1. There should be FanGraphs local meetups! Are there FanGraphs local meetups?

2. It’s a little weird that you guys think “male friends” is a category of thing rather than just “friends.” I mean, I understand what you’re getting at — people are socialized very differently according to gender in lots of ways and there is an at least somewhat male-midlife-specific kind of loneliness in mainstream US middle-class-couple culture — but you know, you can also not follow that script.

I should probably admit I didn’t listen to the whole podcast yet, just the first 20 minutes or so, before I had to take a break and… wait for it… meet a friend. Maybe around minute 40 you guys go all sociological gender-theory and I’ll enjoy it when I get there.
