I jumped on the fantasy expert’s underground Erasmo Ramirez bandwagon a few times in the past two years and got burned each time, so now I’m leery of him. Is this the Erasmo that experts were expecting? Is he once again a sneaky add in 12-teamers?

Eno Sarris: Dropping the curve might be important. HIs change has always been good. If he gets good when his fastball is at his slowest… I just don’t know. I’ve been pro-Eraser in the past, and I don’t like to get burned off a player by small sample disasters, but still. The small samples have all added up to 260 innings of a 4.5 ERA.

The Pirates are on a tear. Do you see this pitching to keep up for at least the majority of the rest of the season?

Eno Sarris: I love the Pirates. With Taillon and Kingham (now starting to throw), I think they have some bullets left in the gun, too. I see growth for Polanco, maybe even soon, and playing Kang is an easy way to get more offense.

Jesse Chavez now has an xFIP around 3.5 over 32 starts with the A’s. What do they do with him going forward?

Eno Sarris: For some reason I don’t think anyone is trading for a 31 year old with his long-term history, even with the results he’s shown over the last three years. And even the A’s seemed to be working with Chavez out of the top five until they had to make the switch. So I think he’s their perennial 150 IP swing-starter-reliever guy.

Eno Sarris: Absolutely no way he’s going to do anything unilateral. I might get a question of him this Friday, maybe it’ll be about long-term plans for the game. But if this happens, it happens, and then change happens later.

Recently discovered some CA breweries likeThe Lost Abbey, The Bruery, Ale Smith & 21st Amendement all available at a place I vacation at a few times over the summer . Recommendations on the best few beers from these places. I assume the limited release stuff won’t be available.

Eno Sarris: Lost Abbey Red Poppy is somewhat limited, but you might see it. It’s the bomb. It’s Jeff Sullivan’s favorite sour, and one of mine too. AleSmith X is my desert island beer, just the most soiffable easy x pale ale. Really good. The Bruery makes an horchata beer Or Xata that is … really interesting. I like their sours in general, always worth taking a shot at one of their beers. I like their Berliner Weisse too. But 21A is not my favorite. Their black IPA and their watermelon beer are okay, worth trying once I guess.

I am trying to figure out what type of hitter Kris Bryant really is. Do you think Kris Bryant is destined to forever be a .265 type hitter, as his Steamer and ZiPS projections suggest. Or can he maintain a significantly higher average and hit for power? His biggest power month was May (7 HR) where he hit….265. He has hit .320+ in Mar/Apr/Jun with a lot less power (1 HR).

Eno Sarris: too many strikeouts to be a great batting average guy, but I’ll take .265 with good power.

Eno Sarris: Yes actually. I might want a better second piece than Morse though. Jace not stealing very well, doesn’t have power. I think his patience and contact and versatility wiill keep him in the bigs and probably in a nice role, but Guerrero showing all that power.

Why do you believe that mchugh’s fastball is below average if it gets above average grounders and swinging strikes?

Eno Sarris: I mean if we’re talking his four-seamer. His cutter/slider is excellent.

Eno Sarris: And you have to weight those swinging strike numbers, and he throws the fastball less than anyone not named Dickey, so it’s a pitching backwards thing.

I see a lot of advice to go for broke on a season, but sometimes the right answer is to hold and battle it out with what you have so you can be top 3 for 4-5 years instead of a champion for one year and a rebuilder the other 4 years. or are prospects overrated and i should always sell for victory today?

Eno Sarris: I always want to be competitive. I don’t fire sale. But I’ll sell pieces here or there near the end of the year, for pieces that will help next year. Like for TJ guys, or close rooks, or whatever.

In general, how is FIP and xFIP calculated?

Eno Sarris: FIP focuses only on walks, strikeouts, and homers because those events are uniquely between the pitcher and the batter and don’t involve position players (other than the catcher). xFIP normalizes those home run rates for park and league.

Eno Sarris: I worry about his command, because they usually tell you to keep your breaking ball in your pocket while you’re rehabbing TJ, and also command in general isn’t great at first. So he had some promise, but I’m thinking more likely he’s anything other than a warm body in 2016.

Hate to say it, but did the Mets make a mistake by locking up Lagares? His bat and defense have both regressed, and he’ll probably be part of the reason Conforto gets blocked next year (Granderson and Cuddyer contracts being the other reasons).

Eno Sarris: I don’t think so. I know that arbitration would have given him less money, but $23m until 2019 is fine even for a fourth outfielder with great defense. Not going to break the team.

Living in Germany with my German fiancee. Yesterday she was on a commuter train. It pulled into the station that was the last stop, the driver made a bunch of announcements telling everyone to get off, but never opened the doors. People waiting on the platform for their family were banging from the outside, people on the inside were banging, but somehow the buttons didn’t work, the driver didn’t notice, and the train left the station. Here’s my thing: if I was on that train, I’d be pulling the freaking emergency stop lever like IMMEDIATELY. Eno Sarris: Yeah I think it could manage. There are all sorts of people in the clubhouse now, it’s not really the most private place. Players don’t know that much about each other’s personal lives unless they are friends, and there are plenty of people that just come to work and work. As for media distractions, every team has those.
