The Tampa Bay Rays are in search of their next Research and Development Intern. Their R&D group helps shape their Baseball Operations decision-making processes through the analysis and interpretation of data. They are seeking those with a passion for baseball and a desire to contribute through mathematics, data analysis and computation. Their next intern will be an intellectual contributor that can work both individually and collaboratively, coming up with interesting research questions to explore, find ways to answer those questions with the data at their disposal, communicate the results of their research, and work to apply their research outcomes to improve how the Rays organization operates. Responsibilities:

The Quantitative Analysis team is responsible for researching and developing data-driven metrics and tools that enhance decision-making throughout baseball operations. Job Summary:
The Detroit Tigers are currently seeking a full-time Analyst in the Baseball Operations Department. This role will be responsible for performing analyses and conducting research within Baseball Operations. This position will report to the Director, Baseball Analytics.

The Boston Red Sox are seeking an Analyst for the team’s Baseball Analytics department. The role will support all areas of Baseball Operations while working closely with the EVP/Assistant GM, Director of Baseball Analytics, and the Red Sox’s team of analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Statistical modeling and quantitative analysis of a variety of data sources, for the purpose of player evaluation, strategic decision-making, decision analysis, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as statistics, predictive analytics, data science, engineering, applied math, physics, quantitative social sciences, computer science, computer vision, or operations research.
  • Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in one of the aforementioned fields preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of statistical methods or machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency with modern database technologies including SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with programming languages (e.g., R or Python).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences using data visualization.
  • Attention to detail while also having the ability to work quickly and balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours is a must.
  • Other programming and database skills are a plus.

Position: Player Development Data Apprentice

The Texas Rangers are seeking multiple apprentices in Player Development. Each Apprentice will work full-time with one of the Rangers’ minor league affiliates and report to the Systems Integration Coordinator. Apprentices will operate as an extension of the coaching staff and be a resource for both players and coaches. Position: Quantitative Analyst – Entry Level, Baseball Research and Development

Position Summary:
The Colorado Rockies are currently seeking a full-time entry level Quantitative Analyst within the Baseball Research and Development Department. This individual will assist in the development and maintenance of player information and projection systems, statistical analysis projects and on field strategy. This position requires strong statistical development skills, ability to program in a scripting language such as Python and/or R, as well as a demonstrated ability for independent curiosity and a commitment to excellence while working within a team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced statistical techniques to analyze large datasets for actionable conclusions.
  • Design and document development of new analytic applications to assist in player evaluation.

Job Posting: Phillies Player Development Associate

Position: Player Development Associate

Position Overview
Oversee the daily video, sports technology, and advance scouting operations at assigned minor league affiliate. Duties will include, but not be limited to: filming and logging home and road games, as well as assisting in daily instructional film/data review sessions with coaches, players, and staff. In addition, the P.D. Associate will be responsible for maintaining all sports technology equipment including setup, logging, and uploading all data each day.

Essential Duties

  • Open and oversee operations of affiliate video room on a daily basis
  • Be able to operate, troubleshoot, and support IP and high speed video cameras, computer networks, and network hard drives
  • Film and accurately log all home and road games using BATS video system
  • Film and capture data for bullpens, batting practices, and workouts based on requests by Phillies coaches and staff
  • Be able to accurately and efficiently set up and run various sports technology equipment, including but not limited to: bat sensors, motion capture tools, and ball flight tracking technology
  • Assist with daily data and video review sessions between Phillies coaching staff and players
  • Provide regular status reports to Assistant Minor League Video Coordinators and other player development staff in Philadelphia and Clearwater
  • Assist with various player development, Integrative Baseball Performance, advance scouting, and analytics initiatives as needed
