At least the Phillies were consistent…

The Phillies had a season high 0.5% chance of reaching the playoffs on April 11. It was all down hill from there.

This graph should be Exhibit 1 on why Matt Williams should be fired. I know he is not 100% to blame, but a team that talented, should not free fall like that right when becoming healthy.

This is cool.

The win percentage graph is off – as you mouse over, it provides a percentage (i.e. .4% or .5%) instead of the actual winning percentage for each team.

The AL West graph is rather entertaining.

Dig it! But am I the only one who wants to be able to isolate one (or maybe two) TEAM(s) and plot 3 or 4 of the different graphs on one graph?

Apparently the Mets won like eight games on June 28th and then lost turned around and lost like seven on June 29:

6/27 20.4%
6/28 44.5%
6/29 26.5%

Close, on June 28 they swept a double header against the Reds on a day where the Cubs, Pirates, and Nationals all lost (technically the Nats split a double header). None of those teams played on June 29, though, so I can’t begin to explain why the odds reset so quickly. Occam’s Razor says it is a glitch in the matrix.

The phillies playoff odds just farted at the beginning of the season and died.
