Comment From CW
Hi Kiley, have you had a chance to see Manuel Margot? His numbers certainly look solid, are you as high on him as other? If you have seen him what do his grades look like?

12:07

Kiley McDaniel: Saw him yesterday for the first time and I liked what I saw. Easy plus runner, advanced bat and a little pop too

12:07
Comment From Max
What non-baseball things do you 20-80?

Comment From Compton
Brandon Moss seems like the kind of baseball player that I’d like to have a beer with. What beer pairs well with a Brandon Moss?

12:01
Eno Sarris: Something bubbly because he’s a maniac. So much energy.

12:01
Comment From Lenard
Eno, can I just say that you’ve been absolutely killing it with these interview articles.

12:01
Eno Sarris: Hah. Thanks! This one was just a ton of fun.

Neil Weinberg FanGraphs Q&A – 9/24/14

2:32
Neil Weinberg: Hey all. We’ll get started at 3pm. This chat specializes in answering stat/data/FG features questions but any and all baseball questions welcome.

I’m @NeilWeinberg44 on Twitter if you’re looking for me other times. It’s Fall now, so my dog stopped sleeping all day, which means he may attempt to type answers. Can’t really vouch for their quality.

3:00
Neil Weinberg: Alright, let’s chat! My dog doesn’t want to chill, so this may run shorter than normal, we’ll see. So get good questions in early! Also, person who always asks about catcher DRS, today is your day. I can answer that question!

3:00
Comment From Fronk
What do you think of Felix’s implosion last night? Kluber for Cy Young?

3:01
Neil Weinberg: I was a Sale supporter until his bad outing last week, but I think it’s Kluber at this point. I don’t know if he’ll win – that depends on the quality of the specific voting group. But Kluber’s got the best case.

Comment From Vslyke
If I’m trying to calculate a pitcher’s total WAR by adding in his hitting and defense, am I counting the positional adjustment twice?

3:01
Neil Weinberg: If you’re adding their WAR as a pitcher and their WAR as a position player, you are not double counting anything.

Dave Cameron FanGraphs Chat – 9/24/14

11:31
Dave Cameron: It’s the final Wednesday of the regular season, so we can look forward to the postseason, talk about the awards races, speculate about winter moves, or just talk about my dog. Fire away.

12:04
Comment From DoffBHoya
what do you think happened to BJ Upton? why the major collapse?

12:05
Dave Cameron: He stopped hitting for power. The rest of his game is basically the same, but he had to drive the ball when he made contact to make the skillset work, and he doesn’t do that anymore. Why? I don’t think anyone knows.

12:05
Comment From Jake
Did you expec the Brandon Moss/Eno Sarris transcript to end with them getting coffee sometime, maybe seeing a movie?

12:05
Dave Cameron: We’re going to have a regular weekly series now called Eno Hanging With Brandon Moss.

12:05
Dave Cameron: (We’re not. But that would be fun.)

FanGraphs After Dark Chat – 9/23/14

6:02
Paul Swydan: Hi everybody! Join me, and possibly Jeff, tonight at 9 pm as we potentially bid a couple of teams adieu, and see if anyone really wants to win the AL Central as well.

We can also talk anything else on your mind! See you soon!

9:00
Paul Swydan: OK, let’s do this. I think you’re stuck with just me tonight, you guys. Sorry about that.

9:01
Comment From Guest
Best matchup tonight: STL at CHC

9:01
Paul Swydan: I mean, not really, but I like your spirit!

9:01
Comment From Salvo
I can keep three of these five as cheap starters in 2014: Paxton, McHugh, Duffy, Fiers, and Derek Holland. Which two get the ax?

9:01
Paul Swydan: Assuming you mean 2015, I would give Fiers and Holland the ax, as I believe they have the least upside.

Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 9/23/14

9:06
Jeff Sullivan: Well let’s talk about baseball, live

9:07
Jeff Sullivan: I suppose we don’t have many alternatives

9:07
Jeff Sullivan: Or we have infinite alternatives

9:07
Comment From Jake
Shane Greene’s true talent, over/under league average starter?

9:08
Jeff Sullivan: The last time I checked this — probably two weeks ago or so — Greene was the MLB leader in rate of pitches thrown low, as defined by some standard I used. Beat Keuchel. Beat some relievers who exceeded my minimum threshold. Greene knows how to keep the ball down like few others

9:08
Jeff Sullivan: I think maybe that becomes exploitable, and maybe he owes a good deal of gratitude to Brian McCann and the Yankees’ receivers, but with the strike zone expanding down there I think Greene can succeed now in a way he might not have been able to do 5 or 10 years ago

Nicholas Minnix Baseball Chat – 9/22/14

11:34
Nicholas Minnix: Hello, everybody! A surprise chat today. I’ll be with you at the top of the hour, look forward to answering some questions.

2:57
Comment From Los
I was 80 games over .500 in my league in 1st place. I got crushed 9-1 in the first round (after a bye) to a team that was 3 games over. Why do I still play H2H?

2:58
Nicholas Minnix: I have no idea!

2:58
Comment From Brad
Championship in weekly points league. Degrom has been my ace lately but I’m concerned collins shuts him down after rosters lock. Go with degrom or 2 start peavy against sd and la. Thanks.

2:59
Nicholas Minnix: Wouldn’t risk it. Go with Peavy.

2:59
Comment From David
Nats rotation – Roark or Gio?

Kiley McDaniel Prospects Chat – 9/9/14

11:04
Comment From Jake
Prospects chat whoooo

11:04

Kiley McDaniel: I don’t have a snappy intro this week either so luckily Jake stepped in with a whoooo

11:05
Comment From Jake
In general, how long does it take for seven figure+ international prospect signings to start showing up in the minor league system/prospect rankings?

11:06

Kiley McDaniel: Some of the top guys will go straight in there, like Pedro Gonzalez did for the Rockies, but I don’t think any of them will get into the 45 FV category unless I hear some crazy good reports from instructs. Jurickson Profar got crazy good instructs reports right after he signed, for context.

11:07

Kiley McDaniel: Also, we moved today’s chat to 11 since I’m going to the PIT-NYY instructs game at 1 and NYY has most of the July 2nd guys on the roster. Not sure what the lineup will be for today, tho. Follow me on twitter and I might tell you.

11:07
Comment From Jake
Whoooooooooooooo!

Neil Weinberg FanGraphs Q&A – 9/17/14

2:16
Neil Weinberg: Hey all, we’ll chat at 3pm. Remember priority to stat, data, FG questions, but happy to take regular baseball talk as well. I’m @NeilWeinberg44 on Twitter if you want to get in touch.

See you soon!

3:00
Neil Weinberg: Alright, hey everyone!

3:01
Neil Weinberg: Let’s do some chatting.

3:01
Comment From Tim Whatley
I would obviously take Pedro over Kershaw in terms of level of peak years (those dominant yrs during the PED era is insane). But in terms of sustained greatness over a longer period of time….have to give it to Kershaw if he does this a few more years…Agree?

3:02
Neil Weinberg: Big if, Pedro was amazing for a nice amount of time. To be determined. He has been good enough for this to be a plausible question.

3:02
Comment From Pete
Hey Neil, thanks for doing this. As a batted ball type, how stable is IFFB%? What kind of sample size thereof might be meaningful?
