Scared about Melancon? Or is it just 2 bad outing?

| 12:01 |
: Definitely scared. Watson finished the game last night, and they do have Bastardo, but they already moving on. I even like Arqimedes but if Watson closing now it’ll take a blow up to get the Arq in that role.
|
| 12:01 |
Thoughts on Eovaldi after seeing him shut down the Tigers this week? Are you more bullish on him today than you were before the season started? |
| 12:02 |
: The use of the splitter is inconsistent from start to start. Dunno if I saw one in Detroit. That’s weird. But! I always thought he had enough with the curve and slider, so maybe that’s it. And he’s throwing more sliders, which was an underrated part of Garret Richards’ breakout. I like him.
|
| 12:03 |
Hi Eno. Have to trim my roster in a 12-team dynasty league, and can only keep two of the following: Chase Anderson, Hahn, House, Pomeranz, and Shoemaker. Who would you hold on to for short-/long-term value? Thanks for your advice. |
| 12:04 |
: Crap. I really like Chase Anderson. Nothing’s missing now that his two-seamer is improved and he’s getting more grounders. Curve, two changes, good command, Ks, few BBs. Second one is harder because I like Hahn but where the Ks and how much should we worry about innings. Him or Pom, might as well flip a coin. FWIW, I like Hahn’s change much much more than Pom’s.
|
| 12:04 |
when does K%-BB% stabilize. That’s the best in-season predictor for pitcher success, yes? With B. McCarthy at #2 in the league, how does Snider for him sound in a keep forever OBP/QS league? I’m looking for a pitcher with a lower ceiling but a very high floor. Phil Hughes could also be had for reasonable price. |
| 12:05 |
: I like B Mac better. Better breaking ball! Better league! K-BB is the best inseason predictor, but K takes 150 BF (they might be there now) and BB takes a bit longer.
|
| 12:05 |
Any update on Sean Doolittle? When should we expect him back? Is it a certainty he gets the closer’s role back once he returns? |
| 12:05 |
: He told me he thinks he’ll get on the mound in May.
|
| 12:05 |
Wait, you aren’t Paul Sporer! |
| 12:05 |
: /looks in mirror /shoulders slump
|
| 12:05 |
Please rank Lagares, Inciarte, and Kiermaier is an OBP/Net Steals league. Read somewhere that Inciarte is the “NL version of Brett Gardner.” Thoughts? |
| 12:06 |
: Inciarte Kiermaier Lagares. I like Juan, but mostly for D. KK platooning more than Ender’s game.
|
| 12:06 |
Now is the time to sell high on Souza, right? |
| 12:07 |
: In a batting average league? Maybe. I’m guessing he hits .230. I bought him mostly in points and OBP leagues, so I’m cool with keeping him there.
|
| 12:07 |
do you boys like to boogie or nah |
| 12:07 |
Baseball, yes? |
| 12:07 |
Need some help desperately. Team is ok not great |
| 12:07 |
: pretty good interlude
|
| 12:07 |
Flores has been on quite the tear lately. BAPIP profile looks in line with career norms and power seems legit. Does he have a chance to flirt with top-10 SS? |
| 12:08 |
: I think he looks exactly like Jhonny Peralta, down to the hey that guys’ not a shortstop thing. There’s one big question for me: Will the D move him into a backup role? Or second base?
|
| 12:08 |
I picked up Grandal to replace Derek Norris before the season started, but Norris has been more productive so far, and Grandal isn’t playing as often as I’d hoped. Which one would you hold on to in dynasty? |
| 12:09 |
: If you have to pick one, I guess Norris, but I still like YG with a higher ceiling. He cut his swSTR and also his K, and the power will come.
|
| 12:09 |
it’s national take your kid to work day! everyone pretend your job isn’t crushing your soul so your kids don’t develop a horrible fear of adulthood |
| 12:09 |
: I’d have my kid here but I’d get no goddamn work done.
|
| 12:10 |
My Gray Archie and Winker for his Cueto and Starlin Castro. Am I giving up too much future value for now? |
| 12:11 |
: Nah. Winker is going to be better OBP/points but he’s no sure thing. Archie still not throwing a third pitch. Cueto > Gray.
|
| 12:11 |
Maikel Franco is hot at AAA again. Do you think he’ll be up soon, or does it depend on Howard getting traded (which seems unlikely)? |
| 12:12 |
: I thought at some point that Maikel Franco could ISO > .200 in bigs with a K% <16%, but now I’m a little more worried about the K rate, and therefore the batting average. But I actually still kept a little love for him. Howard seems like a release candidate more than anything. Something is going to happen this year.
|
| 12:13 |
chris sale is the best pitcher in baseball. discuss. |
| 12:13 |
: MAT HARVERY
|
| 12:13 |
: THE KING
|
| 12:13 |
: KKKKERSHAW
|
| 12:13 |
: THAT DUDE WITH THE BLUE HORSE
|
| 12:13 |
Is this where we get the lube? |
| 12:13 |
: One door down.
|
| 12:13 |
I’m in a really deep league (20 teams, 35 man rosters), and I need 3B depth (Aramis is my starter), any names that you would consider targeting via trade or someone in AA or AAA to keep an eye on? |
| 12:14 |
: You might be able to get Franco with Asche playing well. Asche and Franco, no idea who will actually play third. I’ve been trying to fill third forever in my similar league and right now I’ve got Asche and McGehee. Maybe Plouffe?
|
| 12:14 |
I traded for Chris Carter on the cheap in my AL-only league. I did good, right? |
| 12:14 |
: Yes.
|
| 12:14 |
Need to cut one: paxton or Hahn? Who gets the ax? |
| 12:15 |
: Paxton. I think he can K and BB like last year with more GB, but that might only get him to 3.75 ERA or so.
|
| 12:15 |
Eno: catching is a shipwreck. I losy Gomes and d’Arnaud and now am rostering Grandal. Is Gattis worth picking up (H2H league don’t count HR or BA but total bases and OBP)? Anyone else lurking out there who might be useful until Gomes returns? Thanks for your advice. |
| 12:15 |
: Stick with YG I guess. I think Gattis will start hitting but his OBP is not going to be great.
|
| 12:15 |
Hi Eno, do you think Boxberger’s done enough to keep the closer job when McGee returns? |
| 12:16 |
: Yes. But McGee will steal some just like Geltz did.
|
| 12:16 |
You know you need a break when you think to yourself, Eno has to get grip picks of this junk. |
| 12:16 |
: At least you didn’t say “his”.
|
| 12:16 |
Trying to buy low on David Price. He wants a bat with speed. Who do I give up: Joc, Revere, A.Escobar, Segura, or Granderson? |
| 12:17 |
: See if you can pair Revere and Granderson. Doubt you can do it with just one. Maybe you can sell on Price velocity loss and two guys with speed. (I’m not worried about Price, it was F’ing cold.)
|
| 12:17 |
Do you think Steve Pearce is going to turn it up soon? |
| 12:17 |
: I was always worried about him. I think he’ll turn it up soon… against lefties. Probably on the short side of a platoon.
|
| 12:17 |
Do you like Odor, M. Johnson or Semien to out perform D. Santana in SB’s ROS? |
| 12:18 |
: Johnson could probably do it in just SBs.
|
| 12:18 |
When do we start taking Devon Travis seriously in all mixed league formats? He’s making consistent hard contact, not to mention the dead-center tater he smacked yesterday. |
| 12:18 |
: He should be owned universally by now.
|
| 12:18 |
Are you concerned about Mookie getting off to a slow start? Any concern he wouldn’t get full-time at-bats going forward? |
| 12:19 |
: Not worried. Everyone watching him is raving.
|
| 12:19 |
