Minor League Stats – Back for Good!
Good news everyone!
Minor league stats are updated for 2010 and will continue to be updated throughout whatever’s left of the season. We also have added the 2010 Mexican League, Venezuelan Summer League, and Dominican Summer League and plan to have the the winter leagues as well.
There’s still a little bit of cleanup that needs to be done in terms of player matching (Strasburg for instance has 2 pages still), but that should be completed this weekend.
David Appelman is the creator of FanGraphs.
Wooo!
Been waiting for thema ll year.
Fan Graphs just keeps getting better.
Nice work, guys.
What exactly happened this year?
Nothing good, but that’s all I’m going to say.
Is there anyway you guys can have a AAA post, AA post, A, etc…
I’m not sure if it’s possible, but doing it just by league isn’t extremely convenient.
You mean leaderboards for all of AAA? If so, possible and on the to-do list.
Exactly. Just separating it by level rather than league as a choice. Or one for all the minors as another category (though not important at all).
Sometimes looking through level is better than by individual league when searching for prospects.
Is there an MLE formula available a la Minor League Splits? I think a sortable MLE would be really useful and powerful
FINALLY!!!
Yay!!!
Will minor league game logs be coming back as well eventually?
Thanks for fixing this, awesome.
Something that baseball reference does that’s really useful, is that it breaks down minor league stats by A, AA, AAA etc. I find this is more useful then looking at individual years, since the jump from AA, to AAA is more relevant then the change from 2nd half 2009 AAA to first have 2010 AAA. It would be nifty if fangraphs could provide this kind of breakdown as well.
Excellent!
From the give-them-an-inch-and-they’ll-take-a-mile department: how about MiLB TotalZone? Super bonus points if it includes Rdef a la B-R. vivaelpujols pointed out the latter stat to me yesterday during a discussion about Tom Glavine’s career FIP-ERA, and I found it especially cool to be able to get some kind of historical reading on the overall defensive quality behind a pitcher.
YES! Now I can get rid of the FirstInning bookmark…
Amazing!
Just a suggestion, not that there haven’t already been a ton, but a way to sort minor league stats over the past 30 days? Would be cool to see which prospects have progressed or regressed since the start of the year.
You guys are probably aware of it, but several players who have been called up this season still don’t have their minor league stats integrated into their player profiles. When you search for Carlos Santana, for example, it brings up Carlos Santana the Indians’ catcher, and Carlos Santana the Minor League player.
Is that a fix that’s coming? I can’t imagine it’s easy to do, so it’s not a big deal if it takes a long time.
wtf? haven’t people/prospect rankers been disappointed in Jesus Montero? and he’s SIXTH in wOBA in the IL as a 20 year old?
WHy not add Atlantic League numbers_ 50 players form that league have been signed by MLB orgs this year and 35 are in the big leagues. Projecting who will get signed from the best indi league is a great parlor game.
I know the MiLB.com website includes ratio numbers for GO/AO, I think it’d be a nice addition for Fangraphs to show GB% for minor league pitchers so all that information can be on one site. It wouldn’t be a very difficult task to include something like that.
