I think Mike misread the Stanton trade question. The guy was saying would it take 2 grade As OR 2 A-s and a B+ to get him. Not all 5. I love Mike’s example though of Miller, Rosenthal, Martinez, Tavares and Joe Kelly for Stanton.

As a Marlins fan, I have had a similar thought for a couple of weeks, but I replaced Miller for Mat Adams and I added either one of their minor league power bullpen arms or Mat Carpenter

I am still a Marlins fan. I have been going to between 50-72 games per year for 17 years. I hate Loria and his son-in-law, David Sampson. I dont like them for different reasons than some of the other people down here. I just dont like being lied to. I had no issue moving JJ, Reyes, or Beurhle. I had actually been saying that we needed to trade JJ and find someone to take Reyes’ and Beurhle’s contract for a couple of weeks before that happened. Once we salary dumped Hanley and got to that point, the only thing we could do to get better was to make moves. My problem though is not getting enough value in return. I might have gone in a different direction in moving those players, but even with the move they made with the Blue Jays, they still should have got more. How did they not end up with d’Arnaud? They were asked on the night of the trade by Jim Bowden why they didnt and they said it was b/c they have Brantly. How nonsensical is that? How many teams are looking for catching right now? They could have easily flipped d’Arnaud or traded Brantly. Whatever. I dont really want to get into this again.

My question is this: Do you think a deal like the one I mentioned would be something that the Marlins or Cardinals might consider if it were on the table? The Cardinals could move Beltran somewhere for a prospect or 2 to put something back into the farm in that scenario. They are really deep in their farm and I’m not so sure that the move would hurt them down there too badly.
