Nicholas Minnix: Hard to say. He’s between his two extremes of this year. Home only is a way to attempt to max his rate of production for you, sure, as long as you have an alt.

Keeper league 7×7 Roto (SLG & Off K’s). In 2nd place with guys like kipnes, Longoria, C.Santana, Hosmer yet to start hitting. Top 3 in most pitching categories, middle of the pack in hitting. I got offered E.Encarnacion($38) for K.Bryant ($3). Am I patient for my guys and let this ride out or do I trade my stud keeper for a better chance this year.

Nicholas Minnix: Hmmmm … If your keeper rules inflate Bryant salary every year, I’d be more tempted. I want the title, I like your guys who are cold, but I’d try to lock up the win.

Aren’t we overrating Harper at this point? He has had one dominant month in his career? I know that he could be a great player. But til this point, hasn’t he been just “good” not “great? He always gets held in the same regard as Trout, who has actually played at a high level for much longer.

Nicholas Minnix: I held him in higher regard than Trout. Still do, for career, to be straight with you. He’s … 21? The ability is apparent. The acumen for the sport is off the charts, goes a long way with me. Combine it with that talent, better to me, still.

Nicholas Minnix: I think he’s overrated a little in fantasy, but the environment mitigates that. He’s pretty good, not elite, talent, in COL.

Nicholas Minnix: in part what you enjoy, largely what doesn’t become overly redundant. I prefer AVG to OBP, honestly. I like R, RBI, SB traditional style. HR or SLG is take your pick, SLG is fairer IMO. for pitching, ERA, WHIP, K’s are fine. W+QS and SV+HLD better it seems than the traditional, I think. I think we should develop a cat that replaces QS even.

Time to Geek It Up! How do you handle your fantasy leagues? Do you have spreadsheets with the entire league’s rosters? Multiple projections? Fancy Vlookups & pivot tables to look at ROS projections and projected standings? How do you handle things like Innings Limits and some teams having far more reserve spots at one position etc? I think this type of in-season league-wide management isn’t really discussed all that much!

Nicholas Minnix: Honestly, I don’t do that. I used to have too many leagues to do that. I think that’s serious dedication and I applaud it, tho! More information is never bad, as long as your discerning.

Nicholas Minnix: I use spreadsheets, but mostly for organization, and I do many estimates in my head these days. Too much to manage otherwise, for me.