Hey Eno, I dealt my Travis, and Tomas for Kipnis in a keeper league, how’d I do? |
| 12:19 |
: We’ll see. I still think you got the best player and Tomas I don’t like, but Travis looking nice.
|
| 12:19 |
Have to cut one of Jesse Winker or David Dahl. What do you think the ETA is for each, and who’s the better fantasy contributor in the long term? Thanks in advance. |
| 12:19 |
: Winker ETA sooner, Dahl ceiling better.
|
| 12:20 |
Current injury aside, would you drop Scooter Gennett for Joe Panik? |
| 12:20 |
: Would be nice if Panik would steal a base or hit a dang homer. I think I hold with Scooter.
|
| 12:20 |
Was Danny Santana a BABIP mirage last year and is destined for replacement level production or can he be counted on to hit .280-10-25 like optimists tell us? |
| 12:20 |
: .260/8/20 is my number for him.
|
| 12:20 |
Eno!!!!! |
| 12:21 |
:
|
| 12:21 |
Putting steroid use aside and accepting it was that era, Barry Bonds was a gem to watch hit the ball. Looking back at his stats, I’ll never see anything like it again. |
| 12:21 |
: Best player I ever saw live, when he came to the plate you knew it was either a walk or a homer, had flash, pizzazz, confidence, and if you could look past the flaws, he was a lot of fun.
|
| 12:21 |
do you utilize mlb gameday? if so, do you use the new or old format? |
| 12:22 |
: Classic!
|
| 12:22 |
How concerned are you with Hutch? Only two starts, but velo is down and he hasn’t looked good. |
| 12:23 |
: Not that concerned yet. Just down a tick, and the strikeouts and swinging strikes are still there. Hoping the command stabilizes, I’ve seen some good and bad stretches.
|
| 12:23 |
Shane Greene has been great, but where those K’s at?? |
| 12:23 |
: Hug those swinging strikes. They’ll come. I bet the increased use of the change is what’s up here.
|
| 12:23 |
Hey! Heard you and Paul “Sporer Alert” (?) talk about giving Taijuan one more chance. Did his k’s impress you or did his walks dismay you? Are you holding over Rodon? Karns? Masterson? Thanks! (Also: Johnny Too Bad beats Johnny B Goode.) |
| 12:24 |
: Hated the walks, but holding over Karns and Masterson. Rodon? That one’s tougher. Both have similar ceiling, but given home parks, I’ll take Taijuan.
|
| 12:24 |
Eno is back! *smashes head on desk* Eno is back! *smashes head through wall* Eno is back!!! |
| 12:24 |
: Taijuan On
|
| 12:24 |
Thoughts on Oswaldo Arcia? Is Molitor really going to platoon him and/or hit him 7th all year? |
| 12:25 |
: Don’t love a one-tooler in a bad park for his one tool.
|
| 12:25 |
Eno love the pod casts… I’m thinking of trading Howey Kendrick for Jacob Degrom this would allow me to ditch a not always startable chris tillman and pick up devon travis.. Your thoughts? |
| 12:25 |
: Yes.
|
| 12:25 |
Was last night Lagares’s best catch yet? |
| 12:25 |
Are you worried about Homer Bailey’s velocity? |
| 12:25 |
: Yes and Yes.
|
| 12:25 |
: See last column about Bailey: just as / more worried about his slider depth.
|
| 12:25 |
Eno my man, would you run out Buchholz today? I know it’s only the Rays, but he is only Clay Buchholz. |
| 12:25 |
: if not now, when?
|
| 12:25 |
Keeper league that’s a points league that emphasizes R/RBI — Corey Dickerson or Michael Brantley long term and for now? |
| 12:26 |
: Still C-Dick. Wait that’s a terrible nickname.
|
| 12:26 |
Is today the day that Drew Hutchison gets back on track against a potent Orioles squad? Has he been flashing the plus slider from late last season? |
| 12:26 |
: Yeah the slider still has the late-season 2014 shape. it’s the fastball velocity and command that have suffered a bit.
|
| 12:26 |
When looking at Plate Discipline for batters, what do we want to see? Obviously less swings outside the zone, but generally is it better if a guy is swinging more or less? Also, I assume more contact in the zone is a good thing in general? |
| 12:28 |
: It’s hard to say prescriptive things for all players for anything other than swSTR, and even contact numbers vary. For a power hitter, it’s okay to swing and miss 10-14% of the time, if the power is there. Mostly, I look for big changes within one player’s line. That suggests either pressing or a new approach. Hard to then know which one it is, but at least those per-pitch numbers stabilize quicker and are more meaningful.
|
| 12:28 |
“I need pitching advice” 2 part question: Can you rank Walker, Nelson, C. Martinez for the year? |
| 12:29 |
: C Mart, Nelson, Walker. Nelson impressing me with that curve, but his command is iffy. Command is iffy on all three, but C Mart hast the “sit up and take notice” stuff to maybe overcome it.
|
| 12:29 |
Johnny Cueto once ate a porcupine because he was bored of outpitching his peripherals. |
| 12:29 |
Can you please explain to Torii Hunter why attempting to steal home with bases loaded is a bad idea? |
| 12:29 |
are your children writing essays for preschool admission |
| 12:29 |
: lucky enough to live in a good public school district interlude
|
| 12:29 |
Bad beer that you aren’t ashamed to say you enjoy? |
| 12:30 |
: Probably Stella? Coors banquet and PBR are acceptable in the write situations, like flip cup.
|
| 12:30 |
I traded for Lester yesterday. I paid, what I feel, is pennies on the dollar for my league. I'm on my way to my 4th title in 8 years. |
| 12:30 |
Jeurys Familia — legit closer? |
| 12:30 |
: Yes. Have to look for more recent velocity readings on Parnell, but I think JF can keep it.
|
| 12:31 |
Is Segura a sell high with that average? |
| 12:31 |
: No
|
| 12:31 |
any pitchers you’re looking to buy low on right now? |
| 12:33 |
: Strasburg, Kluber, Hamels. Lester, Zimmerman, G Rich, Smyly, Shoemaker, Hutch if cheap
|
| 12:33 |
Hooray! I’m off to AA!! Any chance a corner has been turned? |
| 12:33 |
: i’m so out
|
| 12:33 |
Realmuto or Plawecki as temp Lucroy replacement? 15 team mixed. 2C |
| 12:33 |
: Plawecki
|
| 12:33 |
What’s your least favorite beer? |
| 12:33 |
: Fat Tire just came to mind
|
| 12:34 |
is every answer basically “too early to tell”? |
| 12:34 |
: no, there’s swinging strike rate to look at, to some extent K and BB, and soon we can look at GB/FB too.
|
| 12:34 |
No more weeks off, Eno. I mean it. |
| 12:34 |
See anything from Tim Lincecum that makes you believe he could be a contributor in fantasy this year? Or is the velocity decline too scary? |
| 12:35 |
: They talking about fastball command but I don’t see it. Last game was cold as heck and a few balls died on the warning track. I think he’s almost done or headed to the pen.
|
| 12:35 |
: And I love the dude.
|
| 12:36 |
A guy is shopping L. Cain for an elite pitcher. I have Strasburg. Too rich? |
| 12:36 |
: Yeah.
|
| 12:36 |
are you ready to give up on TJ House? |
| 12:37 |
: Down to 87.5 on the fastball, that’s no bueno. I’m out unless deep league.
|
| 12:37 |
“Arquimedes Caminero”….best name in in the majors right now? Say it out loud and try to tell me you didn’t have a good time. |
| 12:37 |
: I think his middle name is Euclides !
|
| 12:37 |
How do you view Heston ROS? |
| 12:38 |
: Like! Talked to him about putting weight on and how that led to more velocity and movement. I think he can Keuchel a bit.
|
| 12:38 |
What’s some good general advice for someone who has never played fantasy baseball and is considering trying it out? |
| 12:39 |
: Start with a public league on Yahoo, otherwise known as the shallow end. 5×5 roto. Have some fun.
