R.I.P. Nick Adenhart
Last night, Nick Adenhart had the best start of his career, shutting out the A’s for 6 innings. It will be the last time anyone saw him pitch. He was killed in a car accident shortly after midnight.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Angels organization.

This is absolutely awful. As a Mariners fan this hits somewhat close to home and I feel horrible for the Angels and Adenharts family.
All I can say is wow. This is a total shock. To go from watching him pitch on TV in the evening (and being frustrated with the A’s inability to get the big hit off him as they kept getting men on) to hearing he was killed in a hit-and-run in the morning. Its just disgusting, what do you want to bet the guy that fled the scene was drunk?
He was, and not for the first time.
There were two others with Adenhart who died with him in the crash. The girl who was driving was just 20. Though they weren’t big league players, it’s just as much a tragedy for them and their families. And all completely avoidable. We’ve come a long way in reducing drunk driving, but not far enough.

You think about the potential this kid had. A career he would probably love, financial security….all gone that fast.
Please appreciate your daily lives out there my friends…..try and get everything you can out of every moment. I know I need to improve on this.
What a sad day for MLB and the Angels and the Adenharts (as well as the other passengers).
Hard to comprehend, and being only two years older than Adenhart it puts certain things into perspective.

As we are both Marylander, I was very interested in his promising career.

I agree with all, and this is simply not fair. I am a Canucks (NHL) fan, so I know what this is like from a fan’s point of view as Vancouver lost up and coming defenseman Luc Bourdon about 10 months ago.

I am a Dodger Fan. I have a lot of friends who are Angel fans. I heard about this maybe a 1/2 hour after i was talking to a co-worker about good he did just for the bullpen to blow his win. I felt awful, especially after hearing how it happened and how the driver of the other guy had a prior.it’s disgusting.
Awe man, what a shame, a terrible shame. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Adenhart Family and the others killed in the crash. A true waste of talent!
