Jeff Sullivan: Sorry about that, had to meet with the landlord right at 9 sharp

Jeff Sullivan: Her idea! I’m always late for this anyway! At least this time I have a good excuse for my terrible behavior

Jeff Sullivan: So anyway, hello friends, let’s baseball chat

frank the tank: Brian Costa
?
@BrianCostaWSJWSJ exclusive: ex-Cardinals scouting director Chris Correa to be indicted today. Will plead guilty to charges related to hacking Astros.
10:29 AM – 8 Jan 2016

Jeff Sullivan: Remember this? This was the biggest thing! Literally only a few months ago. You figure discipline from MLB could and should eventually follow

Guest: If the Brewers move Khris Davis, could they expect a lower-end top 100 propsect back, plus maybe some filler? (Sorry, it’s January and I’m bored)

Eno Sarris: Why’d I eat that third pork chop?

Eno Sarris:

Bork: IT’S AN ENO DAY YES IT IS.

Eno Sarris: I appreciate your energy as I am coming off a long discussion about headless boob bobbleheads that has exhausted me.

tim: Where is upton going to sign?

Eno Sarris: I suppose he’s everyone’s backup plan, which is weird because I’d take him over Cespedes.

Paul Swydan: Hi everybody! I accidentally started the chat, but as you probably know, we won’t truly be starting until 9 pm ET. So, we’ll see you soon, for the first chat of the year!

Guest: HNY

Paul Swydan: Happy New Year to you all as well!

Carr: did Jeter dope to prolong his career – speculations only

Paul Swydan: I sincerely doubt it.

Jeff Zimmerman: No

august fagerstrom: i’m not *THAT* late!

august fagerstrom: chat soundtrack, in honor of one of my favorite bands getting back together to announce a tour, is LCD Soundsystem – Sound of Silver

oblig:

august fagerstrom: this is what he tried to post:

august fagerstrom: which I must say, is an excellent start to the chat.

Zonk: What QO-eligible FAs, in your opinion are most likely to get “Drewed”, meaning end up with a contract less than the $15.8 mil they would get if they took the QO?

august fagerstrom: alright let’s start this thang up a little early

august fagerstrom: good afternoon to all, and I hope any time spent with family recently was cherished

august fagerstrom: chat soundtrack: Lil Ugly Mane – Three Sided Tape, Volume One

august fagerstrom:

august fagerstrom: also, a user recommendation –

Derek: Can I start the chat off with a music rec? William Onyeabor – Fantastic Man. I’d post a youtube link but, at work.

Derek Carr: Kenta to the Dodgers is all but done, right? He was visiting the stadium over the weekend

Dan Szymborski: While it seems likely, lots of things have seemed likely.

Dan Szymborski: Remember when everybody in the world was 100% sure Bernie Williams was going to sign with the Diamonbdbacks?

Dan Szymborski: And I’m saving the off-topic questions for the Lightning ROund

Dan Szymborski: Unless it looks like nobody’s here, possibly caused by the weird time we started.

BK: Simply looking for a gut reaction here: If you were Carlos Correa, what number would it take for you to sign a lifetime contract right now (same AAV every year, deal pays until you’re 38)?

Paul Swydan: HI EVERYBODY!

Paul Swydan: It’s the last chat of the year, and I’m flying solo because Jeff has a Rotoworld mock draft. Let’s get to it!

ben: Betts or buxton for rest of career

Paul Swydan: Definitely Betts. He’s only a year older than Buxton, and already has two productive seasons under his belt. I’m not really bullish on Buxton in general.

Mets Fan: How excited should I be about Alejandro de Aza?

Paul Swydan: Not very. It’s a move that doesn’t have much potential for failure – which makes it similar to the Walker and Cabrera moves – but like those moves, it doesn’t have a big chance for success.

august fagerstrom: hello!

august fagerstrom: being that I missed last week’s chat, what with me being out of the country and all, we’ll go a little longer this week.

august fagerstrom: for now, though, I’m going to head down to the deli and procure myself a sandwich. get those questions in and I’ll be back around noon to commence chatting

august fagerstrom: also, we can totally talk about Star Wars if you guys want

august fagerstrom: today’s chat soundtrack: Vince Guaraldi Trio – A Charlie Brown Christmas

august fagerstrom: I just saw a man carrying a motorcycle up a flight of steps on my way back from the deli, so I suppose we can begin no

Dan Szymborski: There are already 50 questions!

Dan Szymborski: I blame Cistulli for this somehow.

Jones: Braves have done a great job restocking their farm system. However, I feel like they only have maybe a couple actual elite prospects (Swanson, maybe Newcome & Albies). Would you agree, or are there some others in the system you think are elite prospects?

Dan Szymborski: While they’re nto overflowing with elites, they have a lot of *upside* guys, like some of the lower-level pitching they’ve stocked. They’re going to hit on some of those out of quantity.

David: What’s the biggest amount you earn on a bet?

Dan Szymborski: 4400. Bet on Scherzer to win the Cy Young before 2013.

Jeff Sullivan: Hello friends

Jeff Sullivan: Welcome to baseball chat

Jeff Sullivan: Let’s do what we always do!

spoiler: darth is lukes dad

Jeff Sullivan: let’s get this all out of our systems now

Owen S.: How old are you? At what age do you believe you were the unhappiest you’ve ever been? The happiest? I am 28 and this is the worst year of my life.