|
| 12:39 |
Can Tomas be useful enough to roster in a 13 roto league (by useful i mean, do you expect him to get enough ABs to justify a roster spot) |
| 12:39 |
: No
|
| 12:39 |
Would you drop Aaron Sanchez for Chase Anderson? Also Jhonny Peralta for either Cozart or Flores? |
| 12:39 |
: Yes and No
|
| 12:39 |
Kris Bryant: Elite CF or Most Elite CF? |
| 12:39 |
Chase Anderson looked very hitable in his first outing so i sat him the second time around when he was great. what is the meaning of this. |
| 12:40 |
Looks like Kang is turning around now that he has consistent at bats and can find his timing! |
| 12:40 |
: An actual baseball interlude, which is nice.
|
| 12:40 |
Anything to see with Brandon Morrow or are we just falling for the same old schtick? |
| 12:40 |
: Well best park and league and stuff looks nice as always, it’s just when the arm will fall off that we wonder.
|
| 12:40 |
Osuna has a 29%-K rate, and a 18%-gb-rate with no IFF. He’s also throwing 25% changeups (95mph FBv versus 82 on the changeup). I don’t know what to think, but I’m definitely interested. Any early thoughts? |
| 12:41 |
: Love him. He might be ahead of Cecil, but he’s right there if Castro falls apart. Best SP holds guy going.
|
| 12:41 |
You had Dan Straily at 108 on your latest pitching ranks, which struck me as a bit odd. Good arsenal score, but his numbers (both MLB and MiLB) have been rough for several years. Do you see something in him that bumped him up? |
| 12:41 |
: I *thought* he would be next in line for a gig, Asher Wjaerejcvavki leaves me cold. And the peripherals were good even at lower velocity, but was hoping he’d iron out some of his health things and get the velocity back.
|
| 12:42 |
Is Desclafani in must-start territory now or is he still matchup-based? |
| 12:42 |
: Dude rocked in Milwaukee, I’m pretty good with starting him now.
|
| 12:42 |
what is mike fiers? |
| 12:42 |
: Just a dude walking the fine line that is an 88 mph fastball with up and down command.
|
| 12:43 |
Do you think Jake Marisnick could have a little breakout this year? He’s cut down on the whiffs in the early going, and I’m intrigued. |
| 12:43 |
: Making me look bad! Could hit .250 rest of way with some power and good CF D…
|
| 12:43 |
: Also jesus: 12:06
|
| 12:44 |
:
|
| 12:44 |
You look like a genius with DeSclafani, how shall of a league are you buying him? |
| 12:44 |
: 12 mixed
|
| 12:44 |
Will Andrew Miller close in NY all season? |
| 12:44 |
: Yes
|
| 12:44 |
I picked up Addison Russell in the hopes that he starts hot and I could trade him to a prospect hound, but I find myself really coveting the streaming spot he filled. Would it be dumb to just drop him? |
| 12:45 |
: Might as well try those prospect hounds first?
|
| 12:45 |
eno, i’m on labor watch with my wife (due date is saturday) so my beer consumption has taken a nose dive so i’ll be on my A-game when shit gets real. how much is this going to dent my tolerance and what beer do i have first afterward to celebrate (i’m in DC). |
| 12:45 |
: Wings of Armageddon from DC Brau seems appropriate for what is coming lol.
|
| 12:45 |
If real life appellate courts tell us anything, is there a possibility Kelvin Herrera can get more games tacked on for the head pointing? |
| 12:46 |
: He got what he got because of the head pointing so I don’t think so.
|
| 12:46 |
Who’s start concerns you more right now, Hutchison or T Walker? Are you holding on to either of them in 12 team or shallower? |
| 12:46 |
: I’ll hold Hutch a bit more.
|
| 12:46 |
why is alex guerrero still riding the bench |
| 12:46 |
: Anything you see in his minor league numbers has to be taken with the salt that is his age at those levels, those park factors, and the fact that his D has been bad everywhere.
|
| 12:46 |
Would you buy low on Alex Wood? Paxton? They don’t seem to be living up to the hype perhaps now is the time to pounce. ? |
| 12:47 |
: I don’t get Wood. All the pitches are basically the same, but they have half the whiff rates. I think I’d still buy. More than Paxton, who maybe just isn’t going to K more than 7 per nine. And yes, I do think he’s improving, but I think his ceiling might be >3.5 ERA, 7k9.
|
| 12:47 |
Do you like Chris Owings? as in do you think you like him enough to take him out for a wondeful evening on the town? |
| 12:48 |
: Hah, he was smart when we talked. But I’m worried about his two-handed finish on the swing. He says it’s to stay healthy, but it’s creating more whiffs.
|
| 12:48 |
|
| 12:48 |
Where is Bumgarner’s change-up? Kind of surprised he hasn’t made an effort to use it more often against righties. Basically a cutter, fastball guy against righties with a curve he *tries* to back door. |
| 12:49 |
: It’s not really good. But 4s/CT/CB works from the right side against lefties, so I think it’s enough. They all come from the same slot and look the same until one drops a bunch, one drops a little, and one rises.
|
| 12:49 |
How many comments have you heard about your Billy Butler article lately? I’m going to guess zero. |
| 12:49 |
: YOU BIAS
|
| 12:49 |
Tony Watson worth a speculative save add? |
| 12:49 |
: yes
|
| 12:49 |
would you be confident with the cubs’ current rotation going into the playoffs? they’d need to add another top tier piece right? |
| 12:50 |
: yes I think they need a little more. may not need to be up front. could be a minor league find, back of rotation guy.
|
| 12:50 |
H2H Points league. Got an offer. My Wacha and Odorizzi for his Beltre and Hutchinson. Buying into Beltre getting back to that top 30 status? Or Wacha being a top 20 SP? |
| 12:51 |
: If it’s just for this year, I think it’s okay because I still have love for Hutch. In keeper, I don’t think I’m buying Beltre.
|
| 12:51 |
Wait, I always imagined you worked from home. |
| 12:51 |
: Right so that’s another problem. Hey, son, here’s where I work, and over there is where you peed yesterday.
|
| 12:51 |
I live in Iowa and have had pseudo sue…I guess I don’t see what the fuss is about 🙁 Solid but nothing special |
| 12:51 |
: Too available maybe. LOVE IT.
|
| 12:52 |
Can Ryan Flaherty keep the 2B job all year, even after Schoop returns? |
| 12:52 |
: No
|
| 12:52 |
Shouldn’t Lindor be with the Tribe by now? What player is his ceiling? |
| 12:52 |
: Thinking Erick Aybar. Alcides Escobar if things work out a bit better.
|
| 12:52 |
Jhonny Peralta may not look like a SS, but defensive metrics love him. |
| 12:52 |
: smdh always
|
| 12:53 |
From his shrugs in your interview it seems like Choo plays hurt a lot. He’s got 9 K’s already! Did he give any indication of whether I should drop him for Souza or A. Garcia in an OBP league, if not, what’s your opinion? |
| 12:53 |
: Souza frigging tempting in an OBP league. I’d try to find room for both for a bit. If Choo still k’ing, drop him for a pitcher later.
|
| 12:53 |
Do the Brewers crack 70 wins? |
| 12:53 |
: Yes.
|
| 12:53 |
Eno, the pirates have NOT moved on from Melancon yet(they should). Hurdle gave him the day off yesterday b/c he threw 25 pitches the day before but he told the press that if there is a save situation today, he will go to Melancon. |
| 12:54 |
: Woof. Well, Watson faced righties, so he’s still next in line. And that line’s about to take the next customer.
|
| 12:54 |
O/U 400 PAs for Rendon? |
| 12:54 |
: Over

