LFC Mike: Dan. Please tell us you didn’t pull a quad, or strain a hamstring, or tweak an oblique , break a fingernail or twist an ankle or drop furniture on your foot the past week. If so you are doing better than most baseball players. The amount of injuries from baseball players doing “regular baseball things” except furniture moving is getting a bit ridiculous. Yes it is April..but is conditioning, especially the legs, getting less focus on and is more being focused on upper body, launch angle strength?

Dan Szymborski: I do have an ongoing back issue for which I’m receiving physical therapy

Jason N: Dan – if the players union makes it a point to try to get money over to players earlier in their career, will the owners care if 1) the piece of the rev pie they spend on salary is stable and 2) if it’s directionally based on performance?  In other words, how contentious will owners make this in the next negotiation?

Dan Szymborski: I think owners will generally be agnostic if it doesn’t change how much they’re paying overall

Dan Szymborski: smaller-revenue teams *will* cause a fuss at increased performance connection

Dan Szymborski: simply put, the Yankees marginal wins are far more valuable than the Rays

Dan Szymborski: The current system disincentives investment.

Dan Szymborski: But for teams like the Rays, a $=WAR system disinentives being good under *any* strategy

Can one delude oneself into thinking he’s palatable if they just keep him regular? Or has he not done enough to warrant that treatment?
