Your analysis of the Tigers’ chances of winning it all before the playoffs began was surpisingly sloppy.
The Tigers were one of eight teams that would be playing after the Wild Card game. That makes their chances, ignoring differences between teams, 12.5%.
Your assumption that they were “built for the playoffs” just because they won the first round and are leading in the 2nd is also not justified.
Your only correct, though trivial, statement was that their chances now are better than 10%.

YOUR assumption that Jeff’s statement of “built for the playoffs” was assumed based on results of the first and second rounds is not justified.

No one got around to talking about the assigned wins question. I think one of way of approaching this question would be to subtract games started from wins (Wins minus Games Started). There might be a stat for relief wins, which would be helpful as well.
