Leaderboard Upgrades!
The leaderboards and team pages now have a bunch of new features!
– There’s a new Dashboard tab which mimics the stats shown the player dashboard area.
– wRC+, tERA, FSR, and TZL (Total Zone w/ Location Data) have been added.
– The Fans Scouting Report has been given its own section.
– WAR data for both batters and pitchers can now be filtered on a monthly basis. This is done by pro-rating UZR and Positional adjustments based on playing time.
– You can now go back as far as 1871 in both the leaderboards and team sections.
Here are some additional notes:
– All positional filtering is done on a qualified player basis. If a player played in 25% or more of his games at a particular position than he’s qualified.
– Reliever/Starter filtering pre-1974 right now will filter only on pure starters/relievers and any dual-role pitchers will be left out. This will be fixed in a future update.

Dashboard on the leaderboard. Ahhh thanks! Love it.

Great new features. Will keep me slacking even more.
But any chance we can get the quick glossary for those pages too?
Loving that tERA has been added. Seeing it next to xFIP on a sortable list is next to godliness.
Is there any way to search the leaders for a given time period? Say 1980 to the present or 1940-1970?
Baseball-Reference’s Play Index will do this for you. You can use it for free (but generally just get results for players 6-25), you need to pay if you want full results. It’s a pretty amazing tool.
Any way you guys can switch your sorting feature so it defaults to highest-to-lowest? Everything sorts lowest-to-highest, which is really only good for a few pitching stats. Most of the time we look at highest-to-lowest. As it is, you have to click the sorting feature twice in order to see the leaders ranked.
Thanks!
I concur. This has always bugged me a little bit, but not enough to post about. Thanks for everything, Fangraphs! Love the site.
Is there a limit to the number of stats we can look at in our dashboards? If so, if we list too many which ones get chosen. Many of my pitching stats are not showing up on my dashboard, and my guess is that I have too many listed. They seem to be chosen from my list in a random way (not in order). The stats being left out are in the middle of my list. Thoughts?
Is this on the stats pages or the leaderboards? You currently can’t customize your dashboard on the leaderobards, but that feature is coming.
If you’re having problems with the player pages custom dashboard I’ll take a look.
I guess I misread the new capability. I thought the dashboard was exportable to the leaderboard. I will wait for the new feature. It will be a great one, when it comes. 🙂
Thanks David. Having all the fielding stats in one place is awesome. I’ve been hoping for that for a long time.
The only problem is neither TZ nor TZL seems to be showing up in the leaderboards. Are they going to show up soon?
TZ and TZL prior to 2010 should show up. I imagine we’ll eventually have 2010, but haven’t asked Sean about it yet.
YAY!
I’ve been waiting for sortable tERA forever 🙂
