once again the “good pitching beats good hitting” statement is proven to be nonsense. If that were the case the rays would’ve won the series. defense is overrated too. it means nothing if you have a bunch of AWFUL hitters. the giants were a terrible defensive team and won it all last year. the yankees were the best team in the AL this year and are terrible defensively (supposedly) besides gardner. The mariners were built on defense last year and had guys that had good uzr ratings all over the place. how did that work out? i hope the rays trade shields acquire some guys that actually can put fear in the opposing team. it is SO EASY for opposing pitchers to navigate through that lineup

Considering the Rays had the 7th best park adjusted offense in the league, I’m not sure that “awful” offense was as bad as you think.
