Cameron’s pieces are 80 grade because he’s willing to make bold claims that he believes in. Most of the other writers work too hard not to make a claim that they’ll be criticized for, so you get an interesting topic set up with no conclusion. Many FG pieces really feel like someone got assigned a topic they didn’t want, whereas nearly all of Cameron’s pieces feel like he got an idea in the middle of the night and ran with it.
Agree with you on Dave. Agree or disagree, his pieces always challenge my line of thinking and I appreciate that.
As for the “assigned a topic” comment, I’m allowed to write about pretty much whatever I choose.
What happened to Jonathan Schoop this year?
People couldn’t pronounce his last name. That player who was called up by the Orioles to play third base was actually Schoop used a fake name. He wanted something that was easy to pronounce and showed his obvious brovado. He picked Macho. Then the Orioles decided he could go by Machado and Machado could still secretly stay in the minors and progress while Schoop AKA Machado could forgo his former last name
okaaaaaayyyyyy.
What happened to Schoop was that he spent the entire season playing in Double-A at a Single-A appropriate age. Pop those numbers into the minor league equivalency calculator I fiddle around with and his triple slash translates to .300/.400/.483 had he played in Delmarva.
any particular thoughts on Steven Hill? strictly back up C material?
