Steamer Split Projections: Visualization Tool
The team behind the Steamer projections has put together a tool to better visualize the steamer split projections. Just click on the image or various links and start slicing and dicing.
“In the visualization, you will find a new output of the Steamer Projection system: Rest of season split projections. This visualization is customizable: you may select different stats to display on the graphs, and choose to only display certain teams and positions. It was designed to be a stand-alone tool, and it can even be embedded directly on your website or posted on social media. We plan to update it weekly so that our ROS projection stay up to date.”

So this is for position players only? I assume, then, that the left/right/overall columns indicate how these players do against pitchers who are dominant with each respective arm, correct? Apologies if that’s a dumb question; I just want to be sure.

Cool addition. Easy to visualize replacement level and how much of a difference the team’s are getting from each position.
You’re projecting Boston for .3219 wOBA vs. L, .3248 wOBA vs. R, and .3252 wOBA overall. I don’t understand how that’s possible.
Indeed, that makes no sense. I think our issue here is that these are averages rather than weighted averages which makes that possible, something we should get fixed.

The visualisation looks cool but it’s pretty difficult to glean detailed data quickly.
