How do you approach fantasy owners for trades? The leagues I’ve been in, when I make offers, they are responded to as though blasphemy against God Himself — or they aren’t responded to at all. I don’t want to make obviously self-harming offers, but people seem to fail to understand that trades are generally a back-and-forth and the initial offer is just that, a starting point.

9:12	Eno Sarris: Trading is really really hard. I think the best thing to do is dispense with the first offer in your mind and go to the second one. That makes it close.

So I just completed a big trade in my keeper league… This is the last year I own Fielder and Tulowitzki and they go back into the pot after this season. I traded them both along with League and Ryu for Rizzo, Segura and Medlen. Can now keep Rizzo 4 years and both Segura and Medlen 5 years at rd 13 going forward. Was that enough of a haul?

i chose fernandez, but mostly because i wonder if other people would be willing to give full value despite the IP limit. harvey maybe for the same reason but you probably won’t trade him because mets. Burnett maybe because of those guys, he’s the one most likely to have an inexplicable meltdown. I’ve been trading for Samardzija because he’s been slightly off lately and people seem jumpy, so I doubt you get good value for him

For years I bought Ron Shandler’s books before the advent of BP and FG. This year he piqued my interest when articles quoted him as down on Trout, which was contrary to popular expert opinion. His views on Trout looked smart until we hit May. Do you think Shandler might have been trolling for a little publicity with this opinion?

Eno Sarris: I cannot speak for his motives. And also, he could be saying that he’ll regress this year, and still be right. Like, I thought he’d regress, and tried to roll back all of his numbers, and still came up with .290/20+/40. He’ll probably outdo those power numbers and maybe come up short in steals, but that’s regression… and it’s also great.

Eno Sarris: We looked at this internally for ottoneu points, which really dings you for homers allowed, and the do/don’t start line is far south of my guys. All of these guys are every-starters other than Jose, and that’s just because we don’t know enough. IMO. Maybe not AJB in Yankee stadium because of THE HORRORS.

Beergraphs stadium edition would be awesome. Get on that! I can vouch that Minute Maid has a variety of refreshing craft beers (at unfortunate stadium prices, c’est la vie). Very underrated stadium though. Especially since you can sit behind home plate for $56 (true story – no one goes anymore).
