications.
  • Supervision of part-time video collectors.
  • Ensure completeness of video and data coverage for Pro and Amateur players.
  • Perform in-person and video scouting as directed by VP, Domestic Scouting.
  • Meet ad-hoc data pull requirements to support the Domestic Scouting process.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge and expertise with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Ability to easily move data and information from one application to the other and to format for best usage
  • Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with scouts and front office staff, players, their families, coaches, and administrators
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in stressful situations required
  • Ability to process large amounts of information and consolidate into presentable and usable forms is required
  • Strategic thinking and planning regarding processes and improvements
  • High level of organization and logistical skills and experience
  • Growth mindset and openness to new process and tasks is required
  • SQL knowledge a must
  • Modeling language or software knowledge (R, Python, etc.) highly desirable

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
