Rookie Leaderboards!
There is now “rookie” filtering in the leaderboards.
The criteria to be a rookie is any season where a player has started the season with fewer than 130 at-bats, and fewer than 50 innings pitched. Roster time is not a factor in these, so there may be the occasional player that show up that is not technically a rookie by MLB standards.
What’s neat is you can combine this with the “Multiple Seasons” feature to get the best rookies of any decade (or any time period really). For instance, here are the top rookie seasons by pitcher WAR since 1980.
And here are the top rookie seasons by batter WAR from 2000 to 2009.
It’s worth noting that if you don’t check the “split season” box, it will combine all a player’s seasons when they were rookie eligible and it will not “split out” the seasons.
Anyway, there’s lots of neat ways to filter this data and please let us know if you run into any bugs.

I noticed that Verlander’s rookie year didn’t show up. Appears to be a glitch since he had a 3.1 WAR. Really cool feature though.
This should be fixed now.
2001 was a really good year for rookies.
That jumped out at me first. The thing that struck me second was Braun way down the first page of hitters, behind the likes of Kahlil Greene, thanks to his -27.7 fielding adjustment. That makes me crave an absolute value feature that would allow me to search the best offensive contributions matched by the worst gloves.

Ha, looking at 07. Braun had only 2.8 WAR despite a .422 wOBA. How can such a preternaturally good hitter be so completely inept in the field?
Obviously 3B was not a good fit for Braun, 2007 was his only season there. Plus, his WAR would have been much higher if he was called up earlier and he put up the same numbers over more than 113 games.

Can I assume that the 130 ABs or 50 Innings is not counting any ABs or innings pitched that occurred in September, or is that part of the roster time rules that you’re excluding?
It does include September, but it’s pretty unlikely anyone would accumulate 130 AB’s or 50 IP on just a September callup. They in all likelihood would have also had to have played earlier in the year in order to not be considered a rookie the next season.
I don’t think there’s any rules in general about not including September IP/AB when considering rookie eligibility. It’s really just the thresholds and roster time.
