Position: Affiliate Manager

Department: Player Development
Reports to: Director, Player Development

Primary Objective: Responsible for coordination, support and assistance to the Director, Player Development in all facets of player education, preparation, and planning at assigned affiliate. Manage the on-field affiliate in all areas of player development including in-game management, and practice design.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement the Focus Points and Peak Performance manuals
  • Create day-to-day schedules, lineups and execute in-game management at affiliate.
  • Assist in developing the professional skillsets of affiliate coaches and staff members.
  • Collaborate with staff members, including High Performance and Analytics Departments, to develop players on field skills.
  • Collaborate with Baseball Operations staff in developing and implementing Player Plans.
  • Ensure that all technical, advance scouting and statistical initiatives are being met.
  • Assist in community involvement efforts, including maintaining presence at events, collaborating with the affiliate front office and being an ambassador for the Seattle Mariners.
  • Communicate with Player Development coordinators regarding the teaching of fundamentals in all areas.
  • Develop a high level of knowledge of industry best practices, including and not limited to, practice design, relevant technology, and teaching methods.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Equivalent, relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management.
  • Five (5) years relevant experience.
  • Playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
  • Basic Spanish proficiency preferred.

Position: Major League Video Intern

Department: Baseball Operations
Reports To: Major League Video Coordinator
Status: Nonexempt
Location: Seattle, WA

Primary Objective: Responsible for assisting Major League Video Coordinator and Major League Video Assistant in day-to-day video and technology operations associated with Seattle Mariners MLB and MiLB teams. Create, edit, capture, catalog, and distribute video for Mariners coaches, staff and players.

Candidates must be able to start by the beginning of Spring Training 2022.This position is expected to last through the end of the Minor League Season through September 2022, depending on business needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in coordinating daily video requests for coaches, staff, and players.
  • Assist in collecting data from various technology sources and catalog results for review.
  • Operate cameras, data collection technology and high-speed equipment before and during games.
  • Work with Major League Video Coordinator to provide advance scouting video and data prior to daily meetings.
  • Assist Major League Video Assistant with coordination of Minor League video operations.
  • Provide data and video quality assurance and help execute video trades with other organizations.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software locally and remotely as needed.
  • Troubleshoot clubhouse technology equipment upon request.
  • Coordinate post-game video sharing process to players, coaches and staff.
  • Will perform duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent, relevant work will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management.

  • Must have prior experience with Bats video charting software, Dropbox, Trackman, Rapsodo, Edgertronic cameras, etc.

Position: Minor League Development Intern

Department: Player Development
Reports To: Major League Assistant Video Coordinator
Status: Non-Exempt

The Seattle Mariners are seeking Minor League Development Interns for all Mariner Minor League Affiliates for the 2022 season Must be available to start by March 3rd, 2022. This is a seasonal position with an end date expected to be September 31, 2022, determined by the conclusion of the 2022 Minor League season. An extension may be considered due to business needs. Positions will be based at Seattle Mariner Affiliates; AAA Tacoma, AA Arkansas, A+ Everett, A- Modesto, and Rookie level Peoria.

Primary Objective: Responsible for the coordination of day-to-day video and technology operations associated with assigned Minor League team, coaching staff, players, and the Player Development department.

Essential Functions:

  • Editing, capturing, cataloging, and distributing video and data for Minor League Coaching Staff and players, in addition to providing Advance Scouting reports prior to each home/road contest. Capture, tag and upload video for assigned Minor League Affiliate using BATS software for all home and road contests during regular season/post season play.
  • Capture, tag and upload video for assigned Minor League Affiliate using BATS software for all home and road contests during regular season/post season play.
  • Collect video and data from bullpens, batting practice and defensive work.
  • Coordinate use of performance science equipment (Rapsodo, Edgertronic, Blast, etc.) and provide results to coaches and staff.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing Advance Scouting reports prior to each game.
  • Coordinate with affiliate Trackman intern for data collection and upload process
  • Assist coaching staff with miscellaneous video and data related projects.
  • Serve as team point of contact for technological troubleshooting.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience with BATS video charting software, Dropbox, Trackman, Trackman Portable, Rapsodo, Edgertronic cameras, etc. preferred.
  • Previous experience with an MLB or NCAA Baseball organization preferred.

Position: Affiliate Hitting Coach

Department: Player Development
Reports to: Minor League Hitting Coordinator

Primary Objective: Responsible for creating daily practice design schedules, carrying out player plan meetings, and driving the organizational initiatives and philosophies at the assigned affiliate.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the daily activity for all hitters assigned to the affiliate roster, including practice design, player plan meetings, and daily advance scouting meetings.
  • Suggest mechanical and tactical changes to the Hitting Coordinator based on information and observations that are made throughout the season.
  • Provide consistent and accurate updates on players within the Mariners database.
  • Communicate consistently with affiliate trainers and strength staff regarding player health, body movement and availability.
  • Participate in community relations efforts in collaboration with the affiliate front office.

Position: Minor League Hitting Coordinator

Primary Objective: Responsible for providing coordination, support and assistance to the Director, Player Development, in staff communication, education, preparation, strategic planning, and the implementation of Mariners philosophies for minor league hitting operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate consistently with all affiliate hitting coaches, the Analytics department, rehab coordinators, and High Performance staff regarding the health, progress, and overall development of all hitters in the organization.
  • Assist in creating detailed Player Plans for all hitters in the organization, as well as ensuring these initiatives are being met to a high standard on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the function, application, and implementation of all hitting related technologies, teaching tools, and Mariners portals in the player development domain are being met.
  • Manage the daily activities, related drills, and scheduled work sessions for all hitters and hitting coaches during minor league spring training and other player development camps.

Position: Peak Performance Coach

Department: Player Development
Reports to: Senior Director, Baseball Development
Status: Exempt

Primary Objective: Responsible for coordination, support and assistance to coaches and players in developing their philosophies, awareness, vision, and processes for success of the individuals, and the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and execute group presentations for mini camps, Spring Training, and affiliates.
  • Create a system and a set of routines that will condition the coaches and athletes to develop an attitude and a focus that will give them the best opportunity to perform at their potential.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings and conversations with players.
  • Manage and maintain the Mariners Peak Performance portal, including finding relevant content, creating webpages, and sending out weekly emails.
  • Support coaching staff with relevant mental skills information while always being available as a resource.
  • Pursue continued education and research in the sport psychology industry to stay up to date on best practices.

Primary Objective: Responsible for providing coordination, support and assistance to minor league operations.

Essential Functions:
