Oops, forgot the reasosn. Rasmus had a better WAR last year despite a UZR of -10, which is not indicative of his true talent level on defense. Rasmus off to great start, McCutchen just okay. Rasmus left-handed. Rasmus still has star upside, McCutchen seemingly has reached his upside of above-average regular. So no, McCutchen is not on his way to being the best center fielder in the league.
