Who amongst the 2011 draft class should I be grabbing in my dynasty league? I have Starling and Bradley for the time being, should I dig deeper?
Trevor Bauer and Danny Hultzen are both looking likely to play in MLB in 2012…give them both a look. Rendon and Cole may be a little less MLB ready but higher upside….
Don’t forget Josh Bell who dropped due to signability. Also, I have a contact who thought Lindor was the best all-around talent in the entire draft.
10 PLAYER keeper league H2H: please tell me who to keep for dynasty league (in a vacuum, position for hitters doesnt matter, just pick best hitters overall):
Hitters: Joe Mauer, Eric Hosmer, Dustin Ackley, Jeter, Neil Walker, Brett Lawrie, Jason Heyward, Chris Young (OF), Carlos Quentin, Jayson Werth, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Brandon Belt, Dominic Brown, Pedro Alvarez, Jesus Montero, Moustakas….
Pitchers: King Felix, Jared Weaver, Matt Moore, Julio Teheran….

Outting Rendon at 1B or LF would be ridiculous. He’s a premium defender at third base, and would be valuable as a second baseman. Wasting his glove at 1B or LF would be ridiculous, especially because his offensive profile of .300 hitter with 20-25 home runs isn’t nearly as valuable at 1B or LF. Moving Zimmerman is simply insane. He’s a premier MLB third baseman– I don’t think he’d even be receptive to the idea. More importantly, it’s a dumb one anyway.
How about Rendon to 2B, Espinosa to SS (he has more than enough glove), Zimmeran still at third, keep Morse at 1B. Desmond will be a placeholder until Rendon is ready, then he can be a super-utility guy or he’ll be trade bate at the deadline.
In the offseason, sign Coco Crisp–or– if Sizemore is available, make an honest run at him. Try to grab Nick Swisher, whose outfield defense is actually very solid and his on-base and power would fit well on Washington. Try to pick up Gardner from Yankees-your natural trade partner– with chips like Sean Burnett.
Long term, Harper in RF, Werth in LF, a defense-first centerfielder like Crisp in CF or a premier guy like Sizemore if they honestly believe he can stay someone healthy. Obviously, Brian Goodwin has superstar potential and could help soon.
Morse at 1B–once he gets more comfortable defensively will be plenty. Rendon at 2B where he’ll hit .290+ with 15-25 home runs and offer above-average ‘D annually. Espinosa at SS where he has a glove glove and a solid bat. Zimmerman at third where he can be an MVP and Ramos/Flores as a solid catching duo.
Add that lineup with Strasburg, Zimmerman, AJ Cole, Sammy Solis, Alex Meyer, Wang, Purke, Lannan, Detwiler, Peacock, Milone, Hernandez as an extremely deep core of starting pitching and a bullpen with Storen, Clippard, Burnett, Rodriguez in the front and you have a playoff-caliber team. Prospects like Walters, Maya and Demny should help too.
