Callis at BA has ranked the Big 3 righty draftees in order as Bundy, Bauer, and Cole. What is your ranking? And given the O’s historical pitching prospect development curve, when do you see Bundy in the bigs, assuming of course that the mythical Orioles pitching prospect curse does not strike him…

Josh Reddick had a higher WAR this season than Jurrjens. So, there’s that.

Don’t you think you are being a bit harsh on the Giants organization? I understand that performance is not the same as prospect status, but Brown and Panik were both named MVP’s or their respective age and development appropriate leagues by MILB. The Giants drafted 7 pitchers who have hit 97 on the radar gun so they are reloading their pitching depth. I don’t see the downside to having 3 catching prospects in their top 10. Good catchers are as scarce as hen’s teeth and the Giants have at least 3 and that doesn’t count Monell who is also a legitimate catching prospect.

1. This was Brown’s first full pro season. High A is both age and developmentally appropriate for him.

2. Yes, I am fully aware of what Peguro did in San Jose. I am also aware that he did pretty darn well in the strongly pitcher friendly Eastern League.

3. Other analysts who know a thing or two about scouting say Panik can stay as SS.

4. Tommy Joseph made great strides on defense this year and mashed as the second youngest player in the Cal League. He is easily a top 15 if not top 10 in most organizations.

5. The Giants organizational pitching has thinned out a lot in the last 2 years. Since John Barr took over as Scouting Director, their drafts have leaned more toward hitting. I would have preferred to see Brown traded for Beltran, but the Giants brass didn’t see it that way, plus I am sure Sandy Alderson knew what he was doing and insisted on Wheels. The Giants are already taking steps to re-stock the pitching though.

6. Monell has been a slower developer due to injuries early in his pro career. I think he will make MLB as a backup catcher which isn’t nothing. Left-handed hitting catchers can have long careers as backups. Not saying he should have been listed in the top 15, but he is a prospect at a position of extreme scarcity.

Have you had a chance to scout Martin Perez? I’ve heard talks of him, at times, having a plus verging on plus plus changeup, plus fastball and above-average/plus curveball. People seem to get hungout on his lack of success given his stuff but just turning twenty. Thoughts?
