One Night Only: Game Previews for August 25th

Neither the author, nor this doctor in post-apocalyptic London, know precisely what to tell you.

Featured Game
Red Sox (10) at Texas (8) | 20:05 ET
• Each of today’s three most highly rated games comes with a caveat.
• For example: if you watch Braves-Cubs, you have to watch the Cubs.
• And also: if you watch Diamondbacks-Nationals, you have to watch John Lannan pitch.
• Continuing on: if you watch Astros-Giants, you have to watch the Giant offense.
• Honestly, I’ll probably watch Red Sox-Rangers — on account of Ian Kinsler and Jacoby Ellsbury and and the AL West race and some other reasons.

Andrew “The Slender Man” Miller, over/under 4 runs tonight in Texas?

Over. Has to be over.

I’d go over on 5 runs too.

However, I still think Boston wins. Something ugly like 10-7, but I think it’s Boston’s game. They have utterly humiliated Texas over the last two days and I definitely see that continuing.

Probably should have said 0ver/under 4.5 as I would consider 4 runs tonight to be a success for Miller. Really, this whole thing was just me trying to get Slender Man in as a nickname for him.

Ha! He sure showed you.

And me.

And really anyone else who’s ever watched a baseball game before. Seriously, Miller shutting down KC was no big thing, they’re much improved, but still kind of a bottom feeder. I don’t think anyone in the world saw Miller shutting down the Rangers in Arlington on only 83 pitches through 6 1/3.

Yeah. I liked how Francona pulled him after 83 pitches despite the shutout. He knew not to push his luck.

Is it morally right to televise tonight’s Orioles-Twins game?

I don’t care what NERD says, this Oakland/NY game is turning out to be extremely entertaining.

I thought Hughes sucked but Haren is right up there with him today.