Firestone Walker proprietor’s reserve event tonight! gonna drink ALL THE SUCABA |
| 12:54 |
: nice

one-man lube |
| 12:55 |
is paul bunyan the guy with the blue horse |
| 12:55 |
|
| 12:55 |
Neil Walker has been super meh this season. Do you buy D Travis’ hot start or would you hold onto Neil |
| 12:55 |
: You know what I think Travis might be able to Walker but with more speed!
|
| 12:55 |
New Built to Spill is great. Evan Gattis is not. Trade him for Liriano? Have Vogt, will travel. |
| 12:56 |
: I think you wait for a two-homer game and get something better? But okay to trade him with high-contact Vogt / everything bagel on roster.
|
| 12:56 |
Should I old yeller Beltran at this point? |
| 12:56 |
: Please don’t kill him.
|
| 12:56 |
: (I think he can still deep league, maybe .250/16?)
|
| 12:57 |
Carlos Rodon (redraft league value) vs. backend of my SP: CC, Hahn, Pomeranz. And S. Miller clearly above these last 3? |
| 12:57 |
: I hold what you got.
|
| 12:57 |
In deeper leagues with MI, do you like Flores or Herrera better going forward |
| 12:57 |
: Flores
|
| 12:57 |
Sorry I was late, stopped at Jiffy Lude |
| 12:58 |
Michael Taylor seemed to show that he wasn’t overmatched at MLB level, right? Just wondering why he was sent back down. |
| 12:58 |
: Maybe regular ABs?
|
| 12:58 |
Shark doesn’t seem to be missing bats much in the early going, but everything else seems mostly in line. Have you noticed anything or think it’s just an early season blip? |
| 12:59 |
: Not throwing as many fastballs and the slider is down a few ticks, which is weird. Velocity is important for the slider, too. I’m not that into him, I mean he’s already 30 and this is the worst park he’s played in, but you can’t sell now.
|
| 12:59 |
How high are you on Jorge Soler? |
| 1:00 |
: Like I cracked him, chopped him up, and inhaled.
|
| 1:00 |
11 teamer and Eaton is on the waiver wire. If I picked him up he would be fighting with Revere, Markakis, and Marisnick for a roster spot. Pick him up? |
| 1:01 |
: I think he’ll have better BA and more steals going forward than JM. Wonder if you could put JM in a deal as a sweetener for a small upgrade?
|
| 1:01 |
Was DeGrom’s K rate last year a fluke? He’s back around 7.8 K/9 this year which seems more in line with his minor league numbers |
| 1:02 |
: Except that his swinging strike rate is still sexy time and his velocity is even up a tick. I say it’s going back up. (And FWIW, his minor league numbers predicted more like a 6.5 k9).
|
| 1:02 |
Tell us another story about DeGrom and asking him about finger placement, what else did he say besides the initial “is this a sex thing?” reaction? |
| 1:03 |
: http://www.fangraphs.com/bl… wasn’t the best interview, but the grips were huge for his improvement…
|
| 1:03 |
Better save speculation? Tazawa, Cody Martin, Romo ? Very deep league. |
| 1:03 |
: Tazawa.
|
| 1:03 |
Is Chris Young (the hitter) relevant again? |
| 1:03 |
: In ottoneu and deep bench leagues where you can put him in against lefties, sure.
|
| 1:04 |
ok to drop rusney castillo for gio gonzalez? |
| 1:04 |
: Yes.
|
| 1:04 |
Eno. Ugh. Enough. |
| 1:04 |
*loud barking* |
| 1:04 |
All aboard baby, |
| 1:04 |
: I love you weirdos.
|
| 1:04 |
Ryan Braun: Will the power come or is he just a different guy now? |
| 1:04 |
: Can 20-25 still I think.
|
| 1:04 |
I know you said Devon Travis should be universally owned, but how high are we realistically expecting him to finish at 2B? |
| 1:05 |
: .260/18/15? Basically what I wanted out of Odor? (I’ll revise Odor down to .250/15/10).
|
| 1:05 |
[META] Every consider doing a “How we Work” series at FG? Would be interesting to know methodologies in how you evaluate players (I look at this at this website, etc) and how others differ. |
| 1:05 |
: Maybe! But I think you can see pretty easily how Sullivan, Cameron, and I approach a player if you read our stuff.
|
| 1:06 |
i am not saying this to troll, and i love bonds, but is there any “I can’t take his stats 100% seriously because this doesn’t happen without him juicing” or nah? |
| 1:07 |
: sure I might shave a 100 HRs off the top, but he’d still have been a 30/30 center fielder and an OBP monster without those 100.
|
| 1:07 |
Does Pompey keep his gig with the return of Saunders? |
| 1:07 |
: yes.
|
| 1:08 |
Danny Duffy: Thoughts? I know that he’s not the guy that he showed late in the year last year, but… |
| 1:08 |
: Never liked the dude. None of his pitches ever had good peripherals.
|
| 1:08 |
Torri Hunter stealing home last night… |
| 1:08 |
Best part of gameday classic is being able to review an earlier PA pitch by pitch. never figured out how to do that with the default |
| 1:08 |
: Exactly.
|
| 1:08 |
That Echosmith song sounds like something a depressed tween girl listens to… |
| 1:09 |
: I mean, have you seen me in person? Are you sure I’m *not* a depressed tween girl?
|
| 1:09 |
:

