I’ve often heard Alex Rodriguez is the king of meaningless home runs. Is there any statistic that takes “Clutchness” into account? For pitching or hitting? Something along the lines of a stat where individual at bats are weighted based on their potential affect on the outcome of a game (i.e., taking the lead, or effectively putting a game away)?

Well for quite a while Alex Rodriguez was just the king of Home Run’s in general. So it stands to reason he’d have a lot of meaningless home runs, along with the shitton of others he’d always hit. I believe he actually had really high WPA scores.
I don’t know how to prove it but there must be many reasons to believe slow/fast starts aren’t just random. I’m sure many hitters do worse in cold weather. Has there been any studies done on say hispanic hitters in cold/warm weather climates? Additionally, there has to be something (negative or positive) for playing at home. Home bed comfort, cooking, family, etc must have some impact. Also, what about comfort in hitting backgrounds and pitcher mounds. Something to be asked in the next chat I guess.

I know the Astros are one of the worst teams in history, but a lot of times fans look to people like you with their questions hoping to get a serious answer. All you do is crack jokes.. and its not just the Astros. If you are going to act like an expert (which is probably not what you are considering you dont understand the basic principles of knuckleball pitchers in closed roof atmospheres), then you should treat fan questions with more respect. Crack your joke, but at least follow it with something constructive or informative. Just because a team is terrible, doesn’t mean there arent any takeaways or positive things about players.
