Dan Szymborski FanGraphs Chat – 3/7/16

12:02
Dan Szymborski: There’s a chat for us. Somewhere a chat for us.

12:02
Dan Szymborski: Loud and crude and open air, wait for us, somewhere.

12:03
Dan Szymborski: Noontime in U.S. FanGraphs a time for us. Time together with time to spare, time to yell, time to glare. Today!

12:03
daneyko: Carlos Rodon is ready to become an All-Star ?

12:03
Dan Szymborski: Maybe not this year, but I’d be surprised if he never had an All-Star type season.

12:06
Zonk: Unless your first name happens to be “Avisail”, it’s hard not to like the A-Jax signing for the White Sox. What say you?

Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 3/4/16

9:05
Jeff Sullivan: Hello friends

9:05
Jeff Sullivan: Welcome to Friday baseball chat! There’s baseball happening!

9:06
Daniel: Your thoughts on the Jays this year? Seems like their PECOTA projections were a little conservative…84 wins seemed low even if it would give them a WC.

9:07
Jeff Sullivan: PECOTA puts them at 86-76 and Steamer/ZiPS puts them at 84-78. I like them more around 88-74; I don’t think they’re a particularly deep team, but they’re a strong team, and in a weird way I kind of like their underwhelming starting rotation

9:07
Jeff Sullivan: I obviously love Stroman, I’m on board with Happ, and I should hope they don’t give many starting opportunities to Sanchez because I think he’s a dynamite relieer

9:07
daneyko: do you like Ian Kennedy with the Royals. Better ERA in 2016 ?

Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 3/3/16

1:20
Eno Sarris: be here shortly. If you’ve seen the ads on MLBN, you’ve heard this song, but it’s great, and the video even better:

1:20
Eno Sarris:

12:00
Jack Black: Please rank for 2016: Eovaldi, R. Hill, Berrios, Snell

12:00
Eno Sarris: You got it, but I could see moving Berrios ahead of Hill. Hill only has two pitches…

12:00
enos brain:

12:01
Tom: Would you be so kind as to name three prospects you would love to roster at this weekend’s AL-LABR?

Dave Cameron FanGraphs Chat – 3/2/16

12:01
Dave Cameron: Happy Wednesday, everyone.

12:01
Dave Cameron: Let’s get this party started.

12:01
Mike D: What’re the chances Soler is traded by the deadline for pitching this year?

12:02
Dave Cameron: Would guess that either he or Schwarber don’t finish the year in Chicago. The one who doesn’t hit will probably be trade bait.

12:02
Mike D: How do some non-speed guys always beat BABIP averages?

12:03
Dave Cameron: They hit the ball hard and on a line. Guys like Miguel Cabrera square up a lot of pitches, and hard-hit balls are caught less often than balls that are hit up or down. Guys who can avoid infield flies also don’t give away free in-play outs.

FanGraphs After Dark Chat – 3/1/16

9:03
Paul Swydan: Whoops, lost track of time. OK, let’s start.

9:03
Trainman: Chapman suspension: fair or foul? Do you see him being the closer if Miller or Betances dominate out the gate?

9:05
Paul Swydan: So, on the one hand, I didn’t like the idea of giving him a suspension long enough to give the Yankees an extra year of his services. But I also think these domestic abuse offenders should be treated more harshly than PED offenders. And I think that there is, since no charges were filed in this case, and the woman was apparently *physically* unharmed, it leaves the door open for stiffer punishments when those things are in play. But we’ll have to see.

9:05
Jeff Zimmerman: Fair, wasn’t guilty in court. Miller will be closer

9:06
Ruby: Hypothetical: The best player on every team tears an Achilles on April 1. What happens to playoff odds?

9:06
Paul Swydan: Probably not a ton, because every team is losing that one player. Maybe the Angels and Nationals and Dodgers are affected a little more than most.

Dan Szymborski FanGraphs Chat – 2/29/16

11:59
Dan Szymborski: We get signal.

11:59
Dan Szymborski: Main screen turn on.

11:59
Rick: ZiPS projection for wRC+ is on the individual player pages, but not on the mass spreadsheet or compiled projections page. Is there any way to fix this?

12:00
Dan Szymborski: No, because I don’t calculate wRC+

12:00
Outta my way, Gyorkass: I saw on the Brewers ZiPS page that O. Arcia is projected to be a +2 WAR player. Is that all in the defense? He’s hit well, but nothing above AA ball.

12:00
Dan Szymborski: A 20-year-old hitting like that in AA isn’t something to poo-poo.

Jeff Sullivan: Hello friends

9:11
Jeff Sullivan: Welcome to late baseball chat

9:11

Paul Sporer Baseball Chat — 2/25/16

11:57
Eno or Paul? Paul or Eno?: Hi Eno…or Paul,

11:57
Eno Sarris: It’s Paul!!!

11:58
Eno Sarris: If you watch Broad City, you’ll recognize this fire af jam from last week’s premier. It’s great:

11:58
Eno Sarris: Let’s talk some baseball!

11:58
Ryan: Dynasty league — Michael Brantley or Justin Upton?

11:59
Eno Sarris: Going Upton here. Not only does Brantley have the shoulder this year, but the back from previous year makes him a little sketchy long-term, too.

Dave Cameron FanGraphs Chat – 2/24/16

12:03
Dave Cameron: It’s Wednesday, so let’s chat. I was only expecting to chat for 60 minutes or so, but Jose Bautista thinks 150 is more reasonable.

12:03
Dave Cameron: So we’ll see how long we go!

12:03
mtsw: [Orioles physical joke]

12:04
Dave Cameron: I wonder exactly what they think this all accomplishes? What’s the point of being known as the organization who will back out of deals?

12:04
Eddy: Should the Rangers opt to start Gallo in LF to open the season? Feel like they have viable in house options instead of signing a FA.

12:04
Dave Cameron: It seems like he should at least get a look, given that he’s blocked by Beltre at third. But if they are serious about contending, they can’t have their plan be Gallo with no backup.