| 1:10 |
Will Middlebrooks in SD: Is he regaining some lost luster or will he crater again? |
| 1:10 |
: Take a little power off the top and I think he can do this.
|
| 1:10 |
Can we require Greg to go by Cuz |
| 1:10 |
: Oh is he in here?
|
| 1:10 |
14 team H2H desperately looking for a SP…thoughts on Joe Kelly? Love the arm but he keeps getting knocked around… |
| 1:11 |
: looked great until he lost the command the other night. But you know what? a few of those balls were strikes. And the 4s is giving him the best ball% numbers of his career. I think he can command that pitch. I’m buying.
|
| 1:11 |
Concerned about McCutchen at all? I assume the BA will improve (unless knee really bothering him?) but only one SB attempt resulted in a CS… if the SBs drop to more like 10-15, I cant imagine he is a Top 10 player moving forward. In a keeper, how soon would you look to move him? |
| 1:12 |
: And stolen bases age terribly. If you fall out of it the next couple of years, might be time to get a haul. But don’t get prospects, get young big leaguers.
|
| 1:12 |
Is it just me or is Lorenzo Cain way better than Lagares out there? #midwestbias |
| 1:12 |
: All Star game skills challenge: Run down these flies hit by Mike Trout.
|
| 1:12 |
how do you rank closers? strictly on stuff, or do you take into account how good the team is and how many save situations there may be? that seems to be something that’s not easily predictable — not just how often a team will win, but how often save situations will arise. |
| 1:14 |
: Team factors only add a few save chances, and it’s mostly built on runs scored and the quality of the rest of the bullpen, from my research. Current closers I rank mostly on K and BB, maybe a nod to shakiness, like you have to discount Castro just a little for age, but not a lot, given how the league is getting younger. I rank backups by velocity and strikeout rate, and give a nod to righties, who get picked 2x more than lefties even given the relative population sizes. That’s all I’ve seen as even slightly predictive of closer change.
|
| 1:14 |
How worried should I be about Iwakuma’s velo loss? |
| 1:15 |
: Decently. The last time he had velo loss, he was in the middle of a shoulder problem that turfed his deal with Oakland.
|
| 1:15 |
Kendall Graveman has been terrible. His command, which was his strong suit, has been very bad. Do you think he can turn it around soon? |
| 1:15 |
: I think he has command, but you if you are fearful, you don’t think you can put the ball where you want to and you nibble. Stuff is really important, which why I wasn’t ever super fond of him.
|
| 1:16 |
one time in college i was playing beer pong and my partnerdecided to flash his junk at our opponents to distract them. a passerby happened to see and so they got the nickname dick-seer. it wasn’t corey dickerson though |
| 1:16 |
Joc is walking 22% and Striking out 34%. What say you? |
| 1:16 |
: Both going to go down a bit, but won’t be a batting average help.
|
| 1:17 |
Brandon Belt has been awful. Dump or hold? |
| 1:17 |
: If your 12+ team league has a CI spot, hold. He’s looked this bad before.
|
| 1:17 |
Better times comin for Marcell Ozuna? |
| 1:18 |
: Unfortunately, I was hoping his swSTR and K% numbers would improve. Well would you look at that, his swSTR actually did improve. I still think he can .275/18-20…
|
| 1:18 |
I mean, I feel bad for Joe Nathan, but as a Soria owner, I’m glad he’s not going to steal saves. Should I feel ashamed of myself for doing a mental fist pump when I read the news that Nathan was out? |
| 1:18 |
: Fantasy baseball sometimes makes us bad people. It’s okay!
|
| 1:18 |
I got Kipnis in the 12th round, I need him primarily for steals and runs. Should I drop him for Odor or Smeien? |
| 1:18 |
: No
|
| 1:19 |
You said it’s “still” Dickerson over Brantley. I haven’t seen anyone rank them that way though. What’s your reasoning? |
| 1:19 |
: I guess this is why I have zero shares of Brantley!
|
| 1:19 |
tatis – 2 grandslams in an inning – 4/23/99 |
| 1:19 |
stella is a bad beer? gosh im a nub |
| 1:19 |
: well it’s a Big Beer.
|
| 1:19 |
I’m not saying that Alex Guerrero is Babe Ruth, and I know the sample size is small, but why can’t the guy get 2-3 starts a week? Juan Uribe is a terrible hitter (sub .300 OBP in seven of fifteen seasons). |
| 1:20 |
: Uribe’s glove, I guess!
|
| 1:20 |
Daily question: Would you trust Chris Heston starting in Colorado tomorrow? |
| 1:21 |
: He’s sinker/change first, then those breaking balls, and he has two, so maybe in a deep league or in DFS where he’ll be cheap. Not in mixers.
|
| 1:21 |
rest of year: familia, cishek and britton. Pick 2. |
| 1:21 |
: Jeez Cishek down to 89? Britton lock. Familia?!
|
| 1:22 |
am i relying too much on young gusy (Bryant, Mookie, Yelich, Travis, Kole Calhoun)? if so who would you recommend trading for what? |
| 1:22 |
: nope, you fine
|
| 1:22 |
Kris Bryant is starting in CF today. Do you think that could end up being a way to solve a Cubs logjam if Baez figures things out? Schwarber in LF, Baez and Russell take 2B/3B. (I’m not an Almora guy) |
| 1:22 |
: I don’t see it. I mean, is there another CF that looks like him?
|
| 1:23 |
I agree, Fat Tire is pretty icky |
| 1:23 |
Fat Tire? I’m flabbergasted! |
| 1:23 |
Best option at C ros: Ianetta, Joesph, Hanigan, Salty, Susac, Plawecki, Ruiz? I’m a desperate man. |
| 1:23 |
: If OBP… Well maybe Ruiz then. Iannetta second. Ruiz in BA.
|
| 1:24 |
Do you still have 1. Shoemaker 2. Bailey 3. Fiers 4. Paxton 5. Kelly on your SP ranks? Or are those a wait and see approach? If not, mind re-ranking? |
| 1:24 |
: Might go Shoe Kelly Bailey Paxton Fiers now
|
| 1:24 |
Are you buying any of these pitchers: Hughes, Latos, Weaver, or Garza? |
| 1:24 |
: Hughes. At least his command is still sick and his HR/9 will go down.
|
| 1:25 |
Your opinion on the Lawrie slide an all the ensued over last weekend? |
