Most Basic Possible Guide to the Draft
Introduction
Baseball’s amateur draft begins today and extends through Saturday. Below is a collection of the most basic possible information — like, totally elementary — concerning it.
Schedule
Only the first two rounds of the draft will be conducted on Thursday. Rounds 3-10 will continue on Friday, with the remaining 30 rounds taking place on Saturday.
Here’s some of that same information, except also with start times and in the form of a table:

Broadcast Information
According to MLB.com, both that site (via video stream) and MLB Network will broadcast the first day of the draft. The second and third days (i.e. Friday and Saturday) will be available via MLB.com only, it seems. As of press time, no link to the MLB.com feed is available, although one assumes that pointing one’s browser to MLB.com around 7pm ET tonight, for example, would be some kind of start.

F***ing stupid White Sox and their stupid 0 NERD. They ARE a godd*mn zero.
I feel a bit better about the Nats “2” now that you pointed that out. But I have a feeling these scores don’t take into account which players are on the DL. I’m sure the Nats are less than two when Bryce Harper is not playing. They’re probably a “0” without Bryce, come to think of it…
I am still pretty confused with the NERD scores calculations, I understand they are the “watchability” score. However why are teams like MIL, SD, SEA, and KC ranked so high compared to better teams like ARZ, STL, and BAL?
Generally speaking, if a team has a lower ranking than you’d assume, it’s probably because most of the pleasure to be derived from that team has to do with said team’s starting pitching — which isn’t accounted for by Team NERD.
So, like, with St. Louis. Their starters are almost uniformly excellent. But their offense has been merely average, they’re below average in terms of park-adjusted home-run rate, and they’ve been miserable running the bases (-6.3 runs there, 29th in league).
Still, because their pitchers are good, most Cardinals’ games will still receive pretty high scores.
With one pick in the top 100, it’s like my Nationals are taking the day off.
Aside from a major-league game, that is!
One more pick then the Angels. At least we have Robert Coello’s fork-knuckle ball, gifs of which Dear Author conspicuously ignores.
I’ve been shocked that Coello has never been featured on FanGraphs. This would seem to be something that either Carson or Sullivan would be fascinated by.
I understand the omission from Carson– he’s full fledged agentic narcissist (individuals satisfying self-motives of grandiosity, esteem, entitlement, and power in agentic domains, e.g. “I am the most intelligent person”). This compulsion explains his focus on debuts of players not otherwise lauded by the baseball blogverse; Coello has been around for a while.
Jeff should’ve covered Coello to feed Jeff’s communal narcissism (individuals satisfying the same self-motives of grandiosity, esteem, entitlement but in communal domains, e.g. “I am the most helpful person”). Thus, he brings Grant-Brisbee-whimsy to Fangraphs and thereby, by his irreplaceable charm, elevates it something more than Baseball Prospectus without paywall and without Nate Silver patina.
{And, no one needs to tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about; duh.}
The Nationals sure seemed to be taking last night off, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do so again tonight.
No further comment on the enigmatic Max Scherzer’s start today, Carson? Does Corey Kluber have full possession of your heart now?
