Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 6/5/15

9:11
Jeff Sullivan: Hi friends!

9:11
Jeff Sullivan: You are all my friends, because you are so tolerant of my tardy behavior.

9:11
Jeff Sullivan: Only true friends would be so forgiving

9:11
Comment From jocephus
interested to see how venditte does?

9:11
Jeff Sullivan: Aren’t we all? Going to be fun to look at his PITCHf/x plots. Also, going to be impossible to look at his PITCHf/x plots

9:13
Jeff Sullivan: For the record, he hasn’t been great — lower strike rate than usual, for him. But today I’m learning he’s something of an infield-fly machine

Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 6/4/15

11:31
Eno Sarris: Going to do some electronica today. Starting off easy.

11:32
Eno Sarris:

12:01
Eno Sarris: I’m here!!!

12:01
Comment From Shawn
Thoughts on Lance McCullers? Coming up he was thought to be a reliever due to command issues, but he’s looked great so far.

12:03
Eno Sarris: Definitely top 75, I forget exactly where I put him in my ranks today. Only concern is that the ball rate on his changeup suggests he can’t command that thing. But if he can get to two strikes, or ahead with one strike to lefties, then he can whip that thing out. The curve and fastball are great, and he has good enough command with them, but not good enough to not have a change.

12:03
Comment From Matt, Chicago
Just deal for Posey and now have a dumpable Derek Norris and need a SS…..Jung-Ho Kang needs a sweetener coming back right? And Segura is too much? 14 Teamer, H2H with Avg. & OBP

Dan Szymborski FanGraphs Chat – 6/3/15

12:03
Dan Szymborski: Here we are, face to face, a couple of Silver Spoons.

12:03
Dan Szymborski: Hoping to find, we’re to of a kind, making a go, making it grow

12:03
Dan Szymborski: Together, we’re going to find a way.

12:04
Dan Szymborski: Also, I misspelled two.

12:04
Comment From Professor Ross Eforp
Who might be the next Wade Davis? Is there any way to identify these guys ahead of time?

12:05
Dan Szymborski: To this degree, not really. He always had a good strikeout rate in relief, but his velocity has improved in an off the charts way in relief

FanGraphs After Dark Chat – 6/2/15

6:02
Paul Swydan: Hi!

6:03
Paul Swydan: 9 pm ET, just me tonight. Get your questions in. See you soon!

6:18
Paul Swydan: Just want to note quickly here that Andrew Cashner was the 45th pitcher ever to allow at least 11 hits and strike out at least 12 batters in a game last night, but became the FIRST to do so in less than five innings. Sort of cool?

http://www.baseball-referen…

9:02
Paul Swydan: OK, enough polls, let’s chat!

9:02
Comment From Not Big Trouble in Little China too!
Do you think Jose Berrios gets the call any time soon?

9:03
Paul Swydan: Heading into the season, KIley had his present grades as pretty close to his future grades, and he has done nothing but impress thus far. The good news is that the Twins don’t NEED him right now, so they have the luxury of keeping him down another two weeks past the Super 2 deadline. But if he stays hot, I would expect him soon thereafter.

Dave Cameron FanGraphs Chat – 6/1/15

11:43
Dave Cameron: It’s a Monday, but you’re stuck with me this week, as Dan Szymborski and I flipped days this week. You can bug Dan on Wednesday, but today, you get my hazy post-vacation musings.

11:43
Dave Cameron: The queue is now open, and we’ll get started in about 15 minutes.

12:01
Dave Cameron: (And after I typed all that out, I forgot to actually open the queue. So now we’ll push the start time back a little bit to let you guys get some questions in while I finish this piece about the Twins.)

12:12
Dave Cameron: Alright, let’s get this party started.

12:13
Comment From dom
Is becoming Joe Panik a best case scenario for Rob Refsnyder’s development? How likely is that to happen

12:14
Dave Cameron: Panik is a weird comparison for Refsnyder, who might actually have some power but probably is a negative defender at the position. I’d guess he’s more Kelly Johnson or something.

Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 5/29/15

9:14
Jeff Sullivan: Boy! It’s a chat

9:15
Jeff Sullivan: And you’re invited!

9:15
Comment From Trader Joe
Is Strasburg broken or a good buy low opportunity?

9:16
Jeff Sullivan: While I recognize this as a fantasy question, it’s also a real-baseball question, so I’ll let it slide. The stuff is there. There’s no clearly obvious indication of injury, and the Nationals do have some depth to use if they were more genuinely concerned. I think what we’re seeing is mechanical, and I think Strasburg straightens it out. Look for a far, far better second half

9:18
Comment From Jeff
A lot of people probably expected more out of Phil Hughes this year, just based off what he did last season. Safe to assume he won’t return to last years form? Ks are down, and HR/FB % has doubled from last year. Time to drop, and move on?

9:18
Jeff Sullivan: He is still doing the same thing in one way: he’s getting ahead in the count crazy often. He’s pounding the zone with strikes, like never before, save for 2014

Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 5/28/15

11:13
Eno Sarris: Doing a thing today. My parents’ music that I remember, and then stuff I listen to today that is somehow related.

11:13
Eno Sarris:

12:01
Comment From RK
Remember when I took issue with you calling Polonco’s rookie year “outstanding” and you doubled down saying you wanted all my (imaginary) shares?

12:01
Eno Sarris: I’ll still take your shares! I still see above average speed, patience and contact and I think the power will develop.

12:01
Comment From Maxamuz

I paid $18 for Harper. Trout went for $42.

12:02
Eno Sarris: He was surprisingly interesting to interview. Maybe I shouldn’t say surprising, but Trout’s so terrible, so I figured some of the very top just wouldn’t tell me anything.

Paul Sporer FanGraphs Chat – 5/27/15

12:03
Comment From Brian
Trade Axford for Burnett in Roto league?

12:03
Paul Sporer: Definitely

12:03
Paul Sporer: Hello everybody! I’m filling in for Dave. Trying to stay dry in Austin, Texas. And crushing some Drake: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

12:03
Comment From Graham
Would you trade Stanton for Harper?

12:04
Paul Sporer: Sure. They aren’t too far apart, even with Harper’s madness

12:04
Comment From Graham
Guess on when Correa gets called up?

FanGraphs After Dark Chat – 5/26/15

3:21
Paul Swydan: Hi everybody! I will be here at 9 pm ET to talk some baseball. Jeff will likely be along as well, and we’ll aim to have our usual spate of outstanding disagreements. So get your questions in and we’ll see you soon!

9:02
Paul Swydan: Hi everybody, we’ll get started in a minute.

9:03
Comment From Fake GM
Hey Jeff! Could you rank the following players in terms of fantasy value ROS: Alex Gordon, Ryan Zimmerman, Josh Harrison, Lucas Duda, Jhonny Peralta. Thanks!

9:05
Paul Swydan: Duda, Peralta, Zimmerman/Gordon, Harrison for me, even though you didn’t ask me. (cries in the corner)

9:06
Jeff Zimmerman: Hi, sorry for the delay in showing up

9:07
Jeff Zimmerman: Gordon, Duda, Zimmerman, Harrison Peralta
