Passan: White Sox/Dodgers Nearing a Big Trade
Well, this is interesting.

The obvious guess here is that the Dodgers are shipping an outfielder to Chicago, and with a significant prospect like Montas going to LA, it would seem more likely to involve Yasiel Puig than a salary dump like Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford. Of course, David Robertson could also be a fit for the Dodgers, who already tried to trade for Aroldis Chapman, and the Dodgers are seemingly always looking to take on bad contracts to acquire prospects, so perhaps they could be taking Adam LaRoche off the White Sox hands in order to buy some more minor league inventory.

Looks like a 3-team deal with Frazier going to Chicago. Presumably Montas goes to LA for position players prospects [since the Reds didn’t want any of the White Sox pitching prospects] who go to Cincy.

White Sox fans are split: those who think Trayce Thompson is the next coming of Aaron Rowand don’t like it; those who understand Trayce is the same age as Jason Hayward think it’s a nice step.
Looks like the Dodgers just served as a clearing house for this CHW/CIN deal.
LAD swaps Peraza, Dixon, Schleber to CHW
CHW sends Montas, Thompson, Johnson to LAD
2nd deal:
CIN receives Peraza, Dixon, Schleber
CHW receives two years of Todd Frazier
I do not understand why the Reds would do that.
