Dan Szymborski: I probably intentionally walk the next hitter, so at least there’s a shot at getting a double play on two mortals. I don’t typically like walking the bases loaded, simply becuase the margin for error is so small.

Hi, I’m in 10 team head to head points league, but we play 2 half seasons (with a complete redraft after week 11…playoffs are weeks 10-11).
I’m 2-0, so I’m in good shape thus far to make the 4 team playoffs, but with Kershaw and Latos in my 2 DL spots, Paxton is taking up a spot that could help me fill my 12 starts per week.
Somoeone panicked and dropped Jared Weaver and I can claim with the #1 waiver pick. Should I drop Zack Wheeler or James Paxton for him?

Dan Szymborski: I think it’ll be longer than is reasonable – I have zero faith in Terry Collins. Germen’s the likely candidate, especially with Jeurys Familia’s command issues.

Is Fangraphs Zips and Steamer ROS projections for a player a new projection or is it just a prorated depiction of the original full year projection. If it’s new, how often are projections revised?

Dan Szymborski: Well that would be lazy! The RoS takes into account new data (as you can see, the RoS lines and the original projections are different)

Dan Szymborski: Now, the in-season projections are *simpler* than the standard ZiPS projections.

Dan Szymborski: Considering it takes my PC with a 3930k 20 seconds to do a straight-up ZiPS projection, it would be impractical to batch run that every morning.

Dan Szymborski: But the RoS is calculated daily – Appelman has it all programmed so that I don’t have to do it.