| 1:25 |
: I don’t hate Brett Lawrie like everyone else. He’s just hopped up on Red Bull and a little bro-y. He cares, and he doesn’t want to lose his head. I think the first plunk was aight if you have to do that crap, but the rest was extracurricular.
|
| 1:25 |
A man just had a seizure in my office, how long must I wait before I eat lunch to avoid being judged? I’m starving. |
| 1:25 |
: just don’t be the first to leave the scrum
|
| 1:26 |
Re: Jimmy Nelson’s command. What in particular worries you about his command? 2.47 BB/9 last year and 1.8 this year. F-stike % at 63%. |
| 1:26 |
: Just watching him some. Also, he was very much more up and down in the minors. Zips has him projected for a 3.8 Rest of Season BB/9, for example.
|
| 1:27 |
How would you rate your boy DeSclafani for the rest of the way compared to the likes of Lackey, Porcello, Latos, and Paxton? |
| 1:27 |
: Yes.
|
| 1:27 |
what walk to K rate would be good for Castellanos? last yr it was 🙁 |
| 1:28 |
: hey cuz. You know, I think he’s just about perfect right now. Can’t ask him to get under 20% Ks, I don’t think. All we need now is a little more power. Which I think he has.
|
| 1:28 |
Wait, so, is Segura a no sell because you’re a believer, or because you still couldn’t get anything for him? I’m pretty psyched because I think last year was more of an aberration from his mean than 2013 was. Can I go ahead and drop Andrus off my bench to pick up some pitching? |
| 1:28 |
: I like Segura. Have a few shares!
|
| 1:28 |
You mention Heston being able to Keuchel a bit. Do you think Anthony DeScalfani has similar upside? |
| 1:28 |
: DeSclafani has more K rate upside. Heston sinker/change like Keuchel, so more of a GB guy.
|
| 1:28 |
Thoughts on Jason Marquis? |
| 1:29 |
: How new is this splitter? Cause we have him throwing it last year and he wasn’t good last year? So I don’t get it.
|
| 1:29 |
how can a brewery with a footprint and presumable following as large as new belgium be so consistently subpar? la folie/le terroir are nice mass-market sours, but their everyday offerings are dreadful. |
| 1:30 |
: It’s a choice in taste. There’s a brewery here, Hermitage, and they have good beers made by other breweries in their facilities. But their brewer likes that dusty old malt-forward pale ale that was more popular in the Bitter Beer Face days. We’ve moved on.
|
| 1:30 |
I hid behind the divider at my desk and ate in shame. |
| 1:31 |
: Dude, I’m with you, messaging you while peeking over the cube wall.
|
| 1:31 |
It was a hot lunch. No regrets. |
| 1:31 |
When I get a terrible trade offer I like to stroke the ego of the guy proposing and say something along the lines of “that’s a great offer, but…” and then come up with some excuse why I can’t do it now, so they’ll get overly confident thinking they’re smarter than me and keep offering trades. Then BAM I pull the trigger on one they’re not paying attention to closely. |
| 1:31 |
: Hey that’s not bad. IF it works. Better than my, okay I’m going to leave that crap trade open for weeks so that you feel hamstrung for waiver wire moves because maybe he just hasn’t checked that trade!
|
| 1:32 |
Are we worried about Doug Fister? He’s throwing like 70% sinkers, and his velocity keeps drifting to the mid-80s. |
| 1:32 |
: Yes, I wasn’t big on him coming into the season. Never gives you the Ks you need either. I mean a 5.6% whiff rate! I’d be selling.
|
| 1:32 |
Eno sir, how goes it? Very well, I hope. Could you offer some thoughts on Carson Smith? Could he be a dark horse for saves in Seattle should anything happen to Rodney? Also, still in on Kang? Yer the best. |
| 1:33 |
: I picked up Carson Smith in AL-LABR because I like what he’s throwing, but it would take a Farq meltdown after a Rodney meltdown. At least Farq velo down?
I still like Kang in deep leagues, have held on to my shares. 11% swinging strikes will be okay if the power comes. |
| 1:33 |
What happened with you and Joc? Was he a jerk about it or just less than forthcoming? |
| 1:34 |
: Oh he wasn’t a jerk. Just didn’t give me a damn thing. Barrels on balls, all that. “lots of adjustments.”
|
| 1:34 |
My partner is all into healthy living. She follows a meal plan known as “Fit Girl” and makes me eat it too. Some of it is actually delicious. Should I be admitting this? |
| 1:34 |
: Bet you feel better after your meal is done too
|
| 1:34 |
Any advantage to using K/9 instead of K% to evaluate pitchers? Seems like K/9 rewards guys who see more batters/inning for kinda no reason. |
| 1:35 |
: No advantage except familiarity.
|
| 1:35 |
Favorite beer you can find in any big name grocery store? |
| 1:35 |
: Lagunitas Sucks?
|
| 1:35 |
Following up on your Osuna love, should I drop Jepsen for him? |
| 1:35 |
: Yah that’s decent.
|
| 1:35 |
Cishek or Ottavino the better closer ROS? |
| 1:35 |
: Ottavino!
|
| 1:35 |
Yes April, yeah yeah, but is anyone worried about George Springer yet? |
| 1:35 |
: Power coming and he stole four bases!
|
| 1:36 |
Not worried about Desclafani being a 2-pitch guy? Kind of like Cingrani? |
| 1:36 |
: I’ve been writing about DeSclafani’s changeup since last year and did an interview where he pointed out his knuckle curve. You can call the KC not much (3%) but he’s throwing 12% changeups, so that’s a pitch.
|
| 1:36 |
Liking Valbueno at all in an AL only lg? His K% is down frm career, his bb% is up, his babip is very low rel to career. Granted his HR/FB is bound to come down but a case can be made that we are seeing an emerging power hitter like JD Martinez last yr. Thoughts? |
| 1:37 |
: Not emerging, just a good park for his skills. I think he can .250/25 this year.
|
| 1:37 |
Boxberger in the 7th inning? Wtf? |
| 1:37 |
: Best hitters.
|
| 1:37 |
is it even worth sending comments at this point |
| 1:37 |
no one will ever see this |
| 1:37 |
: 12:44
|
| 1:37 |
i am yelling into the void |
| 1:37 |
: I’m here for you.

