NLDS Game Three Discussion Post
We’ll resume our live blog coverage a little later on in the postseason, but if you guys want to hang out and discuss the Nats-Giants and Cards-Dodgers games tonight, feel free to use this thread for that discourse.
Dave is the Managing Editor of FanGraphs.
What, like, down here?
Looks like it.
Read: Fangraphs readers are aware of the odds of the Nationals winning the series and thus won’t be watching unless fans of SF or WAS…

I hope the Giants take Worf’s attitude towards this game. Don’t just beat the Nationals, maim them.
DEATH TO THE OPPOSITION!

Was going to comment that the strike zone seems tiny today, but that strike three to Harper wasn’t even close.
Compare it to the strike zone in the Dodgers – Cardinals game where everything’s a strike as long as it lands between 1st and 3rd and bounces less than twice.
that strike 3 to harper was just absurd. http://i.imgur.com/yHciMRr.jpg
This defensive positioning graphic MLB network is putting on is growing on me
It’s superb
Fother Mucker.
Holy mackerel, who’s letting Tony Bennett out in public? He definitely just sang, “To the ocean, ripe with gold”
Lay off Tony Bennett you little punk!
Go back to your lame attempt at proving the existence of a priori synthetic knowledge.
Well, no sweeps in the NLDS’.
Got the football game on the TV and the baseball game on the computer. Can’t decide about audio, though. Joe Buck vs. Jon Gruden is a real shitfest.
Go cardinals radio broadcast. Shannon is a gem
shannon is a *drunk* FTFY
In a world of polished corporate sleaze bags whose main distinguishing features are how they raise their voice or what color bowtie they are wearing, I’ll take a solid alkie every time. I will admit it can get annoying when he’s meandering through a story while there’s action being missed on the field, but I still find his smoking in the booth and grandfatherly slur endearing.
WHY DONT THE CARDS THROW UP TO PUIG?? He obviously cant hit anything above his hands, pop him up and move on
i wish there was an actual game chat for these two games ;/
I think we’re going to need a Dale Scott post in the morning. This is a ridiculous.
He was all over the place. Rosenthal threw literally the exact same pitch to Kemp, first was a ball, second was a strike. I’ll be interested to see how one sided the ball/strike calls were. Or not.
And so we learn Brandon League’s most valuable role is stopper.
As in, literally, a solid obstacle that stops the ball.
Pretty sure Dale Scott called a pickoff attempt a strike earlier tonight…
By my count, STL got 2 more called strikes (using the generous zones) than the Dodgers, as well as 2 Dodger pitches in the zone that should have been strikes that were called balls to 0 for STL. Who knows how many batters swung out of the zone because of Scott’s Gregg-like zone tonight?

Kemp had at least 2 AB’s taken out of his hands by Scott’s brutal zone tonight. Is he normally considered an extreme pitcher’s umpire?
