Leaderboards Feature: Single Seasons

Over this off-season we rolled out a slew of new features to the leaderboards including splits, multiple seasons, and additional fielding stats.

Now, for batters and pitchers if you are looking over multiple seasons you can break out each individual season. For instance, maybe would you like to know which position player had the highest single season WAR total since 2002.

Or maybe which American League batter had the highest single season wRC+ since 1990.

Or which National League qualified-starting-pitcher in the past 5 years had the lowest single season BB/9.

Anyway, there’s lots to play around with here. Remember that this only works for batters and pitchers and does not currently work for any of the splits.

Yes, splits would be nice.

Just yesterday, I was looking for highest GB% on balls in play for pitchers with minimum 10 IP during Sept./Oct. I had to do a search for each year and then collate the results.

Love this feature… great addition

It helped me find who the worst hitting starting pitcher (100PA min) since 1950. Dean Chance recorded 3 of the 4 lowest wOBAs since 1950: .075, .089, .091

He was really just pathetic at the dish, 44 hits in 759 lifetime PA accumulating -10.5WAR

he was a pretty decent pitcher though coming in with a lifetime ERA of 2.92

Somehow Alfonso Soriano’s 2007 season was the best fielding runs above average (32.0) since 2002. Visually that doesn’t seem right.

Soriano adventures in the outfield look like those of his new Chicago neighbor Adam Dunn who posted the -37.1 in 2009, the worst since 2002.

Great stuff. This website just keeps getting better and better.

But one question: Why can’t we have WARgraphs for pitchers?

Simple but great addition.

The 1927 Yankees were absurd. The 4th and 5th best seasons of all time hitting back to back.