one time when i was three i wet the bed and reacted by piling everything on the bed into my closet and sleeping underneath the bed |
| 1:37 |
: well now
|
| 1:38 |
Thanks for the advice for Desclafani. So far so good. When does he start regressing to his Zips? |
| 1:38 |
: He’s, to some extent, a new pitcher. The shorter the track record, the less likely I’m to use pitching projections.
|
| 1:38 |
I hope this comment gets picked for the highly popular lude segment! |
| 1:38 |
You type too fast. SLow down so I can catch up! |
| 1:38 |
why don’t we give pitchers one of those home run derby fences in every game |
| 1:38 |
Any catching prospect with upside to keep an eye for possible call up this season? |
| 1:39 |
: TINSTAACP
|
| 1:40 |
Tell me about Bolsinger. I streamed him for today and was about to drop him, but then I started looking closer. The K/BB is ridiculous in AAA this year but he’s never shown anything like it. Everything old about him says fastball/curve guy but he’s talking this year about a slider he’s throwing and how surprised he was at how good it was. Am I way too early or could this be a legit change and a surprise real contributor? |
| 1:41 |
: One data point in Brooks for this year, and he went 80/20 cutter/curve. If he’s got a slider, cutter/curve/slider would be a unique arsenal, and nothing would go the other way… I think platoon splits would be a problem, maybe. At least the curve is a big one.
|
| 1:41 |
Eno Sarris: “I don’t get Wood.” |
| 1:41 |
Should I hold on to hope for Phil Hughes? I wasn’t expecting him to be as good as last year, but he has been pretty bad. Should I drop him for Chase Anderson? |
| 1:41 |
: I’d hold Hughes. I love Anderson though.
|
| 1:41 |
Brandon Morrow vs. the Rays in 2010: 9IP, 1H, 17K/2BB Game Score of 100. No real reason to bring that up, but anytime Brandon Morrow pitches, I think of it. |
| 1:42 |
What kind of hitter do you think Harvey, Strasburg, or Sale should bring back? Is stanton, EE, Bautista targeting too high? |
| 1:42 |
: With Bautista shoulder, might be the right time to pounce.
|
| 1:42 |
Hot take: Brandon McCarthy is Joe Blanton. All the Ks, no BBs but so many dingers. |
| 1:43 |
: Blanton threw 89.
|
| 1:43 |
drop quintana for chase anderson? |
| 1:43 |
: You know what, man, yes. Yes. I mean I like Q a little still, but he’s down to 90.7 and never had a good changeup. How far will fastball command go for him on an 89 mph fastball?
|
| 1:44 |
I finally caught up! |
| 1:44 |
: 12:52
|
| 1:44 |
What do you foresee for Dellin Betances this year? |
| 1:44 |
: Dunno if he takes the job back. Barely even throwing his fastball!
|
| 1:45 |
You dropping Hutchison for any of these guys: Salazar, Pomeranz, C. Anderson, Burnett |
| 1:45 |
: Salazar and Anderson, if Hutch doesn’t show better fastball command tonight.
|
| 1:45 |
Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun are killing me. Please tell me it’s still early. |
| 1:45 |
: Yelich hurt, which I think at his age is a good thing, he’ll get right. Can’t sell Braun now.
|
| 1:46 |
Eno comfort me, I just turned down a brewing job because I’m still under contract at a 9-5 office 🙁 |
| 1:46 |
: Keep brewing at home and hopefully another opportunity will come. It probably will if your’e good.
|
| 1:46 |
Any belief in Volquez this year? |
| 1:46 |
: I don’t get it, so I’m just passing on it.
|
| 1:47 |
What kind of pitcher/C/OF could Tulo bring back if still healthy at end of May. |
| 1:47 |
: Plawecki/Syndergaard/Nimmo?
|
| 1:47 |
: or you mean in fantasy? Anything you really want.
|
| 1:47 |
Best site or twitter handle to get MLB GIF’s? |
| 1:47 |
: @based_ball
|
| 1:47 |
You nailed almost all your SP recommendation, but damn, you killed me with Evan Marshall and Shawn Kelley |
| 1:47 |
: The bullpen is a crapshoot!
|
| 1:48 |
how high should I be trying to sell on desclafani in an NL Only league, particularly for 1B/3B? Or should I not be trying to sell at all. pitching is strong (cole, cashner, Tehran, chase Anderson, homer bailey) |
| 1:49 |
: Hard thing about these questions: what will someone give you? They probably want to buy Desclafani as a maybe, where I think he’s a probably. So don’t sell for a good maybe price. The right thing might be to see if Bailey’s slider still flat. If he has a good game with a flat slider and curve, sell him!
|
| 1:49 |
if jorge soler turns up dead there’s gonna be some questions you have to answer eno |
| 1:49 |
In how many states is snorting Jorge Soler legal? |
| 1:49 |
Eno is Jamaican High on Soler |
| 1:50 |
: true lude
|
| 1:50 |
Early in the Fantasy season, who is your biggest steal and biggest bust? |
| 1:50 |
: Odor is killing me a bit, but I’m holding out hope.
|
| 1:50 |
Zack Cozart batting 2nd in CIN today. Are you seeing anything different with his swing or approach that warrants optimism for his hot start? |
| 1:50 |
: It’s almost all literally BABIP.
|
| 1:51 |
Do you say sexy time to your wife, or only in response to pitch peripherals? |
| 1:51 |
: I think if I said sexy time to my wife it would be the end of sexy time.
|
| 1:52 |
Uehara’s 6 MPH drop in fastball velocity has to manifest itself in the results soon doesn’t it? |
| 1:52 |
: 90% splitters! Yes, he might almost be done. How do you get strikes with a splitter.
|
| 1:52 |
This Napoli power outage to begin the season: Just him being a streaky bastard, right? Any time now, he’ll suddenly blast five in a week? |
| 1:52 |
: This is exactly why power takes forever to become meaningful.
|
| 1:53 |
Let’s gather around the fire and listen to Eno tell us a story about Danny Duffy’s early season struggles. |
| 1:53 |
: Hey I’ve been saying since last year that he doesn’t have the command to make the rising fastball work for him like a Weaver, and his curve doesn’t get whiffs, so he needs command to get called strikes there too.

| 1:53 |
Wong or Flores for a MI slot? |
| 1:53 |
: Wong
|
| 1:54 |
Are you going to do an updated “Swinging Strike Benchmarks for Pitch Types”? |
| 1:54 |
: Zimmerman did, search for his name and Matt Cain. If you mean a new one, I bet it’s still relevant.
|
| 1:54 |

| 1:54 |
Taylor definitely went back down for regular PA’s |
| 1:54 |
If a “tween” girl had Eno’s hair she would no longer be depressed |

it would be pretty hilarious to replace all the kids in the outfield for the HR derby with the best defensive players and have them fight for all the fly balls |

: hilarious and injurious
|
| 1:57 |

THought the league is about as old as it ever was, it was just a bump in age during the peak steroid era years |
| 1:58 |
: I’ve seen younger debut ages, younger peaks, and I thought younger average ages.
|
| 1:58 |
Is there anyone asking questions that is not from Hustlers? |

kang drops his high leg kick with runners on and he is just shooting for contact and giving up on power. should pitchers pitch him differently knowing his swing isn’t going to be HR powered? higher in the zone heat maybe? |
| 1:59 |
: Interesting question, probably deserves a deeper look!
|
| 1:59 |
Should I trade Joey Votto and Alex Wood for Albert Pujols and Carlos Carrasco? |

Are you happy you have Wacha Wood Sanchez Greene Pineda Hutch Fiers in a 12 team H2H or are you worried because you need most of them to hit their ceiling? |
| 2:00 |
: a little worried. But what you going to do now except caress your nice lineup.
|
| 2:00 |
|
| 2:00 |
Heston hasn’t thrown a change up to a righty yet. Unless I’m reading it wrong. And is slider is awfully slow, kind of odd. |
| 2:01 |
: Yeah you know who that sounds like? Roark. Roark was one guy against one side, and another against the other side. Really like this comp now.
|
| 2:01 |
Moustakas has a 97% z-contact rate. Is such a thing even possible. Yes it is! |
| 2:01 |
Corey Hart played CF and was just as big |
| 2:01 |
: There you go, not bad.
|
| 2:01 |
Most underrated beer? Overrated? |
| 2:02 |
: Maybe something like Victory Prima, or just plain old regular Lagunitas IPA for underrated. Overrated? I’m sorry… Heady Topper. I mean I love the smell, but there are a few beers that taste like that at my corner store.
|
| 2:03 |
Would you take Nelson over Iwakuma at this point? I know you weren’t the biggest Iwa fan preseason |
| 2:03 |
: Getting closer. I need to look at injury factors for Iwa and see if he’s legit hurt and hiding it.
|
| 2:03 |
Id love to see a AS game skills competition, like fastest around the bases, Best OF arm, and stuff like that.. |
| 2:03 |
: I would also.
|
| 2:03 |

| 2:04 |
(scans my frequent chatter card) (gets to the front of the queue) Odor or Lawrie ROS? |
| 2:04 |

Favorite beer you can find at biannual releases in the middle of nowhere which require waking up at 4AM and waiting in line for 28 hours next to a dude in a slayer shirt who hasn’t showered in days? |
| 2:06 |
: I drove two hours and waited three hours for Pliny the Younger and I’m probably done.
|
| 2:06 |
What teams don’t allow pitchers to throw a splitter. |
| 2:07 |
: The Cardinals tried to take Haren’s away in the minors. There are some teams that don’t let young pitchers throw it but allow vets to.

Hmm Soler K’ing 30+% and looking pretty silly anytime he gets a slider. Worried? He won’t BABIP .400 forever… |
| 2:08 |
: I think even at .260 his power will be REAL.
|
| 2:08 |
Eno doesn’t get Wood but he gets Box |
| 2:08 |
You are getting a lot of props for Desclafanini. But not much hating because of House or Hutchison or Mcallister. You have a very supportive fan base. |
| 2:10 |
: I was slightly into McAllister, but never on him like others. Look at my shares http://www.fangraphs.com/fa… Ottavino, Anderson, Shoemaker, deGrom, DeSclafani, Carrasco, Bauer .. it’s Kyle Gibson, Drew Hutchison and TJ House that have missed so far, and I still like Hutch, and Gibson was always a deep leaguer.
|
| 2:10 |
Drafted ottavino and soria. Things couldn’t have gone better. Oh and thanks for convincing me to try the grapefruit sculpin. Always liked the regular but the grapefruit is rock solid |
With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Eno,
What’s your take on the ceiling of Wilmer Flores this year. Had a solid 2nd half last year, and although he struggled early this year, he’s hung in and might be on the verge now. Dude makes good contact.
